My hubby's favourite bar!!! So many beers to choose from and not enough time!!! Would highly recommend the caramel and coconut rum... to die for Really lovely friendly staff too. An all round great bar

Best selection of craft beers in Chester, without doubt, particularly on tap. Gets the big names in UK and Scandinavia, including heavyweight stouts and DIPAs. Beware of high alcohol contents and similarly high prices for these, though! Good venue and great staff.

Top place and great selection of beer, not some cheap plastic pub for kids with mass produced crap - recommended

The Cellar bar is a lovely place to visit in Chester. Great choice of drinks whatever your tastes. Good spirit selection, 4 lines of Cask Ales, which are constantly rotated and changed. Various lagers, Ciders and beers on tap and a great international bottle selection. Staff are all great and have some awesome banter. They host a great pub quiz that is good fun but also not too easy. If you are staying in any of the City Road hotels this is a standard replacement for any of the hotel bars. They Also have a "Cellar Bar" which is used for functions and live music. Not such a great selection but it has a great atmosphere.

A lovely beer bar, lots of choice beyond the four real ales. My love of cascade caused me select the Boggart cascade. Despite the fact I surprisingly couldn't much taste my favourite hop, it was still a lovely beer. They have a whole collection of quality international bottled beers if you can't find something on the bar to tempt you. Nice feel to the venue, lots of beer stuff covering the walls.

The cellar bar is the former city bar but is nothing like its past. there are a great selection of events and seems to be a place when original live music lovers go to listen to some great music. they have a great selection of ales and beers and the staff seemed very pleased to help. would definitely recommend going do the cellar to catch some great tunes in a great atmosphere.

I recently booked the private party area to host my 25th birthday. It was such an incredible night, thanks to the fantastic staff- especially Andrew and Rachel who were so friendly and attentive & being able to decorate the room made it feel so much more personal! The food was great, we had pizzas and fries and it was great that gluten free pizzas were catered for too. There was a perfect dance floor area that came with disco lights and the fairy lights and candles created such a perfect atmosphere. Thankyou so much to everyone at The Cellar- I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to host a private party in Chester!

Stopped off here on a Sunday afternoon whilst on our way into town. First time here and was blown away by the overall experience. Friendly, lovely staff. Massive array of tasty beverages to choose from. Inviting atmosphere. Oh and don’t forget the free bacon butty!! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the lunch menu, but the food being brought out looked great. See you again!

I popped into The Cellar on a late Saturday afternoon as I had some time to kill before my train (the station is just five minutes down the road). I had a warm welcome from the staff to make me feel I wasn’t in a completely strange pub. The pint of Landlord was good: that is all I had, so I cannot comment on the food. This is definitely a place I will visit again. I’ll probably choose the wrong train so I can have two pints!

I came across this place by accident while walking. It was busy and looked good. There's a great selection of beer and I was tempted by the Cheese of the Day, which was delicious. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Great Bar and fantastic people ! The manager was funny and a brilliant host ! Do you sell guiness? No we sell much better stout ! And he was not wrong ( London Black ) absolutely beautiful and gorgeous drink . Our first drinks and last drinks of a night away in Chester were spent in The Celler .

Awesome craft ale & cider bar, loads of choice and has something for everyone! Situated just a few minutes walk from the train station on City Road, just over the canal on the right hand side. Always sunny on the inside, despite the cold wet and wind on the outside! Step in, relax and chill out on the big brown comfortable sofas. Camra pub winners & in the current 2022 guide. Definitely worth a visit!

Smashing beery bar with a friendly happy & knowledgeable team behind it. I’m not a ‘big’ beer drinker but they’ve always a selection of interesting, often fruity & lower alcohol beers available. Ask them: they’ll help! A great Chester bar.

We were lured in by the Erdinger sign above the front door which gave promise of exotic ales a plenty. And there was. I can't even remember the name of the stout I had, but it was delicious, with rich coffe notes and slight burnt toast taste. Despite the varied choice I had another pint of that. My mates had a variety of IPAs and the like and all seemed more than happy. The bar staff were great fun, but I was particularly impressed by how professionally the boss man dealt with a crowd of around eight or nine, 30 somethings that entered obviously a bit worse for wear. He quickly spotted the potential of them upsetting his regular clientele and tactfully showed them the door without having to resort to anything other than a firm insistence they weren't welcome and would not be served. I would definitely reccomend The Cellar and it will be on my list to visit when I'm next in Chester.

Tuesday 29th August 2023 This great music and real ale pub does a great range of hand pumped and keg/craft ales on today The last behind the bar was knowledgeable on beers The real ales 6th of them had a 9% ale one and there was a 10 and 13% not real ale on The place was right up my street, a proper 20th century feel pub👍👍👍 I would strongly recommend anyone who likes real ale to drink in here
