Lovely mock Victorian look about the shop interior itself very inviting . The pies and mash on offer with liquor was very tasty along with a quality cup of tea . I will certainly go back I just hope the shop gets enough custom because it deserves to succeed but isn’t in the main drag in Chelmsford . The food is better than it’s also well known competitor which benefits the high street location
Proper East London traditional pie and mash. Excellent portions. Proper liquor too and everything was well made with care and tasted very fresh. Ordered for delivery with work colleagues and will be sure to eat in soon. Well worth it. Good prices too.
Wow what a pie mash shop, been trying to go here every week now, as it tastes so good and it's strange why it's always empty, one of the best out there for sure, crispy crust and a completely filled inside with loads of gravy inside the pies also, I gave 4 stars because last time I went the mash was completely full of lumps which wasn't edible unless you like that kind of thing haha
Went in for a take away, due to covid couldn't sit in, but can't wait to! The décor is traditional with a new twist, staff were welcoming and service was great. Having been bought up on pie and mash, I knew Cooke's wasn't going to disappoint. Portions were massive of great quality products and tasty liquor. So glad one has opened up close so I can get my pie and mash fix often!

1st time here .have been eating pie and mash all my life .saw this one today so thought we would give it a go. It was perfect . So much meat in the pie . Will definitely be going back. Give it a go you won't be disappointed. Forgot to say how happy and friendly the staff are .

Service was second to none and even had lots of time to talk to me about the history of F Cooke's, they have been making top pie and mash since the 1800s! Incredible!
Superb and traditional Pie Mash worth every penny. Spot on. Generous and very friendly staff all round welcoming place for a meal.maybe they would introduce mushy peas on top optional extra..but happy experience.

Excellent Pies, great mashed potato and liquor. I have visited at least twice a week since they opened (they just celebrated their 1 year anniversary) and Jordan, Charlotte and the rest are most welcoming nice folk.
Loved being able to eat in this upmarket traditional pie and mash shop. Fantastic service and even better products. Can't wait to get there again soon!

The only downside is the ‘cash only’ which is a pity as I constantly find myself walking by only with my phone with Apple Pay so have to pass it by.
Both of us have east end parents with high standers when it comes to pie and mash and wow does this deliver.. this was by far the nicest pie and mash we have had in a long long time! We also got the fruit pie and custard and it was delicious, was still warm even after having it delivered and eating our main meal! We was so excited when we heard F cooke was coming to chelmsford and we will be using them more often, can not wait to come into the shop itself to eat! 2 very happy customers!
