We went to celebrate a special birthday. It was the tasting menu. These were many morsels of delightful flavour and texture. Each was small, but they kept coming so by the cheese course, I struggled to finish. Every course was sourced and cooked with design and passion. The lady who was clearly boss of the front of house knew each dish and all their wines. We were impressed. Price - not cheap but well worth a return trip. Will have to find more reasons for a special evening out.
Friendly unobtrusive staff, beautiful and comfortable setting. We went for our wedding anniversary and had the taster menu with the wine flight. Exquisite. Lots of food i would normally avoid made beautiful and tasty. An exciting adventure paired perfectly with a selection of wine.
We visited Lumière for the first time on Saturday evening for our wedding anniversary, it was a really nice treat to mark our special occasion. An intimate restaurant, serving superb food in taste & presentation and the service received was excellent. I would definitely recommend Lumière to anyone who enjoys the finer things in life. I can't wait to go back!
Absolutely superb food, every dish looked and tasted like we were on Masterchef. A real hidden gem. Thank you very much for a fantastic evening!!!
Exceptional, tasting menu a must! Perfect pacing and presentation, each dish more exquisite than the last, friendly and comfortable. A great experience. X
Incredible food , cosy and intimate atmosphere . One of my best meals in a long time ...and I eat out a LOT ! !
On par with Adams and Simpsons in Birmingham . Will return without a shadow of doubt ! !
Love this place so much, seats between 20-30, very intimate, attentive and very professional staff. Food is always sublime, excellent quality ingredients put together in a very inventive way, just a taste sensation. Deserves honours and awards galore
Amazing meal last night we both loved the tasting menu! I particually enjoyed the puddings :) a real treat for my partners birthday
Lumiere is genuinely fantastic. An intimate restaurant with outstanding service and the best food you are likely to taste. I consciously slowed down in order to savour the amazing myriad of flavours. It is special. If you are thinking of treating yourself and/or someone you really care about, go ahead, you'll be delighted that you did.
Excellent. Fantastic food and a very friendly service in a romantic and relaxing setting. Would certainly recommend!
Absolutely loved it x from the friendly staff to the amazing dishes x x x a huge thank you xxx
We enjoyed the tasting menu and it was absolutely divine! Helen and John have a winning formula, in presenting a relaxed atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble. Everyone should sample the delights of Lumiere.
Visited today having received a gift card for Christmas. Sampled the lunch menu and every element was faultless! Will definitely be visiting again.
1st Class Food with 1st Class People! It always deliver a fabulous experience!
Foodie Heaven. This place is amazing - I went with my partner (a very difficult to please foodie!) and had the tasting menu. We are fortunate enough to have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the country (2 & 3 stars included) and this little gem is up there with the best!
The meal started with a delicious potato & garlic amouse bouche. Then carried onto amazing hand dived scallops (a proper portion too!) with pork belly. Next came a beef assiette - something I would never have choosen myself but it was fantastic.... and clear that the chef has a wicked sense of humor! Then we had the halibut, with a shellfish cassoulet - my partner loves cassoulet (& makes a mean one himself) but this was truely to die for. Tequila sorbet with a salt biscuit - tasted more like tequila than tequila does! The main course was the softest venision with a raspberry & chocolate sauce (I am now running out of adjectives to describe how good this meal was..!). Then for dessert... White chocolate mousse, strawberry spheres and peppercorn crunchie - mind blowing! Apparently the chef had done a stage at the Fat Duck, well he definately picked up a trick or two! Then the final course a dessert assiette to share - at this point I died and went to heaven - it was incredible... brulee, fondant, parfait, marshmallow - Orgasmic!!
The restaurant itself is calm and relaxing and the waitresses are knowledgeable & friendly. But what about the bill I here you ask... £150 which included a very good bottle wine - and it felt like the best value for money meal we'd had in a very long time!
And my partners opinion - satisfied silence (well until the reminising started... he's been going on about it ever since!)
