We just had the most amazing fine dining experience, it's much more than just a meal. We had the 7 course Christmas tasting menu because we couldn't decide what to have from the menu. As each course (beautifully presented) came to the table it was accompanied by a run through of the delights on our plates. Each course was a treat for the senses being well balanced with interesting combinations bringing vibrant and fresh flavours which are a million miles from your run of the mill Indian restaurant. We have been meaning to come to this place for months now, it was worth the wait. If you appreciate excellent service, food and drink all accompanied by a modicum of theatre then this is the place for you. You will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed the tasting menu - what a fabulous experience. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. There were so many new experiences from the deconstructed samosa with melon, tempura courgette and raita to the sea bass pickle with lemon and mango sorbet. The sharing punch drink was fab! Can't recommend this restaurant enough, helpful friendly staff too. Thanks for an amazing night!

A wonderful meal today - the 7 course Christmas tasting menu, each course beautifully presented and served with an explanation of the ingredients. Each dish was a work of art visually and each a fabulous gustatory experience, with variety and balance. Flavours in turn complemented each other and surprised the palate. Their delicacy and subtlety were a delight. The service is graciously attentive but never intrusive; there is the luxury of time -between the well-paced arrival of dishes - for conversation and digestion! The food is so exquisite, you really want to take your time to enjoy and savour each dish. Superb!

Great experience; we had the taster menu and there was lots of ooohs and aaaahs from the start - fantastic staff, food was delicious and fantastically presented, I would highly recommend it. The cocktails are pretty good too; an excellent night.

I booked a table for my husband and I for dinner here because the trip advisor reviews were very good and it was close to The Town Hall where i was taking him to see Danny Baker live (It was a surprise birthday evening for him). From the moment we entered the restaurant to the time that we left, we were made to feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious. It’s rare these days to go out to eat and not be disappointed but we were truly amazed. The staff were so attentive and the lady who served us was quite obviously very passionate about the food she was serving. We did not expect the experience we got! This is not the usual run of the mill Indian Restaurant - more like fine dining - but no skimpy portions here! We ordered a starter and a main meal each. I had prawns and my husband had catch of the day, which was monk fish, followed by a beef dish for me and Railway Lamb for my husband. Superb! Before the food came we were offered a complimentary drink with sherbet and mint which was extremely refreshing, with a couple of taster dishes of food (wish I could remember exactly what they were as they were scrumptious!). Each dish served was explained to us so we knew exactly what we were eating. The main meal came with several accompaniments and was a taste sensation. I so wish I had allowed more time here because we rushed somewhat towards the end as we needed to be at The Town Hall for 7.30 (our table was 6pm) - which we did inform the lovely lady who took our order. We will definitely be returning for the taster menu and will not be rushing off next time. Can not recommend this place enough. This is what eating out is all about - well done East India Cafe, and thank you so much for making our evening special

Wonderful setting, such a lovely restaurant. Great service- everything explained and attentive staff but not in your face. Food was sublime and so reasonably priced. This is not a curry and pint restaurant. This is a whole new dining experience. We shall return!

Lovely atmosphere - small and cosy with warm, low lighting. Expect to spend more but for an overall higher quality experience. The food is very impressive and tasty. Both the texture and taste was extremely good for all dishes I tried. There were fewer options than a typical Indian restaurant but everything I tasted was delicious. Small extras were provided between our courses which was a nice bonus. The staff were very attentive (and very polite) and it was very easy to get attention whenever we wanted. Very pleasant evening! Current parking restrictions are only up to 6pm so if driving here for dinner then there are lots of on street spaces available all down Montpellier street, for free.

Such an amazing place and a unique experience off the beaten path in Cheltenham. More than just a restaurant.. feels like being welcomed into head chef Mijan's home for an authentic culinary journey. First class food and outstanding service. Highly recommended

Excellent lunch with nice delicate touches. Starting with home made lemon juice, then amuse bouche and delicious curry. If you want more rice or mini nan , just ask for more. We have been twice for lunch, unfairly quiet. Worth a visit.

An excellent evening. God was superb. So tasty and the little extras added to the balance of the menu. Not a cheap option but really good for a special occasion or just a meal that's a bit more special. Has been on my list to visit for quite a while. So pleased we made it. Will definitely return! Michelin quality food and service without the hefty price tag!

Very impressed with both the food and service . Modest number of options, a good sign of fresh cooking and preparation in situ? Best Indian restaurant I have been to, despite unprepossessing entrance and location which looks like just the ground floor entry to a block of flats. Amuse bouche and sorbet ( both complimentary) were nice extra touches. Service attentive but unhurried . Will defintelybe back when next in Cheltenham Was quiet on a Sunday evening so slightly lacked ambience/ atmosphere for that reason only. Decor low key

Believe all the rave reviews, this was comfortably the best Indian food we have ever tasted, and some of the best food of any cuisine. From start to finish the experience was a delight, with exceptional food coupled with friendly and attentive staff. And to top it off, the cost was probably about half what you might pay for similar quality anywhere else Would recommend this to anyone visiting Cheltenham, or frankly passing anywhere even close!!

We had a great time! We had the best service we've ever received at East India Cafe. They were very friendly and attentive, we really appreciated the level of service. We had the tasting menu and thought the lamb and duck dishes were very good. The other dishes were ok, but not quite as exciting.

A first class restaurant with absolutely delicious food and the loveliest of staff! We had the 3 course lunch and it was tasty from start (a perfect bite-size amuse bouche) to finish (coconut rice pudding) with a palate-cleanser between starter and main. Can't wait to go back!

Excellent food at The East India Cafe and excellent value for money. We'll definitely be visiting again in the future. Service was excellent and all the staff were friendly. The owner was even walking around, greeting everyone and asking if things were ok. You can tell they care about their customers
