From the moment we checked in the staff couldn’t be more helpful or friendly. The embience was exactly as expected oldy worldy and full of character and quirkiness. The Sunday beef was delicious and we didn’t leave a morsel. Generous cheese plate and topped off with a great nights sleep, helped by the laughs and giggles of the possibility of seeing a ghost in our room!😅👻 No ghost but a great breakfast washed down with excellent coffee that set us up for the day touring Chester. Can’t wait to return definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Just amazing. I messaged at 6:30am to ask about food that met my dietary requirements by the time we arrived at lunch time they’d actually made a menu that catered for me! I’ve never had anywhere be so accommodating before, and when the food arrived I wasn’t disappointed. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough. I will definitely be visiting them again x

Watched the Lions down Columbia in this great historic pub. Barmen were super friendly and provided excellent service. Decent selection or real sales and the food was good.

Loved the spooky atmosphere & stories. Make sure to ask for the folder behind the bar. Looked fab for Halloween with a themed menu. Not sure I'd brave staying though.

Did nor read reviews and popped in as daughter likes scary stuff.. decided to eat as we were hungry. The staff member serving a very deep voiced bloke was very helpful and friendly. The food was was old school amazing and far better than the price would suggest and all home cooked. Menu is a treat to read in a haunted pub.. thanks for a great experience the staff were a credit to you. Please never paint & decorate... love the old world looks

Most excellent lunchtime thanks to Ross, who went above and beyond to give a sterling service! Cracking ales on tap with a most satisfying steak n kidney pie meal. The pub has a wonderful atmosphere, with many original features. 5 out of 5 from all 6 of us!

Great olde world pub you can feel the history of the place with the old oak beams if only they could talk.the staff are very friendly only downside is that the kitchen was being renovated at the time and would of loved to have had a meal here I'll be back.

Cannot comment on the rooms but came on here for a couple of drinks and two of the loveliest ladies from Liverpool served us so friendly and the pride they had doing their job was plain and refreshing to see they were fabulous what a lovely cosy pub

We had our wedding reception at the Kings Head upstairs private function room and it was absolutely wonderful. The location was perfect as we had our ceremony at Chester Town Hall, and then the wedding party very much enjoyed walking through town over to the Kings Head. Everyone just had such a good time and it was exactly what we wanted - boozy and lots of dancing! Demi was so helpful with arranging everything and organizing viewings. We had a buffet which was delicious and in particular the vegetarian lasagne was the talk of the guests (despite not being vegetarians!). We had hired a guitarist/DJ which worked really well in the size of the room. The bar staff were lovely, really helpful, and even took a video of the end of the night which they sent us the next day which was really sweet. Thank you so much for making our wedding day exactly as we wanted it.

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Low ceilings with original old beams add to the atmosphere, well worth a visit. Very close to the heart of Chester.

This is a haunted hotel the rooms are stunning but if you want to investigate you won't get to bed until 3 in the morning or you can investigate all night amazing grub I had a pint called hair of the dog and it was the perfect name of the lager
