Best place to go and eat in chesterfield. Sometimes we go and can’t get a table to eat which we don’t mind as we know how popular it is. Love the fact that it’s cash only. People need to stop being lazy and go get cash out before they go, if things carry on cash will disappear and every penny you spend will be tracked, I think I’d rather stick with cash thanks. I also think the staff are brilliant and do a very good job (even though that’s not enough for some people who expect table service, like the staff aren’t busy enough) especially the kitchen who never disappoint despite working in a kitchen which is the size of a broom cupboard. If people want cheap, cheerful food with table service there’s a whetherspoons over the road, I prefer paying that bit extra and having next level food. Keep up the good work guys

Impressive real ale selection located in the centre of chesterfield. Booked for food on a Saturday night, all our meals were good particularly enjoyed the haggis starter rare to see it outside of Scotland. Our pie and burger mains were also good. Visited in October and it was cold inside so would fancy it during winter, whether they didn’t have the heating on or what we weren’t sat near to the door. Overall a good traditional pub that does quality great value food.

Business trip, 2 people. We looked at 3 pubs in the area and I chose this one as it appeared they served home made food. And it did not disappoint.. For the money, one the best gastro pubs I've been to in the whole of England. If this establishment was open in my town, "down south" , there would be queues daily. Excellent food, amazingly friendly service to us "OOT" and exceptional value for money.

This place is amazing. The food is off the map in terms of quality. To say the portions are generous would be a massive understatement. Great service, great selection of drinks. Can't fault it. We will be back

I absolutely love this place we dine here as often as we can. They are super accommodating for groups so we do birthdays there's quite alot. The food is the food is fantastic I've never had any complaints, I've now tried a bit of everything of the menu and its all been so good quality. There's not a kids menu but they do small portions of the larger meals for them which is great the kids like having the same as us. The vegan vegetarian menu is very good here there's a great choice my vegan friend is a huge fan of the vegan haggis. The staff are always helpful behind the bar In choosing the right cocktail for yog they make me special ones up. The kitchen staff need a little write up as they always deliver top notch food out of that little kitchen, they have great talents. And lastly the owner is so friendly he's always walking about making sure everything is running smooth chatting to customers he really makes us feel welcome. You won't be disappointed coming here !

Cannot recommend highly enough. Warm welcome to a quirky pub full of character. The menu is amazing as is the drinks menu! We had an offer of 2 burgers for £16 which were superb. An order mistake was corrected quickly with no fuss and the food was more than worth waiting for. I cannot remember when I had a better burger! Just delicious 😋

We had a very tasty and filling Sunday Roast at The Market Pub, whilst enjoying live music and friendly staff. Dog friendly too which gave our dining experience a nice touch to have our puppy permitted to socialise and explore. Thank you for a lovely evening from all our family. X

Unreal pub! I’ve come along with my 2 kids, partner and a couple friends. We’re all visiting from London. These guys went above and beyond for us, and it seems totally normal! Helped me sort kids out really quickly as they knew what we needed. The food was incredible. Sea bass, pies and burgers. Everything was 10/10! Couldn’t rave enough about the market pub! If you’re visiting near by, this friendly booster should be on your list! Great atmosphere too!

Nice pub. A lovely choice of 9 guest hand pulled ales. A pub full of character. Shame it doesn't do the Camra discount.

Everything about this town centre pub is appealing. It's easy to write off such a pub as 'not suitable ' because it's location is directly onto the market square and many traditional pubs in these locations are described as "shabby" or "dives".... BUT DONT BE FOOLED inside is a delightful, busy, thriving pub. Yes it's quite dark but this only adds to a great atmosphere. There is a large selection of ales and ciders on-tap and many spirits to choose from... but the main attraction is the excellent food!!! They have a regularly changing menu and certain evenings of the week there are 'two for one' deals. They hold regular special events evenings including drinks tasting evenings and themed food nights. We attended a Jamaican night food evening. The meal didn't disappoint. There were five main courses plus mini cocktail to start and coffee/ tea to finish. The music was Jamaican themed... and the place was packed. !!! The young man ( and he was certainly young !!! )who served us was amazing. He had friendly conversation, answered questions and went to find out if he wasn't able to reply.. he kept us informed about the food we were eating and served with great attention. Big applause should go to the kitchen staff who work in the smallest professional kitchen I have ever seen. They work together like a well oiled machine and never appear flustered. The manager and bar staff are all great. I literally can't find any fault. ... the one drawback is parking especially during the day. The other added benefit is dog are allowed entry. Be aware it is a very busy place... AND irs cash only, so go prepared. I end by saying I have been many times to this pub, each time I have enjoyed my visit. From a quick coffee and snack lunch to themed evenings. YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT. I will be back and highly recommended 👌 😋

Some of the best pub food you'll have. I've been here twice now and the food has been very good. The first time we popped in and had burgers with home made chips and they were lovely and reasonably priced. The second time we went we had the rib eye steak special with chips, salad and an onion rings side and I have to say the steak was cooked to perfection and nice and thick. My only criticism (if you can call it that) was the plates, which were slate style and just not necessary presentation wise as the food speaks for itself.

First time here, lovely town centre pub was lovely and busy and got a table straight away. Great selection of drinks and good food menu. Good selection of vegan and vegetarian foods too. Had a small wait for food but it was busy. Burger and chips was amazing and friend had fish and chips they both looked great, tasted great and reasonably priced. Staff absolutely lovely Deffently will be back here.

We were out in Chesterfield, lunchtime came along and food was calling! I have a real allergy to dairy so eating out is stressful. We were reading the menu outside a pub, a local came out and said "If you want good food go to The Market Pub, its S... here!" We follwed his directions & went in. I explained about my allergies & the barman replied "No problems with allergies, tell us what they are & we'll work round them." It's a traditional English Pub full of character & impeccably clean. The beer is well kept & well delivered. Great food loads of it at a price that won't break the bank. Take cash & they don't take cards.
