First visit here for a work do. Not particularly busy for a Saturday night, but we were well looked after by the staff here. The food was excellent, generous portion sizes and all 10 if us were served at pretty much the same time despite many different choices from a plentiful menu, and good value for money, approx £25 a head for starter, main, rice and naan. There is currently no Alcohol licence here, but you are welcome to bring your own. Sadly the card machine was out of order when we visited, it may be worth carrying cash. Would eat here again

Food is amazing! Genuinely cannot recommend highly enough, the food is unreal. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful if you have any questions. Food comes out as soon as it's ready so it is very fresh and often sizzling. And it's more than just the standard Indian fare, there are dozens house specialities which are varied and all I've tried have been excellent. There's also a wide selection of fish based food for those who fancy that. Phenomenal food, legitimately the best Indian meal I've ever had was from this restaurant.

Absolutely love this place, you'll find meals that you don't see in a lot of other places, and they're beautiful. Full of flavour and the right spices. The service is second to none, especially from the owner who makes a point of going around to every table. They don't serve alcohol but you can take your own in, which I think is a plus, especially if you want to keep the cost of the meal down. Best curry I've had.

Excellent meal tonight at Cookson, service and food were top rate, easily up there with the best Indians in the north east region - the bring your own alcohol is great, this saved a lot of money and meant we could take our favourite wine. All the dishes we had tonight were high quality and well cooked. Will be visiting again!

I always go to this place when I'm away near Durham and it's my absolute favourite Indian restaurant. The food choice and quality is really excellent. No card payments and no alcohol served (you can take your own).

Went tonight for our belated anniversary. The food was outstanding, the screens to protect people look like they should be there. The poor lads running round like headless chickens with people wanting food takeaways and deliveries 🏃🏃😂 def recommend going. Well done lads

For me one of the best Indian's in the area! They have an extensive menu which will cater to most tastes / heat settings, plus they will sort out non-indian dishes for those with more delicate tastes ;). Staff are really friendly and will do what they can to help, we even got a lift home one time when there were no taxis available!! They no longer have an alcohol license but no charge to bring your own, glasses etc provided. You'd have to go a long way and probably pay a lot more to get a better service!!

My wife & I have eaten here on many occasions now and have never been disappointed. The menu is fantastic and has a lot of different dishes to other Indian restaurants we have visited. Very friendly staff and always a great atmosphere in the restaurant

Amazing. I ordered some tandoori chicken and it tasted out of this world. The spice and Flavour really hits and it's also cheap! 10/10 would come again. I really recommend it.

Butter chicken from here is gorgeous, staff always make you feel welcome, great service upon arrival and when seated. Highly recommend to people thinking about going here! Only downfall is that they don’t deliver!

Ok. Let me start by saying the food, overall was great. I especially looked my Punjabi palak chicken Tikka (I think I remembered it's name correctly, visit was 2weeks ago while on vacation) - never had anything like it before. The onion bhaji were also excellent and the rest of my group enjoyed there various other curry although my wife said her Pathia was a little too sweet and not enough chilli. We went on Saturday and while quiet when arrived the restaurant filled up quickly to be lively but not too loud. It became apparent that the staff were struggling, at least two men short. The owner(?) Son who was maybe 11 was serving drinks to tables and managed to dump full pints on multiple tables before he was taken off service and given other jobs. Somehow all the affected guests remained dry and we're all cool about as clearly the youngster was trying his best. The staff cleaned up and made apologies - you'll have to ask them if drinks were free ;) Throughout this chaotic night the staff remained pleasant and helpful. If I was ever in the area I'd go back and hope to give them 5 stars to see them at their best. Paying up we asked the senior guy around what was the deal and he confessed to having one staff call in sick and another hand in his notice and not come back from previous shift , so well done to the three of them (plus kitchen) keeping a full restaurant happy

Top quality local Indian restaurant. They will also let you ring up an order for pickup. This place is definitely on my top 5 of best Indian restaurants in the North East. There's a comfy table and sofa in reception so you can read some magazines while you're waiting for your food to be cooked. Try the beef madrass with onion rice.

The location of this restaurant can make it a little hard to find, almost in a residential street however the food here is excellent. I hail from South Shields which is a wash with many excellent Indian restaurants but I have still travelled twice to visit this place with friends. Really good food and friendly staff.
