My husband and I stayed here for our son's graduation from Durham. We paid £92 for two nights which was excellent value for money. It was about 8 miles out of Durham and took about 16 minutes to drive there. The room was spacious as was the bathroom and overall fairly clean. The staff were friendly and polite. The shower was fabulous and lovely fluffy towels provided. The only slight gripe is there is no-one on reception so you have to go into the restaurant to track anyone down so I would advise leaving your luggage in the car until you have your room keys. There was also only two teabags to use in the room and two coffee sachets so I did think a few more of these should have been left. The housekeeper gave us more the next day when we asked so no real issue. Would definitely stay here again and recommend

Came for lunch with my 3 year old son. Food was delicious and staff so kind and friendly. Very reasonable pricing, much better than going to a chain restaurant that have similar deals but no where near the quality of the Moorings. Fabulous.

The room was immaculately clean. The evening meal in the upstairs restaurant was 5 Star. Live singer downstairs in the bar. Great atmosphere. Made to feel very welcome

Visited for lunch, didn't stay. Service fab, food great mostly, just for us, the lasagne was lacking meat and taste. However, we will revisit.

With a party of 20 you do expected some hiccups with orders of this size. BUT not here, all the food was served almost altogether and came out piping hot. Portions size, taste and quality was not compromised in anyway. I cannot recommend highly enough for a great evening.

Exceptional Service Recently, during a scorching hot day, a few friends and I visited our favorite local pub for a pint and some delicious chips. Caught in the heatwave and the relaxed ambiance, I somehow managed to forget to pay for our order. However, the staff, with their unparalleled professionalism, handled the situation with grace and understanding, instantly assuring us that such minor oversights happen. This episode highlighted their excellent customer service, transforming an awkward moment into a warm-hearted experience. In a nutshell, despite the blistering heat, the pub offered a delightful retreat, boasting excellent food, refreshing pints, and most notably, exceptional staff. This memorable day has further solidified our fondness for this local haunt.

We booked two rooms on a recent visit to Beamish. The rooms were spotless and both large rooms. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced but what sets it out from others is the staff. Every single member of staff was amazing and could not do enough to make our vist top notch. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Our room just needed a few things looking at to make it perfect, curtains hanging nicely, more tea/coffee, no hairdryer. Restaurant meal in the evening was ☆☆☆☆☆ but something was lacking at breakfast- Restaurant not set up for breakfast guests ... maybe just need more staff. Last years leaves and rubbish blowing about outside too Sad

Have stayed here since arriving on 31st of July. Our sons wedding is the reason we came over from Australia. We are due to check out tues 15th August. I have to say our stay so far has been exceptional. We feel right at home here . The staff are so accessible ,yet not at all intrusive. The restaurant and staff are so relaxed as they go about looking after their customers. Rooms are clean and tiudy. Our bathroom amazing . House keepers are excellent, especially Michelle, who would service our room daily, if required. Michelle always greeted us daily with her smile and her banter ( australian for good old chat) We are stll here and will quite likely have more to say about the wonderful place “The Moorings” when we leave……….. ……So here we are back home in Australia. The staff at Moorings continued to be attentive and friendly. We had friends and family attend the Adriana restaurant a couple of times , pre and post the wedding. Our guests were enormously impressed with the service and quality of the food . Dawn was our waitress on these occassions, what a warm and lovely woman she is, and got all orders in perfectly. Our morning breakfasts we had in the 2 weeks we stayed were fabulous. The men who served us during this time were constant in their ability to make us feel welcome, whilst our brekkie was delivered so very quickly. I would book in and stay here again, in a heart beat. Thank you to all that serve here❤️

Spent two weeks here on a visit from Australia. Loved every minute. The staff could not do enough for us. Made a booking for a table for six that grew to 19 at the last minute for a pre-wedding family get-together. The Moorings accommodated our every wish. Can’t fairly fault anything about the place, all things considered.

Under amazing new management offering fantastic value for quality food. Full menu,3 course specials to outstanding Sunday lunch. An absolute must visit if you're local and worth the drive if you're a little further out. There is also a 9 bedroom hotel connected should you wish to stay locally whilst visiting Beamish Museum which is only a couple of miles away. The moorings are also now putting on live music every Friday night in the downstairs bar from 8pm too.

Great atmosphere, staff were really friendly and helpful, lots of smiley faces, which goes a long way in the service industry. Food was excellent and was very nicely presented. We certainly will be returning for further luncheons soon. Thanks to all the staff who made it such a pleasant outing.
