Had a lovely coffee date today - the upstairs ambience and aesthetic was so Parisian, I adored it. The wait times are obscene however I can understand because it's so much more popular than your average Costa/Starbucks. The prices are slightly cheaper and the quality of the cakes is miles better! The blueberry muffin - gorgeous. Almond croissant - 👏However, I did feel a bit cheated when I received my tiny "medium" iced flat white - I guess I will be sizing up to a large next time I go, because Cafe Nero will be a staple for in town coffee dates.
Nice coffee at usual coffeeshop prices. Collect nine stamps on card for a free one. Fairly comfortable venue if a bit small. However the service is extremely slow with staff seemingly unable to cope with a queue of half a dozen people in a timely manner.
Yesterday had a large hot chocolate with oat milk and my daughter a chai latte. Both great. Nero’s hot chocolate in my opinion is far superior to Costa or Starbucks. Not too sweet and not artificial cocoa. Staff friendly and a lovely building. Other reviews say it could do with refurbishing and yes maybe it could but it’s got some charm and cozy and seats comfortable. And we chatted to a lovely 84 yr old gentleman who is clearly a Nero fan and regular there.

A very relaxed cosy coffee shop in an historical building on the high street which retains many authentic features.
My wife and I are on a mission to find cozy coffee shops. This fills the criteria. The coffee and pastries are lovely(they are a chain after all), the staff are polite and get your oder correct after the first time of asking but the atmosphere and little view from the top floor seating are what makes this place cozy. Lovely decor and furniture. Take a seat upstairs at the window if you can. We shall be back around Xmas time when it's dark and very cold outside when I am sure it will fill even more cozy.
Just wanted to say that I thought we had excellent service in Café Nero, Chelmsford this morning. Even at a busy time, the coffee was made to perfection, in good time and served at the perfect temperature. Compared to other high st coffee chains they just seem to get it right here. Hats off to the Baristas

Lovely service, ordered and waited for our drinks at the counter downstairs. There is an upstairs seating area. Very cosy space and lovely area to catch up with friends over a coffee.
The hot chocolate is delicious and rich. Can also recommend their mocha. My favourite coffee chain by far.
Nice store serving a wide range of hand crafted hot & cold beverages as well as Panini's, sandwiches plus cakes & biscuits, i had a large cappuchino with an extra shot that was well made and hot.
Efficient staff. Good please to enjoy warm and enjoy my cappuccino. It was difficult to find it because the brand name outsde is small, but with google maps, I finally managed to find it after going around the all block.
New choices of cakes, finally! Had the roulade which was nice, can't wait to sample the rest ie the chounut or was it croisnut je ne sais pas.
Really tasty frappe creme with espresso and caramel.
