Been here a couple of times and always super impressed. My partner loves the roast and the burger and wings are spot on. Friendly service always with a sense of humour makes the food and atmosphere a great combo
We had a fantastic family meal and the whole team looked after us. We had a lot of comped requirements - a disabled wheelchair user, a high chair and 11 of us! They have a simple pre-order system which kept me updated on what people had ordered and the food was awesome! Really recommend this place, all my family was impressed! Tom was a star coming back to me with email confirmations and everything was perfect for us when we arrived. If in doubt, book it!!!!
We have been to the Tavern about 4 or 5 times over the past 3 years. The food is very good and the service is always good.
Today we went just for a drink and it's a very welcoming place. The staff are very chatty.
Worth trying for anyone who hasn't been before
I went at the weekend for lunch. We both has the steak tartare for starter. Then I had the massive rack of ribs for main and my girlfriend had the lamb shank. We finished it off with a slice of cheese cake between us. Very good service and the food was very nice. We also had a nice bottle of Malbec and they serve Deya there which is a great pint.

I've now been to the Tavern about 10 times and it's great. I love that they use local beers.
They have recently changed their menu to have a large amount of small plates but still with the option for main meals.

We took our 8 month old baby with us recently and they were more than welcoming.
Still a great place for food and drink! Tavern burger (without cheese) was absolutely first class and the perfectly cooked pink meat was juicy. Good selection of lager and always nice to be recognised by the staff. As with a lot of restaurants its such a shame they have to put calories on the menu. Looking forward to coming again for Saturday lunch :)
Amazing. Called in because we were looking for craft beer and a snack. Ended up having an amazing meal. Butternut squash and goat's cheese risotto was so delicious. Loved the pine nuts. My husband said the Korean wings were the best he had ever had and the chilli cheese fries were good too. Oh!! and the beer was excellent!! Great service. Good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!!!
Love this place! Service was amazing and our waitress really looked after us. The food was really good, we tried the roasts, the burgers and the fries - all brilliant.

Whilst the Tavern is a brilliant pub to visit for a great night out, we also love to book brekkies and lunches here too for scrumptious food. A lovely place to meet friends for a weekend brekkie - pancakes especially are our kids favourite - but all the food is delicious. The lunches are also fantastic and we couldn't fault the meal or the service we had recently. If in a big party, its lovely to book upstairs if you can as it gives you your own private space. This was our first visit to The Tavern since it changed ownership From The Lucky Onion group to Youngs. We had some misgivings because of some other recent reviews about the poor service. Our experience was very positive. Both Anna and Felix who served our table were very friendly, professional and attentive. Top marks!
The food was also very good. I had the belly pork as a main which was outstanding. The crackling was perfect. Nice and crunchy without risking an unexpected trip to the dentist!
It was during the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and a live band played in the bar area later in the evening. An unexpected bonus!
My only grumble is the drinks were a bit pricey and a 12.5% service charge was automatically added to our bill. I thought was a bit on the high side given that drinks were a significant part of our overall bill.
We will definitely return to The Tavern in future.
Jay and his team looked after us wonderfully. We hired the room upstairs for a meeting and had lunch before and drinks after. Exactly what we were after. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with great food. Thanks for all your help!
One of my favourite restaurant, The Tavern is known for its interesting and mouth watering range of foods; from burgers to chicken wings of various sorts to charred-grilled steaks and finger licking sides, and also, I must mention the amazing puddings from which the sticky toffee ice cream sandwich is my go to! We have been dining there on multiple occasions and each time we was fully satisfied. The food is always fresh and very well presented. I guess, they must have the best chefs in town 😉

Tbh we went here because we had a meal credit from the George Hotel . But wow . Great food, big portion sizes, friendly staff. I could eat here every day, but I would be the size of a house. A very happy house
