Arrived around 6pm on a Friday night it was quiet , but by the time we left it was almost full. Out of the way unless you've visited the hall. This is a great destination pub/ restaurant, welcomed as we walked in , no wait for a table (as I say it was quiet when we arrived) . A great variety on the menu and some specials too. I chose the steak and mushroom pie my friend the ploughman's, and was not disappointed. Both arrived quickly ,it was a good portion size and nice and hot. Service through out was excellent and "down to earth" a nice touch.
Highly recommended we will be back soon 🙂
We booked a table of two and we’re both vegetarian. We had so many appealing option we ordered a few different meals to try out. And i must say the servings were such a good traditional country pub portion. Each and every dish was so flavorful and came with so many complimenting tastes that just made every dish melt in your mouth.
Very beautiful looking place very traditional beautiful theme, such a wonderful place to go for a meal and drink.
I 10/10 loved every single dish share between the two of us aswell as the variety in drinks i could choose between.
Great service and good food.
The landlord platter is well stacked but you could tell that each item was straight out of the fridge, just a little too cold and pastry not crisp.
Overall though it was a nice experience and would certainly go back.
We have been coming here for over 40 years. The beer is always first class. The food brilliant. And staff always pleasant and accommodating. The menu has been reduced slightly of late, I used to enjoy, on occasion, the Lincolnshire sausage, but alas that was taken off. All the food is locally sourced. You can book a table now, which is good. The interior of the Hardwick has not been modernized at all, well, nothing that takes away the atmosphere of an old country coaching Inn anyway. There is lots of space and plenty tables outside to eat, It's nice to sit outside in the beer garden at the rear, with a nice a nice view of the owners well kept garden. Since the pandemic, there is less parking outside the Inn you have to park about 140 meters away down the lane, the car park itself is huge. There is a turning circle out side the pub to drop off anyone who cannot walk such a distance. Also since the pandemic they have utilized one of the barns in the front of the pub to purchase your drinks etc.
Visiting the Hardwick Inn after a tour around Hardwick Hall would be a great way to finish your day.
We dropped in here after visiting Hardwick Hall and both ordered the Ploughman's Lunch. The portion size is large, you could easily share it between two people! I had the turkey sandwich and it was really nice, the bread was thick and tasty. The pork pie, sausage roll, and scotch egg were all great too. Then you've still got a pile of crisps and half an apple as well! Hearty portion and will keep you going for hours. I think it was £11, definitely good value for money.
Fabulous food with generous portions.
Go in hungry as the portions are enough to ensure being stretchered out,
The place is a gem without doubt as the quality and emphasis on local suppliers lends itself to an excellent menu.
It still retains its 16th century sense of history which gives a great atmosphere. I can only imagine what a cosy space this would be in winter.
The staff are welcoming and friendly.
A definite winner.
Gorgeous historic inn with great outside areas as well as different indoor dining experiences. Really friendly and helpful staff, and the food was superb. Great range for all appetites and desires. Our party chose diverse variety -fish and chips,
mixed grill, steak and ploughmans. Everyone enjoyed their meal and commented on the quality.
Dogs and kids welcome and it's set in such stunning surroundings.
Fantastic food and drink. Rang and was able to book a table for 12pm. Very friendly staff on phone and also in the pub. Very attentive and friendly. Food and beer were excellent. Had a carvery which was exceptionally filling and very tasty. The meet was cooked really well. The Inn has a car park a short walk from entrance, indoor and outdoor seating. Clean toilets. Lovely real warm fire and great atmosphere inside. Returned for drinks outside. Great pint.
I had an amazing time with my daughter,we ordered different vegetarian dishes, to try out, each and every one of them were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavours, we loved the variety of vegetarian options, which is usually rare, we enjoyed every second of being in this beautiful place, and very nice pub restaurant. Many Thanks to the chef, and staff. Amazing work.
Very highly recommended.
What a great place, great food , great staff all wrapped up in a fantastic old building on the National Trust site of Harwick Hall.
Be careful what you order as the portions are huge, they do have smaller portions which I will have next time.
We sat outside in the sun every National Trust site should have one!
At first I was annoyed that our food came out late (2 tables came in after us and both got served before us) but when the food came out it was so good I didn't care. I can highly recommend the steak and stilton pie, one of the best pies I've ever had!
Debbie was brilliant today looking out for us making sure we got a table and the beef sandwich with gravy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding was divine and less than £10
Went again today 1/10/2023 and disappointed they have changed this it's no longer a soft barm. Also no potatoes or Yorkshire pudding
Food portions are nothing shy of marvellous, left overs on plate and full belly's value for money and the quality was top notch
Good selection of beers on tap, great cosy old fashioned pub, 10 /10 would go again
Absolutely awesome. We went as a group of 8 and the attention we were given by all staff was fabulous. Top notch food in a marvelous atmosphere. Well done everyone, you should very proud of yourselves.
Lovely place to go after exploring Hardwick Hall. The food is delicious and portion sizes are more than adequate. I would recommend the ploughman's!
Cannot rate the food as didn't eat, although it looked fantastic. Great pint and full of character.
arrived 1:30pm on wednesday, after hiking. the place was almost full, recommend to book table in advance on weekends. the whitebaits and steak and ale pie were delicious. the mixed grill was enough for two people, over 20oz of meat in mixed grill and the rump steak was very tender. the pub has no free wifi.
Lovely pub to visit! The food is delicious! Great outdoor seating areas on nice days. All staff have always been very helpful and friendly. Beautiful surroundings walks to go on also. Would certainly recommend visiting here! 😁👍
Excellent place to dine, in beautiful area. Ideal location after visiting Hardwick Hall, National Trust. Various menu, everyone finds something for themself. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. I ordered a speciality of the day and the food was excellent! Unfortunately there was no time to try desert or local ales recommend by other visitors- next time!
