Visited here last Saturday April 1st as I was staying over in the area had to make a decision to either drink in town or visit this countryside pub and glad I made the right choice what a superb gem being an outsider the locals were very friendly football on screen in 1 room pool table in another and live music in the other room as for real ales that I went for a great choice on had 4 different 1s while I was there and each pint was absolutely spot on well kept and wud definitely visit this place again

Always a great pub. Now amazing with its lounge and bar refurbishment. Food is superb and they do not skimp on the portions. Bar staff know their stuff and the landlord and landlady make you feel welcome and valued. Easily the best pub in the area by miles...

We held our Mam’s surprise 60th birthday party here last weekend and I have to say it was fab. Nothing was too much trouble and the room looked lovely. Also the food was amazing and we had a few guests comment on how lovely it was. Would like to say a huge thankyou to Jess and everyone else at the Smiths for such a fantastic night, was great from start to finish

What a fabulous night.great floor singers who entertained us with their talent and humour. Then we were delighted to host the fantastic Catherine Craig and Brian Willoughby...who thrilled us all by their brilliance of voice, guitar playing and wonderful songs...so warm and thought provoking. What a wonderful night..many thanks to you all xx

Lovely Sunday Lunch, delicious food. Felt a bit crammed in and we were sitting at a small round bar table rather than a proper dining table, but that's all part of the charm. Couldn't fault the food or service. Even got a complimentary glass of prosecco for Mother's Day.

Sunday lunch with my wife we had a great meal. The staff were very friendly and polite. The roast was perfect just the way we like it, more than sufficient quantity. Great we will return.

Went on Saturday night, a day after the new owners reopened the restaurant. Food was excellent as was the service. Had a guy come to the table to recommend wines that went with our meals which was a nice touch. I had the half lobster and prawn platter which was fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Great country pub with 8 real ales and very friendly staff and customers the bar is on the little side but with a real old fashioned fire and dog friendly. Although I have not tried the food I have only heard good things about it. Have now tried the food and I have no complaints.

The food was excellent and the pint of cumberland was lush. The locals and the staff were really friendly as too was the raging log burning fire..that was very welcoming. 10/10

One of a dying breed of pubs that actually serves the locals yet offers a warm welcome to those just stopping by. Lovely cosy bar and a great range of real ales (worth a visit during one of their beer festivals). When in Lumley we're always sure to call by.

Great pub food and good choice of drinks. Nice decor Not too easy to find as it's a bit out of the way though. Would definitely recommend booking as it's not a big place.

Very busy East Boldon road House pub continually reinventing itself and all the better for it. I love drinking the punk IPA I just don't like paying for it somebody should slap them.
