What a gem! Came for lunch on a Friday and was thoroughly impressed!
We hadn't booked, which I would recommend doing as it was busy, we just got lucky.
The food was EXCELLENT. Honestly, the chicken kimchi waffle was so tasty. Was a bit of a wild card option, but I was not disappointed!
There is a cocktail bar upstairs, which I imagine, in the evening, is great.
Our meal here is one of my top 10 restaurant meals.
Food was absolutely delicious.
It’s all small plates to share. Had crispy chicken which was fantastic and an interesting marmite butter on focaccia.
Highly recommend this place for food.
Only thing is that it is a little expensive so would be a once every few months treat or less frequent
Popped in for breakfast, after a run luckily for me it was mid week and Thursday as it is quite and I was able to walk in (booking advisable for the weekend) Was made to feel welcome, comfortable and with a sense of humour. I had Eggs Benedict with bacon, (I confirm my one week cancellation vegetarians unite) If you’re going to break any rules then at least do it with a degree of style and flair.
It delivered, a great meal and great atmosphere in a sympathetically refurbishment of a lovely building in the heart of Chelmsford.
I see only one issue for the Team, continuity in keeping the high standards. I guess it’s a good problem to have.
My partner found out about Fête on Facebook, and I'm so glad we had our first brunch in Chelmsford here!
The decor is so modern and light, the service is great...but the food...The food is delicious!
I had the breakfast muffin that comes with Sausage patty, streaky bacon, aged Cheddar, egg, and honey siracha.
If you're out and about in Chelmsford, pop by Fête! You won't regret it!
My daughter is local and recommended Fete at Grays Brewery Yard and so we travelled 70 miles to see what all the fuss is about. First of all I would recommend making a reservation as (I know it was the weekend) but it was exceptionally busy and lots of people speculatively arriving were being turned away. The dress code is defiantly relaxed (think jumper and jeans) and the atmosphere is buzzy and busy. The team that work there are all really friendly and warm. The food menu is comprehensive and all six of us went for something different. The highlight for me was the short rib Eggs Benedict which was divine, as a desert the French Toast with Nutella was massive but also delicious, personally I’d share it between two if not having as a main course and desert as we did, the milkshakes were also amazing (but the paper straws are rubbish!). The prices are all very reasonable given the quality and service. So was it worth the 70 mile journey? YES, and we’ll be back soon!
Went here in July, great food, nice surroundings, but the crown was the service, Joseph, Laura and others made me feel welcome, appreciated and funny which is always nice and the toilets made me smile (you will have to go to find out why)
Why would you go anywhere else ? If you are nearby and surrounded by chain restaurants churning out generic food you should try here ! Brilliant service, open kitchen (so you can see everything being prepared ) and quality food !
Our favourite spot in Chelmsford for Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner!
I love the small plates, 4 is plenty for 2 people. The Rapeseed Focaccia was so so yummy. My favourite was the Bavette, well rested and the dressing made it even better. Loved the cocktails. Loved our Waiter Arianna so patient with us. Loved the atmosphere. Great restaurant.

Great food, great service - what more could you want. The small plates are amazing in the evening and lots of veggie options. We were told to have 3-5 dishes between two of us and this worked out really well.
Visited Fete for dinner recently and had a really lovely evening, the food was amazing and the service was brilliant. My mum has severe allergies and Fete really helped us find suitable meals on the menu - my mum commented that she hadn’t eaten such nice food out at a restaurant in years! So thank you Fete!
