A delicious meal in a lovely restaurant. Small but perfectly formed. The food is exceptional and the staff very attentive. Thank you for my birthday petit fours plate too.
A wonderful dining experience for a Saturday lunchtime. Excellent menu and wine list. Knowledgable staff explaining each dish as it was served. We will return!
Lovely, small and friendly restaurant in the centre of Cheltenham. The quality of the food is superb. We had the tasting menu and were not disappointed with any of the courses. Some really interesting tastes and textures as well as being very well presented.
We have eaten at Purslane many times in the last few months. Every meal has delivered outstanding raw materials brilliantly cooked, the service is knowledgeable, yet warm and friendly, and the wines are excellent, offering interest with good value.
Purslane has become our regular restaurant for a good reason: it is the best place to enjoy a superb meal in Gloucestershire.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff! We had a great evening celebrating my husbands birthday! Thank you
We had lunch here yesterday and it was truly delicious. Service was faultless, I would definitely like to return in an evening for the tasting menu. Thank you
Absolutely amazing, great atmosphere and service and the best pudding I've ever eaten!
The food was top class. Service top class wonderful dining experience
Amazing tasting menu and enjoying every minute of it!!!
Fresh, delicious food. The oysters were a highlight
Lovely food, great ambiance and great service!
Wonderful working lunch here today. What a treat and quick enough to get back to work right on time. Will be back
Just had the most amazing meal, fabulous service, would definitely recommend it x
We came here for our wedding anniversary celebration, absolutely love the tasting menu. Seafood ingredients were fresh. It was a lovely little cozy restaurant and the presentation of food was good. I highly recommend this place!
Lovely little restaurant, really enjoyable experience. Really well presented food in a relaxed but smart environment. Some really tasty 'snacks from the kitchen' prior to the main event. Minor criticism there could have been a bit more fish in the mains and the flavour could have been a bit more intense.
Oh wow. How this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star yet I have no idea. Super friendly and attentive staff, some of the best seafood dishes we've ever had. Very generous portions - after a 7 course tasting menu we were absolutely stuffed and very pleasantly tipsy.
And for a very reasonable price given the quality! Definitely worth a visit.
5 star all the way. The food was magical, service- perfect.. couldn't fault it.
A really enjoyable and memorable experience. Highly recommended.
One of the best meals I've ever had! Every course was just perfect, with little surprises and great attention to detail, needless to say cooking was impeccable. Amazing from the home made breads with taramasalata and seaweed butter through to the peanut butter parfait that I could have again and again - the pairing with banana and lime sauce was just inspired!
Definitely one to return to for another seasonal feast, thank you for the delicious meal!
Enjoyed a wonderful double anniversary meal here with my parents. The food was exceptional. Beautifully cooked and presented. From the bread appetisers to the generous mains everything has layers of quality. A accompaniment of a pot of crab meat with a sweetcorn espuma was the star of the evening but every dish had a well balanced combination of high quality ingredients and technique. We will definitely be returning.
Went for the 7 course tasting with wine pairing - and the food was incredible. They accommodated us with a pescetarian tasting menu - switched the meat course for another fish course, which was much appreciated. The wines paired beautifully and you got to experience a lot from different countries. The ‘snacks’ were basically another course and the breads were fresh and warm. Really reasonable for a tasting menu of such high quality! Would definitely recommend!
After watching Cambridge United drop three points at Cheltenham Town, the stunning high quality food and service at this lovely restaurant made the trip to Cheltenham worth while. I cannot describe how good the food is, congratulations on delivering perfection!
We had a great meal at Purslane. The food was excellent and very inventive. I would highly recommend the scallops which were fantastic!
The restaurant has been set up with very smart screens between tables to allow diners to feel safe but maintain a decent amount of tables. We were very impressed by how the staff adapted to the new environment and all the precautions they took!
Amazing food, lovely staff! We went for a 7 course tasting with the wine pairing. First experience of fine dining and was so impressed!
absolutely Awesome...and perfect food. We had the 5 Course Tasting Menu and it was perfect. The Lamb, the Scallop and or ( even if i normally absolutely don't like it) the Beetroot and just a perfect evening with super delicious food...
Truly an exquisite meal from start to finish, to celebrate the end of our honeymoon.
Service was fantastic, with staff skilfully providing background, insight and detail into each of the seven courses we enjoyed. The wine pairings complemented the individual plates to a T.
My personal favourite was the Cornish cod - delightfully autumnal and just warming enough to prelude the next course with a smooth ease into the depth and richness of the beef shin sirloin. We greatly savoured the fresh and light hues in our halibut starter as well. At the close of the meal, the ampersand buttermilk mousse took us on a culinary escape to a bright, sunny meadow.
In regards to the technicality of the meal, portion sizes were perfectly thought-through, and each course was a logical step through the next aromatic, layered experience of the palate. The venue was thoroughly COVID-secure, whilst not comprising the welcoming nature of the service team and comfortable atmosphere.
My partner and I agreed that the seven course offering and associated wine pairings from Purslane comprised the single best meal we've ever had.
(Photos demonstrate just a few of the immaculately-plated courses.)
Absolutely a must try if you live in Cheltenham or visiting, fantastic food cooked perfectly! Purslane uses top notch ingredients and does each one justice, from local cod to turbot seafood here is fresh, stunningly delicious and combined with interesting pairings. Set in a tiny little shop, Purslane punches above its weight and is a world class restaurant.
Amazing birthday meal and the team made an above and beyond effort to support my dietary needs. Should’ve given this review a while ago, but better late than never. Will 100% be back.
I've been to Purslane about 4 or 5 times and it's always good. One thing I always love is the different butters they give with the bread. Just a simple thing but it's always nice.
We always go for the tasting menu. Cannot complain at all with the food or service.
Went again recently with the covid restrictions in place. There were screens between the tables but the service and atmosphere was still the same.
The only thing I would change is that they are always closed on a Sunday, and that's the main day we tend to go out for lunch. So we would go more often if they were opne then.
Great local restaurant which always use locally sourced foods.
So having walk past the restaurant several timas. I finally made a booking. We arrived to a great welcome our coats where taken and where shown our table.
We both went with the tasting menu and I had the accompanying wine paired with each dish. The menu was explained and a copy left on the table should we want to check back.
The bread and spreads came first and a great start. Followed by a play on fish and chips and so on. This is a tasting menu and does change so have a look on their website to see what they have on offer.
I will leave some pictures so all the courses can be seen. The only point I would say that was not 100% in my mind was that the scallop could have been cooked better and the beef should have rested as to not leave all the blood on the plate.
Apart from the slight mistakes I'd say it was simply sublime. The wines where well thought out and the staff of the top shelf knowingly explaing all aspects and providing a great service.
A definite must if you like good food and great service.
Superb!! Absolutely recommend this place, one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Went there because of the good reviews, well it was even better. Totally amazing, we had the tasting menu that ended up being 11 courses, from the bread to the coffee at the end just perfect, they change the menu every two months I heard so looking forward to go back again.
Absolutely beautiful food, cooked to perfection! The scallops melted in your mouth and the attention to detail was flawless. Will definitely return soon for the best seafood I've eaten in the UK!
Michelin Star quality seafood
I can’t rate this place highly enough for their exceptional food! Delicious fresh oysters to start! I had the monkfish with pasta as a starter and it was probably one of the best dishes I have had this year - gorgeous flaky and flavorful fish with an interesting sauce. Turbot with samphire for a main was a great choice as well. Nice wine list as well. Service was tiny bit on the slow side but when the food tastes this great, it doesn’t really matter :)
