Just been in for another Thursday steak night. You really can't get much better for £10 a head with a drink!

If you are visiting or local to Chester you won't go wrong with a drink and a bite to eat at the Bear & Billet. The bar is dog friendly, so don't hesitate to walk in, if passing. There is a small outdoor area to the rear of the ground floor seating area and two floors above. Lunch / Dinner / Watching sports and Functions are all catered for in this exceptionally old atmospheric building.

OK. Back in the late 1970's this was one of my top ten pubs of all time. I was horrified when it closed for a few years but reopened maybe 10 or so years later. First pub I ever had IOM brewery Okell's .. and they still sell it. Lovely bar over three floors ... tv's on each. Ic n Flic had food incl very filling corn beef hash for £14. Still well worth finding.

Another of Chester's historic gems, a good selection of beers, with a nice vibe to the place.

Massive portions. I was so full after having 3 proper courses and just an orange lemonade.

Well worth breaking off the City walls walk at Bridgegate to visit this Grade I listed, 17th century building.
