Lovely village pub which serves fantastic food, nice little beer garden. Highly recommend
Took an elderly friend out for lunch, Daisy kindly opened the back gate and helped her into and out of the restaurant before and after our meal. Very polite and kind young lady. Steak was the best we have had will definitely go again soon.
Very good - lovely varied menu and something that's always a good sign - home made chips!! I had the chilli and lime skewered chicken on a bed of salad - just lovely and the setting of this historic pub is truly delightful. Will definitely be back.
Proper Suffolk country pub. 5 ⭐️
Beautiful food in a lovely old English pub.
Stumbled across this place and went for lunch as it was serving, knowing nothing about it beforehand. Totally amazing food. Cannot recommend this place enough, the dishes are seriously delicious, service is excellent, as is the wine list. This place is a total gem
Me and my partner tried the tasting menu and stayed the night. High expectations were set and the food and everyone at the peacock exceeded our expectations. I could even say this offers the best food ive ever had. The room was a new build with the most comfortable bed and lovely an suite with coffee biscuits and a wide range of teas to choose from in the room.
The peacock has a lovely calming atmosphere with polite and knowledgeable staff
There is no dought we will be back thank you to everyone who works here
A fine old pub in the drop-dead-gorgeous Suffolk village of Chelsworth. Sunday lunch here is epic - a warm welcome from a friendly team, an interesting menu & wine list, excellent cooking, well kept beer & good value for money. We've eaten in many pub-restaurants around here - this beats most. Recommended.
Stopped off for a 2 course set lunch. Beautiful location, charming interior and quality food. Reasonable price for food of this high standard. Staff welcoming and attentive. Very pleasant experience.
Absolutely delicious food. Such a treat every time we visit. The best.
A lovely unique Inn. Far beyond our expectations. We stayed in one of the larger outdoor rooms, and it has everything you could possibly need. Beautifully laid out, modern and vibrant but with a traditional feel. No mobile phone service which I thoroughly enjoyed although there is complimentary WiFi should anyone need to stay connected. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic weekend stay. A big thank you to Jack and his amazing staff, they are all a credit to the Peacock. Dog friendly, comfortable bed, spacious shower. Last but not least, the food. The Peacock is very lucky to have a truly amazing chef. The food was high end quality. The best food I have tasted and I travel frequently. Hope to see you all again soon. Keith & Kim
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. A great blend of cosy pub atmosphere accompanied with fine dinning. The service was perfectly attentive, Jack and his team took great care of my family and had good knowledge of everything. The food was simply delicious! 👌🏼
My partner and I had a meal with friends at the Peacock and then stayed overnight at River Cottage which is available to book on their website - what a treat! The meal was first class and we were charmed by the staff, especially Jack who was an absolute delight with his sunny disposition and informed advice on food and wine choices. The cottage was wonderful - spacious, clean and very comfortable. Will certainly be returning in the future.
We had a good quality set lunch with an excellent wine for £5 per glass. The meal was well presented and service was friendly and efficient. Lovely old pub in a beautiful Suffolk village.
One word - Fantastic.
We went for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
The food was superb both in presentation and quality.
There was a really good wine list to choose from offering good value and a wide range of wines.
The staff and service were excellent.
We will definitely be back.
Fantastic service. Brilliant food.
We have been a few times recently. On our most recent visit, we used the private dining area which was ideal for children.
Although our family were challenging with some of their requirements (often frustrating for us!), every request was met with a smile from staff and a good solution.
We’ll definitely be returning again!
Stopped in for a brief drink after a dog walk. Lovely pub, nice decore, good selection of beers, wines and spirits, log fire going and allow dogs in the main bar area. Restaurant looked very nice and the food smelled lovely so will be popping back for a meal soon. Beer garden was very nice too so I'm sure it will be great in the summer! With its fire pit and covered seating area.
Had dinner here last night and I think it was the best meal out that I have ever eaten! The food was so, so good. Jack, Katie and their staff are so welcoming, friendly and professional too. Jack also makes a mean negroni and espresso martini! We cannot wait to come back to try the tasting menu. SUPERB!
This is truly a hidden gem.
Another reviewer described this place as “better than the Unruly Pig” but i would say these two establishments are galaxies apart.
Not only did the food look amazing, it also tastes great. And despite being a small and cosy establishment they do a great job of keeping any noise from the bar away from the dining area, so that you can well enjoy your meal.
Staff are friendly and very efficient (maybe too so, and a little green) but overall the food kept flowing as did the offer of drinks, which is all you can ask for when wanting to be attended to.
As for the plates themselves, no real and obvious flaws, and they all disappeared down “the hatch” without any complaints. Of course things can be tweaked, advanced and improved anywhere, but 3 plates of joy were bestowed upon us each.
All in all, i would recommend The Peacock highly and will definitely be coming back again.
The whole team at The Peacock were so friendly, professional and really cared about making a difference and adding value to the customer experience. Ashleigh was amazing and really took personal responsibility in making sure our stay was a really good one. Courtney served us drinks and again was friendly and chatty and like Ashleigh had that good balance between professional and friendly. The room was very comfortable, warm and cosy and had everything we needed (1night stay). We had dinner in the restaurant which was exceptional - Sam and Elliot work so hard and their passion about fresh food and flavours are beautifully presented on the plates. We appreciated the extra touches too of home made sour dough and malt bread and the delectable desserts. Thank you. Breakfast was so yummy - again fresh and lovely special touches - I loved the Peacock branded paper that the croissants sat on, and the individually wrapped Netherend Farm butter. The coffee was excellent and for me a deal breaker in rating a place! :) Excellent stay and I really hope you continue during this tough economic climate...maybe hold back on the branded paper the croissants sit on and small jars of jam and bespoke butter but keep up the fantastic team spirit and communication you guys all have. Good luck and best wishes to all of you.
Absolutely stunning! Cute little pub with amazing food and wonderful service. I had a Scotch egg to start followed by duck breast. Both were superb. It was a treat due to our large booking to have the private dining room. So cosy, we even had a go at the piano after dinner 😁
Best pub in Suffolk. We love coming in if it’s for a wine by the fire or for a top tier meal in the restaurant. We like being able to bring our dogs and they love the treats that are on tap too! Everything you could want for from the best front of house, good wine list and even better food.