The diver caught scallops was one of my standout food courses from 2011 and seeing a photo is enough to make me nostalgic. The presentation has changed recently with the addition of salty bacon crumbs and pork scratching. All of the components that made it such a wonderful dish such as the tender sweet scallop, the rich pork belly, the sweet and spicy puree and the crunchy caramel are still there in spades and it was every bit as good as I remembered.
This dish made every table smile with awe. The only popcorn chicken I’ve had before was from KFC, obviously this was nothing like it. It had an ultra fine chicken mince, more like mashy potatos than the stripy chicken texture. Though delicate, it didn’t lose any dis
The conclusion from our previous post on Lumière hasn't changed: Jon, Helen, and their restaurant Lumière represent the bright future of British cooking. They're lovely people who combine hard work with talent and therefore deserve to succeed, and we have no doubt that their success in the years to come will be huge. Visiting Lumière is simply a pleasure every time.
Absolutely exquisite food, Helen and her team are fantastic and really love what they do. All courses are beautifully presented and delicious!
Will definitely be back to try their next menu!
We were so lucky to be able to feast at Lumiere!
From the minute we walked in we were in awe. After a friendly welcome from Helen and her team, we were shown to our table which was tastefully decorated with a white crisp table cloth. From this first impression we knew we were in for a fantastic time!
We chose the 6-course taster menu. Every course had a wow-factor deliciously combining cuisine, theatre and story! We love every dish, each one building on the last, but the most favourite mouthful for me was the velvety duck liver parfait encased in white chocolate and gold glitter. Absolute genius!!!
We really hope to return again to Lumiere.
One of the most perfect evenings you can get.
Helen and Mia and Matthew the sommelier were welcoming, friendly hosts. At this end of the scale, service can edge into cold or pretentious - it absolutely was not and was more like being welcomed into someone's home.
The food was absolutely superb. Each course better than the last, with top notch ingredients, balanced and considered flavour and texture and a good variety, all immaculately presented.
I was particularly impressed with the soft drink version of a wine flight, allowing interesting, paired flavours across courses for non-drinkers. So nice to not have to stick to water!
Fabulous. The service from Helen and Mia was second to none all night. The food was amazing. We chose the 8 course tasting menu, and every single thing tasted wonderful. We really enjoyed the extra info about the restaurant and the dishes we were served on the table. A super nice touch was the soft drink flight for the driver of the party, as well as the lovely English wine.
We went this evening for the tasting menu. The food was amazing, such thought, care and inspiration is clearly demonstrated by their food. The staff are friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The wine pairing perfectly complemented the food. I would highly recommend and look forward to going again.
Possibly the best meal I've ever eaten - I've not done extensive fine dining but it beats the handful of Michelin star places I've been to, hands down.
Staff were genuinely warm and friendly. An amazing experience and well worth the £50 for the four course lunch (which also came with 3 outstanding amuse bouches).
If you like fine dining with the level of service you’d expect this is the place. Wonderfully creative tasty fantastic food. I’m lucky enough to have eaten in several Michelin starred restaurants and this is by far my favourite. I’m lucky as I live nearby but I’d certainly travel to eat here! I didn’t take photos as I feel it’s unnecessary!
Definitely in my top 3 meals of all time! Exquisitely prepared and presented taster menu was a gastronomic delight..see pics!! Beautiful restaurant and such cheerful and knowledgeable service by Helen and Matthew. And extensive, varied wine list, particularly for the desserts. Where is their Michelin star, or 2 ??!!
A brilliant experience. Oh, and I want one of those decanters °
This was a xmas present from our son, a food experience it certainly was and in a great way.
Food was amazing which is the main thing but the staff were fantastic. Knowledge of the food for each course was great and as experience first class.
What an amazing dining experience. The food and the service! We’ve been to most Michelin starred restaurants from 1 star all the way to 3 stars at Gordon Ramseys. Those are hit and miss but this non-Michelin starred restaurant is one of the best I’ve had, everything was exceptional. We’re from London but will definitely be coming back again sometime
