A wonderful day for my first visit to the Aviator. Working in the aviation industry has given me a different appreciation for aircraft than I did before. So being right opposite Gloucester Airport and having a great beer garden made it a good spot for watching various aircraft come and go. The weather was hot and sunny, so sat right at the bottom of the beer garden with a pint of Thatchers Haze, a bag of Pipers Longhorn Beef crisps and a slice of chocolate Swiss roll. This isn’t a Michelin star restaurant so I will forgive the establishment for the stale cake as the guy behind the bar made up for it. Very welcoming, funny and full of banter, just what you want in a place such as this. It’s totally old school, no bells and whistles which makes it comfortable. The place is full of aviation memorabilia as you would expect and very busy. I’m looking forward to returning and enjoying another pint (or two) but this time maybe a Weston’s Vintage Gold cider as the bartender recommended. Brilliant little place and certainly a hidden gem. They do normal pub food as well as breakfasts and plenty of parking
Great Pub and Restaurant. Place was packed as an 80th Birthday party was on when we turned up but fortunately we booked on the day not realising that we were lucky to get in at all. Ideally try to book before you turn up. Will definitely go again and make a be line for this place next time we are in the area. Staff are friendly, food was spot on and hot and the turn around of people was outstanding. Keep up the great work Aviator.
Great place for plane buffs. The wife and I sat out in the sunshine eating lunch and watched the workings of a provincial airport. Inside the bar area you will find the walls covered with interesting aircraft photos and prints. Stacked in the ceiling rafters are old flying model aircraft. Really interesting place with reasonable food and drink prices. Can park your car directly outside at no charge with step free access to the front entrance. Gets very busy at the weekend. Worth the visit.
I have always been a fan of aircraft and have an affinity with airfields. So I was very pleased to discover that Gloucester Airport has this wonderful facility. If you like planes and are looking for somewhere to spend a while for food and a drink, this place is spot on. The food was well prepared and very tasty, one of the best vegetarian burgers I've ever had and the guy behind the bar was very friendly. It's worth a visit.
Really cool place if you're into watching planes and helicopters take off and land. The atmosphere inside is fine, staff are cool, food is very overpriced but the novelty of being next to a private airport is worth it.
Sunday lunch is Sunday lunch there aren't any other choices but they do it well. I wish more aviation restaurants did this, do something simple and keep to it.
Lovely welcome from James as we walked through the door, he found us a table even though it was packed and even noticed when we were waiting to pay and came over. Good straight nice service made the meal thank you
Absolutely fantastic service and food! Stuffed to the brim. Lovely meals and plenty of it. Soup to start was really tasty and the cottage pie with lots if veg was lovely. Definitely be back.
Came for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint at all! There was a large group of us and everyones meal came out quickly and hot! Loads of veg and decent portion size! Our dessert was lovely too! Staff were so friendly and accommodating. 100% would recommend and will definitely be coming back! Parking and kid friendly 👍🏼
Lovely place Only had drinks but tge food coming out looked great
Nice aviation themed airport-side, no frills pub. I don't mean that in a bad way - its a nice simple, not pretentious pub.
The food is great, as you'd expect and hope, the staff are nice and the view of the airport is excellent, if plane spotting is your thing!
