Me and my husband loved the place the food was great and reasonably priced,There were 2,lady's waiting on all the tables and they were great,we never had to wait long between courses, and customers were asking them for things like mayonnaise etc, and nothing was to much trouble for the lady's they were very pleasant and very helpful,I would recommend this tearoom 100%
Whenever I am in Chester this is a place I pop into for a cuppa and bite to eat. Friendly staff and lovely food.
Lovely tearoom and food is fab. Had afternoon tea - yum yum. Bit of a hike to loos but there is a sign advising people that are less able. Lots of character. Our second visit and we will return.
This is a wonderful place to eat. The food is always good and so is the service and staff.
Lovely little find! Went back there again this morning before returning back to Manchester after our weekend break! Best cup of tea ever! Proper tea - not tea bags. Will be back there on our next visit to Chester without a doubt!
Great character in the building
Lovely staff
Plenty of choice of food and drink
Love going to Katies, the food is lovely, the staff are friendly and although it's a bit of a trek to the toilets it's an interesting journey through the old merchant house.

Amazing fitted 8 of us in for afternoon tea for a hen do. Food was amazing xx
I had an excellent lunch here today - tasty food and great service from a very friendly waitress (she was right, the chocolate brownie ice cream cake is a life changing event! :D).
Would wholeheartedly recommend Katie's Tearooms to anyone.
Vistited here for afternoon tea.Excellent value for money, cakes are massive. Will go back again, lovely friendly staff.
I visit for a Deutsche Sprachige with friends every other Saturday morning. We have the 3rd floor area, the staff are excellent as well as the grub!
Gorgeous tea room definitely worth a visit. Their afternoon tea was delicious! ☕️
Excellent lunch.
Sandwiches were fabulous, chicken with white bread.
Came with salad and trimmings. More than I expected given onl a sandwich. Very pleasantly surprised.
Soup was also on the cards. This was great too.
Our waitress was supper friendly, where at the time she said it's her second shift, so new then. All the same highly professional.
Prices are great value and the food and drink was of exceptional quality.
The tea rooms have the old Chester historical Roman arches inside so add to the great atmosphere.
If your are looking for a simple lunch I would highly recommend Katie's Tea Rooms.
Beautiful little tea shop. Unfortunately due to the age of the building it isn’t accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Toilets are on the top floor, a good climb.
Tempting range of food that should cover most tastes at any time of the day.
Sausage and egg baps were a big hit.
The scones were the star of our last visit. Plenty of fruit in a very good scone served with a good portion of clotted cream and jam.
A really interesting building makes for an excellent atmosphere and the staff are friendly and efficient.
Good value for money
A tea room that serves variety of food and drink. There is an afternoon tea set or you can order just a pot of tea and a very yummy scone separately. The building is a very old and full with history. It might not be the most prettiest tea room but it gives a feeling of very local atmosphere.
Exceptionally nice and filling breakfast for an affordable price. Very friendly and attentive staff. The building is a real curiosity, full of history, and you'll see much of it on any walk up to the toilets.
Lovely!! A great little place. Very good friendly service. The food was freshly prepared and tasty. I had grated cheese and pickle sandwiches on lovely soft brown bread served with salad garnish and crisps. We had a pot of tea made with proper tea leaves, very nice!!
All the food that came out of the kitchen to other customers looked lovely.
Anyone with mobility difficulties may not be able to access the rest room as it was up a couple of flights of stairs, but they were immaculately clean.
This will be our "go to" place for light lunches in the future😊
Excellent place to eat in Chester! Beautiful old building and plenty of atmosphere.
Wide choice of dishes on the menu and they include vegetarian/vegan. Dish of the day is usually a good choice. Good portions of food and a good price for decent, home cooked food. Friendly staff and you don't have to wait too long when it's busy.
Best place in Chester for gluten free food. Great menu, good staff and lovely premises. Shame about the trek to the toilets but just keep following the signs and heading upwards.
Nice meal, good value. Amazing historical atmosphere. Service was incredible from a young lady on her first day in the job - very pleasant and helpful. Very busy.
Came here with a voucher for afternoon tea, didn't know it existed but will definitely go again and recommend it to others. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, I'm a right fusspot but nothing was too much trouble. Sandwiches and cakes were delicious, thoroughly enjoyed it.
As a recently diagnosed coeliac I was slightly worried about eating out and avoiding gluten! Katie’s had an easy go read menu, and the GF sandwich was absolutely delicious! I’ve not found a good GF bread, so when I had theirs I was surprisingly pleased and now have a name! The coffee was good too! Staff are all young, and well organised! Someone took the order, 2 brought out the order and the lady at the end sorted out the bill! All in all, a well organised outfit! Beautiful building! Even if the toilets are slightly out of the way 3 floors up!
Absolute gem of a tea shop . Great quirky old building , we sat upstairs . Restuarant quality food at affordable prices , unlike a lot of places these days . Had very very tasty grilled salmon dish , veg was excellent . Then finished with most amazing Belgian waffle , huge. Will most definitely recommend to others and be back ourselves. Thank you and keep up the good work.
We stopped in for tea and a scone. What a little gem of a place. Our afternoon tea with a cherry and sultana scone with jam and clotted cream was to die for. And all for £12 was a bargain. The building is old and quirky, staff are friendly and helpful. None of the menu items are over £15 and theres a plenty to choose from, well worth a visit.
Fantastic tea room, full of character, lots to choose from the menu, great food and great service!
Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in the area!

One of the best experiences in Chester. The original tea is so good. My favourite menu is fruity scone, melted in the mouth with soft cream and jam. Price was not too expensive.
Had afternoon tea for 2 and it was amazing! The staff were so helpfull and friendly, my partner is so fussy and not keen on the sandwich choices and they change them for us with no issue. Tha k you for lovely afternoon 😊
Absolutely amazing 13th Century building serving food and drink. Very querky building. Toilet's are on the top floor so would not suit a less able bodied person if they need the loo here. Food and drink were very nice and reasonably priced. All staff very friendly too.
