This is an amazing cafe in a fantastic location, right next to the famous Eastgate Clock. A great selection of tea, coffee, ice cream, cakes and beers. The homemade cakes are a must try (especially the Malteser tray bake). The beers are brewed by the owner and are well worth a try. My favourite is definitely the IPA.
The staff are all amazing and helpful.
If you're lucky, you can sit at the table with "the best view in Chester."
You will fall in love with this place.
Chester is full of little nooks and crannies which is part of its eternal charm. And up on the city walls, next to the clock, is this delightful cafe. Right in the centre of the city, it’s the perfect place to take five and have a drink and snack - not forgetting the porthole looking out, with ‘The Best View in Chester’, which is the icing on the cake!
Beautiful little cafe along the walls,by the clock Bridge. Lovely warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and very pleasant staff. Tried the cherry crumble, delicious! Lovely area inside to sit and enjoy a few moments of peace. We had a look through "the best view in chester" window, they're not wrong! Absolutely recommend this Lovely cafe for a quick brew stop whilst enjoying the beauty of Chester. Thankyou for your kindness, will definitely be back.
Found this wonderful little tearoom the other day. Just had a coffee but enjoyed the views and the relaxing atmosphere. It's a lovely place. Just next to the Eastgate clock. Really enjoyable.
An absolutely gorgeous little cafe located on the Chester walls right after the Eastgate clock. A nice place to have a good cup of hot or cold beverage or make a purchase and enjoy a nice splash of Chester beer. The place also sells baked goods like homemade cakes, scones and such. Great for outdoor seating in the walls and enjoy a drink with a view of one of Britain's iconic clocks on a sunny day, or sit inside the cozy and calming wooden seating area inside and enjoy the Chester city's high street, either way, this is a great place to be.
Shoutout to the lovely homemade lime curd sponge cake baked by one of the owners, a must try!
A really good cafe, with character. A lot of thought and effort has gone into running the place. My wife and I have become regulars and are known to the staff. There is a large variety of food and drink available, my favourite being the rock buns. The ice cream stall offers a large variety of flavours. Interestingly, the owner brews his own local beer which can be purchased at Huxley's, but also Moxy's Hotel and the River Boats. Go and see the tremendous view of Eastgate Street through the ships cabin port hole, or underneath the Eastgate Clock. Paintings of Chester, birthday cards, place mats and postcards are available to purchase. Staff very friendly and Huxley's is a place you can relax. Don't forget about the loyalty cards.
We stopped for the ice cream as we started our walk on the walls, but came back for the locally brewed beer. The honey stem ginger ice cream was delicious, so much so we had another scoop on our way out of town. We also came in for a pint of the Chester’s bitter, which was creamy and malty and only the slightest touch of hops. It was one of the nicest ales I have had and I am not a beer drinker. We are taking some home with us. Neil, the owner, was exceptionally pleasant and helpful.
Great place on the City wall. We had lovely coffee as we set out on our Roman walk great beer when we got back! And ice cream. And scones. Knowledgeable & attentive staff.
Do you know when you’re strolling through town and all of a sudden you find one hidden gem that lives deep within the city that is beyond your heart desires?
That’s how I felt when I came across this café.
Straight off the bat I was immediately amazed by the home-baked cake and I hardly see any Cafes or restaurants that have the talent or skills to do such a thing like that.
The second me and my mother (who was with me at the time for a day out) came inside we were immediately welcomed warmly by the wholesome stuff and I have never seen such wonderful service in my entire life.
The staff happily engaged in conversation there was loads of options to choose from and everything was made from scratch, including (as previously mentioned) their beer.
I ordered a cup of hot chocolate and a lemon drizzle cake and after order me be my mother took a seat near the window and what is easily one of the most cottage-like and cozy cafés I have ever been in my entire life.
I felt like I travelled back in time to the 1950s from the 1960s it was small but had a very vintage and welcoming vibe to it which I really enjoyed.
I sadly cannot remember how long are order took to get to our table but let it be known it was super quick and fast.
I first took a sip of the hot chocolate and I am delighted to say it was one of THE GREATEST cups of hot chocolate in my entire life!
Hot chocolatey and bursting with cocoa flavour.
I even invited my mother to give it a try and she absolutely adored i!
So the right off the bat the drinks are five stars!
And then I tucked into my lemon drizzle cake and I am not 100% sweet tooth but I can tell you this was absolutely delicious!
The cake was not overly sweet which I have a problem with cakes in general sometimes and the lemon flavour was not overly strong the cake had a perfect balance of sweetness and lemony taste that and works together beautifully.
And the cake itself was beautiful and moist not crumbly and dry in the slightest.
I’m not to mention they really do have the best view in Chester!
I looked through the little window and I was amazed at how much I could see Chester and I have been living in Chester throughout my entire life so to see a view of which I have never seen before really astonished me which was one of the many highlights of our time (me and my mother) in this café.
Can I please also apologise to your staff for the rumours and events of when someone brought in a dominoes to eat.
I do personally feel that that was extremely rude and you should not have been treated like that for your café was absolutely incredible.
Please please please forgive me for not finding you earlier as I should’ve done so long ago as this is one of the greatest cafés that I have ever been to in my entire life!
I plan to return there for my 22nd birthday and boy I can’t wait!
Google said they were closed but they were open. Never had ice cream made with clotted cream before so I thought I'd give it a try. Got the vanilla. It was really good as was the cone. Cool spot right by the clock.
