Great boozer with a wide range and good value cocktails. Tv's dotted around so sports fans aren't disappointed but they also aren't intrusive. Lively crowd but staff great at knowing who is next to be served at the bar.

Popped into the Watergates on our way to wales. It’s a beautiful pub with a lot of history. The autumnal decorations were lovely. Beer on draft was really good , was nice to see a friendly face at the bar too. First time visiting Chester and this pub is definitely one to visit if you’re in the area.
Evening meal had here was lovely, staff really friendly, good choice of food, cater for kids veggies and vegan too. Found drinks prices a bit expensive, two pints and two half's nearly £19. Would recommend u try this place.
Lovely old curved vault like venue with little snugs. Bigger than you might expect. Service was friendly. Food was pub grub. The shared chicken wings seemed a little on the small side while the cheese toastie was nice. Prices are reasonable and I'd expect the vibe would be good with more people. We'
Love Watergates, beer is great, wonderful bar staff. In the summer friends and I adore sitting up on the roof terrace, such a sun trap.
Been loads of times and I'm sure we'll be back plenty more!
