Amazing food, really well cooked and presented and lots of interesting choices and twists on original dishes. Staff were also brilliant and the kitchen is open to the seating area so you can get a feel for what's going on! Totally recommend.

At The Forge, we had the pleasure of trying their wild venison scotch egg, which was hands down the best scotch egg I've ever tasted. The flavours were exceptional, and it left a lasting impression. On the other hand, the sirloin of beef didn't meet my expectations. The fat wasn't rendered down enough, resulting in a chewy texture that was a bit disappointing. One of the highlights was the captivating open kitchen, allowing guests to witness the skilled team in action. However, there were occasional fumes from the open kitchen that was unpleasant at times. Nevertheless, the service team was welcoming and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.

We really enjoyed our short stay at The Forge. The hotel is modernly decorated and has a very elegant atmosphere. The room had everything one would need for an overnight stay and was nice and clean. The bar has a nice variety of cocktails and the service is good. It can get busy and the split service between the restaurant and bar can introduce a wait but the staff do well to respond as quickly as they can. We didn't dine in the restaurant for lunch or dinner so I can't comment on the food in that respect, but we did have breakfast which was pleasant. It was also nice to see vegan options on the menu. Lovely modern hotel located in the centre of Chester within walking distance from plenty of bars and restaurants.

Bit of a wait on arrival but once we got our seat the meal was lovely. We particularly enjoyed the venison tartare. The wine list was excellent, but as with many upper end restaurants these days very little choice of quality beers. Just a couple of big standard lagers or similar. Craft beer offers such a great variety, and there are several good local breweries. There doesn't have to be loads. 4 or 5 quality cans would make a huge difference.

I had a wonderful time at Forge, Chester. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The ambience was impeccable. The food lived up to the reputation of their Michelin star rating. Overall, I had a great fine dining experience and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Excellent food. Lovely staff. Highly recommended! The scallops for starter were definitely the highlight - loved them. Incredible venison for main too. We went for dinner with our 1 year old and the staff were really great with him too.

The Forge was very busy. Excellent standards and service. Food was very tasty. Highly recommend. Visited the Forge Restaurant last night for a Chef Special 7 course taster menu. Food was delicious with service and standards excellent.

Nice staff and good environment. Ordered market fish and fallow deer as main, both are tasty. Fallow deer with bone marrow requires an extra £12 VAT but still worth a try. Desserts are very good and highly recommend to order. Will recommend others to visit The Forge if they come to Chester.

Forge is set in the hotel indigo and has a lovely vibe to the place. The food was nice however as with fine dining the portion sizes are very small and I don’t think it was just our table that noticed this. I think I had more meat with the pigeon starter (£12) then I did with the sirloin main (£30). I know it’s fine dining and I am aware you pay a lot more but even at that price the value for money is quite ridiculous. The sirloin was two slices, about a credit card size and 5mm thick. However my partner ordered a fish main and got a huge chunk of fish, so she was very pleased. I over saw the portion sizes of the chicken and pork and again both dishes lacked size on the protein. The sirloin comes with ‘some’ veggies but without the chips (additional cost..I think £6) I would have gone hungry. All in all, it’s a good place to eat but be prepared for small plates The photo is of the pigeon starter, I didn’t take a photo of the main unfortunately due to being sat next two some other guests who kept being a little awkward

We visited for lunch yesterday, Friday 22 September. We were greeted by Helen who remained with us throughout our visit. The menu was creative and intriguing at the same time. Dishes were beautifully presented and flavoursome. Helen made us feel really comfortable. She has a serious knowledge of the charity shops in our home town of Frodsham. We had a fabulous visit and Helen is an asset to cherish. Would definitely recommend

A fine restaurant with some excellent main course dishes. The roasted chicken is a must try. If you or your party is people who love meat, the forge will not disappoint you. Special shout out to sous chef Mike, who was able to fantastically carry out the service and standards while head chef was taking the day off during the service I went. Shout out to waitress Phyo who was one of the sweetest and dedicated servers I've seen

Must admit that I was a bit skeptical about that restaurant, but I'm so happy I was wrong. We ordered scotch egg and chicken liver pate for starters, both were really well prepared. Then we tried deer and lamb, and again, full of interesting flavours, and the portion sizes were just right. Finally, we had orange souffle for dessert, and it really surprised me, since it is always about chocolate and usually horribly oversweetened, but here it was very delicate. Our host was Edina, and she was super friendly and helpful. All in all, must admit that the reputation of that place is well deserved, and if you are to visit just one restaurant in Chester, The Forge is a safe choice.

Lovely service and decor but the food needs a little improvement. Given you’re likely to have steak for main, it would be great to have more fish options for starters. We all had the curried scallops but they weren’t good. The steak & sides were tasty though.

We have dined here a few times now and it seems to get better and better. The service was amazing from the moment we stepped in to the moment we left and the food was faultless. We were taken to choose our own steak, we thought a 1.5k sirloin would be to big to share, but went with it. Safe to say nothing was left. It was stunning. We will most definitely be back. Thank you Eddie and Edina.

I was very fortunate to dine here earlier this week. The restaurant is stunning! A great vibe, beautiful decor and with an open kitchen...which I love. Its always nice to see food being prepared in front of you. In my opinion it shows confidence in the product! I dined here with two friends so between us we were able to get a real flavour for the menu. I had the wood pigeon...which was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. My friends had the scallops. The team were very attentive with regular (but not irritatingly regular) returns to the table to ensure we had everything we needed. Yes there may be a few teething problems in the first couple of days as staff find their feet in a totally new environment but thats hardly a criticism...its hardly the end of the world if they were a little late with my drink I then had the Roe Shoulder (to myself) this was delicious and was served with the now infamous "dirty mash" and deer gravy. Desert I needed something light and refreshing so the pavlova hit all the right spots. I have now been fortunate to eat at all of these restaurants owned I believe by the same group. Whilst they each have their own unique charm, character and flare their is consistency with the food and vibe. This place is a great addition to the Chester nightlife and as we more ever more out of lockdown restrictions will be a place to visit with friends and family. Well worth making a special journey for!

An absolute amazing experience. The food totally devine, watching the skillful Chefs cook with such passion, working with such Joy along side one another, was delightful to see. Our waiter was extremely friendly and the service from everyone was first class. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we shall most definitely be returning on our next trip to Chester.

Wow! What can I say. This is an amazing place to dine or just hang out for a drink and savour one of the amazing cocktails they serve. The menu is delightful with a strong angle towards sustainability source wild food. The wood pigeon starter was phenomenal followed by the pave of fallow deer and the most delicious dessert, a menu that was hard to choose from as I wanted it all!!!! The atmosphere is quite sublime with intimate seating areas and a beautifully decorated private dining room. I will most definitely be visiting again and the fact I live in Dorset is of no concern as this sort of place and good is well worth the drive!!!!!
