One of the best (if not the best) cafes I have ever been to. For starters it has a warm, welcoming and communal feel, it's animal friendly, the staff know the menu inside out, amazing coffee and they serve alcohol! (So tempted to try the tequila hot chocolate if only I wasn't driving). The owner is adorable and has customer service PERFECTED. Then the menu - cheese toasties, every which way you could imagine and with amazing combination of flavours and options. Genius. This place really is a hidden gem and I would be there every day if I lived closer!
Sunday wouldn't be a Sunday without the ultimate and the nuclear meltdown cheese toasted sandwich! Homemade chilli jam is a must have! Lovely place for breakfast lunch or tea!

Absolutely fantastic little place! Hubby took me and our daughter on Mother's day, and found us a seat even though busy. The toasties were amazing, and they happily accommodated my daughters non toasted request. Can't wait to go back!
Absolutely love this place. Been a few times now and never disappoints. The ultimate meltdown is an absolute winner... mac and cheese on a grilled cheese sandwich - what more could you want?!?!? ��

Perfectly located for a meadows walk with dog and nibble after. Absolutely delicious coffee and super tasty grilled cheese butties. Will be returning to give the mac n cheese a go. ��

Wow! Absolutely amazing place. My macc cheese was blinking gorgeous, washed down with an elderflower gin cooler...perfection. My hubby had a gorgeous toastie, but had envy when he saw the fish finger one! Can't wait to come back for more amazing food, snuggles with Kitty and just friendly chat. Great service. Thank you
Meltdown has a lovely family atmosphere that makes enjoying the grilled cheese sandwiches very relaxing.
This family atmosphere is reflective in the friendly and attentive service, with a willingness to quickly accept alterations or substitutions to the food when ordering.
The grilled cheeses are cooked well and there is a large variety. But they are very heavy and indulgent so don't come looking for a light snack. Only thing I would suggest to improve would be to serve a light salad alongside the sandwiches to cut through the cheese and fat.

This was a nice fresh idea. When my friend told me about meltdown, my first thoughts went to "this sounds like festival food". Without spoiling it for you, everything here is served on a cheese toasty. I went for bacon, sausage and black pudding on mine and I wasnt disappointed. The cheese was nice and creamy, the black pudding and bacon were nice and crispy and the sausage was....very sausagey!! Staff and service were spot on. Though we are out, the inside looked nice and clean. Outside seating was available.

Excellent service and the best, dirtiest cheese toasties you have ever had. You can even make your own creation which the owner - HRH Toastie Queen - and staff actively encourage.
There's plenty of options on the menu too as well as sides and plenty of choice when it comes to drinks.
Been here a few times now due to the friendly atmosphere and the amazing quality of food too. They also have regular events, kitchen takeovers and collaborations with other independents which are normally in the evenings.
A brilliant hidden gem that everyone talks about, bit of a trek out of town but you'll be glad you did as you'll work up an appetite to conquer some of these cheesy behemoths
Oh wow! If you love cheese, then you'll lurve this place. Such a variety of delicious dishes, and sit in the cosy little cafe or takeaway and eat at your leisure. Great friendly staff too. Will certainly be making a return visit.
Woke up Sunday morning feeling a bit worse for wear, after a night of heavy drinking and eating, needing some proper food. Saw photos of the toasties at Meltdown and I knew this is what I needed.
I ordered the Breakfast toastie, with bacon, sausage, fried egg, hash brown and black pudding, and when it arrived it looked behemoth!
I tucked right in and didn't stop, it was perfectly cooked. A nice crispy toastie, made a beautiful sounding crunch, and the flavours came bursting through, the sausage in particular was amazing.

Amazing! Best toasties and mac n cheese I've ever eaten. Really lovely owner/chef who is clearly passionate about her business. All round a fantastic experience with added bonus of a spaniel. Highly recommended.
Best grilled cheese sandwich hands down. Went for the house with homemade chilli jam (which was delicious) and my partner added bacon. Was awesome👌brilliant customer service too, gentleman working in there was lovely!

Now I’m pretty fond of my grilled cheese as I’m a fan of Northern Soul in Manchester, so when I discovered Meltdown this weekend I couldn’t believe I’d never heard of it before. Just a short walk over the bridge Chester and you’ll find a lovely little place away from the bustle of the city. The staff were really bloody friendly, and just the kind of chilled atmosphere I needed this weekend. I had the pizza grilled cheese and halloumi lollipops, and both were spot on! 🙌🏼
Fantastic toasties and the owner is a complete character, absolutely lovely lady and provides fabulous customer service.
Prices are a little on the expensive side but it's defo worth a visit. Try the cheese and jalapeño toasty if you like it a little spicy or (if they still do it) for a proper cheese hit the Christmas Dinner toasties...wow!

I found they were mentioned somewhere (can't remember now) for making the best grilled sandwiches in Chester. So I made sure we eat here when we visited Chester. It was up to the hype 🙌🏽 I had been craving for a good grilled cheese sandwich for so long and this satisfied it completely! We ordered their Goat's Cheese-Spinach-Chilli Jam one and The Swiss - both were sooooo good 🤤 Thinking about 'em now makes me hungry 😭 So if you get a chance, pop by this small, cosy place for an amazing grilled cheese!
Love love love can't rave about this place enough. With everything going on the moment Laura is doing lasagna and mac and cheese they will not dissapoint. Everything is spot on can't wait till we can go and chill inside again
