We had a fantastic Valentines break here. The room was super clean, bright and spacious. The food was superb, really delicious and with beautiful presentation. Great breakfast and tasty Sunday roast. Will definately stay again and have since returned for Sunday roast. This is an absolute gem by the river, with lovely walks along the sea wall.
Recently revisited this pub (deleted my old review as it isn't relevant anymore) - it's been recently refurbished and what a difference! Lovely contemporary open beamed restaurant. Excellent food (with lots of veggie + vegan options). Great beer, and lots of outside seating for the summer.
Lovely place. Staff very accommodating as we added a couple more family members to pur table at the last minute, so very genuine and helpful. Lovely gardens, food very tasty and big portions. Had scotch egg for starters and was very tasty with smoked salmon. Fish and chips for main and chips were home made I think and couldn't eat them all as there were so many. Other family members had roast beef and the Yorkshire puddings were massive! Looked lovely. Staff didn't rush us to get up and leave, made us feel welcome. Can't wait to go again. I'm not local so might not be for a while, but definitely hope to.
A lovely pub/restaurant with friendly staff in an ideal setting close to the River Crouch.
The menu was varied and the food was excellent at a very reasonable price.
There is adequate parking and a nice garden area.
After your meal you can always go for a nice stroll down to the River.
Would highly recommend.
Stopped for lunch on a sunny Bank Holiday. We sat in the garden which was really peaceful. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. We haven't been here for a few years but will definitely return.
We were on a weekend cycling trip and stayed at the Ferry Boat Inn on the Saturday night. Our room was super clean and modern with a fantastic shower and very comfy bed. We had dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed a brilliant meal - the food was lovely and service excellent. What really made it though was the warm welcome we received and the friendliness of all the staff - thank you!!!
Visited with hubby & dog for a lunch. Staff are very hospitable & really dog friendly, could actually eat inside the pub. On entering our young dog was given a gravy bone even before we were served with our drinks. In the secure garden there is plenty of water bowls & as the garden was empty he had a run off lead to use up some energy as he had been in the car for quite a while.
Our meal, mine ham off the bone, double egg & chips, hubby's steak & stilton pies with mash & veg were both hot & very nice. The chips were especially tasty, seasoned & cooked in their skins.
As it was late afternoon & were out longer than intended we didn't have anything for our dog so asked if they could cook him a poached egg which he loves. They were very obliging & did so he had egg, broccoli & carrot.
All in all a very successful first. Visit & will definitely come again.
