Ordered a takeaway, had this before and was great, No Amazing! However unfortunately they didn’t have a couple of things we wanted and totally get that, it takes hours to smoke. But we spent £50 and when we got home the portions was tiny and some mixed up, the chicken was just average, and the sweet corn had no seasoning, sides also small. Just didn’t seem to have value for money and the wow factor this time! Was great last time but just let slipped so disappointing, I’m sure they will up their game that’s what reviews are for. I’m leaving 5 star as I don’t believe the ratings is fair on a business.

The food here is amazing. Absolutely filling and delicious. Price is reflective of quality and I’ve not had a bad pint in there either. If you’re a fan of smokehouse food then you must give it a try!

Great independent pub serving a range of American style smoked BBQ cuisine. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff. Large food portions. Definitely recommend a visit for food with family of friends, whether it’s during the week or at the weekend. I’ve visited several times. I recommend anything from the smoker menu. (Pictured is the Brisket of Beef) The loaded fries are almost a meal in itself! The pie option if it is on the menu is a great Sunday afternoon choice too. (Seems at the time of this visit there’s a slight change in the menu since covid lockdown, but if you’re lucky it might be back)

Our local so we could be considered biased. Used to pop in though before we were locals and loved the atmosphere and food. Since changing to the smokehouse it's got even better and the Christmas special of smoked turkey baguettes are the best Christmas Sandwich I've ever had.

Very nice local pub. No beers that I particularly liked so had a cider which they had an interesting selection of. I only went for a drink there with family and friends so can't comment on food. Very quick efficient and friendly service by the bar staff.

Previous landlord has left and it appears pub has returned to 'normal' opening hours rather than shutting between 2-4, not open Mondays etc etc. Seems promising, nice and friendly

The food here is AMAZING! Can not tell you enough just how mouth watering it is without causing you to drool all over your screen. The ribs are so tender, the brisket to die for, the wings are perfection. Choice of sides is great too, my favourite being their own slaw. Great for family dining or meal out with friends. Takeaway is also available, and I can tell you arrives just as good as if you were in the restaurant itself. All for a very reasonable price too.

Lovely food and great variety. Really liked all the smoked and slow cooked meats, tried their own lager as well which was also great

This place is such a gem, we've had delivery from there before which has always been amazing so as a treat we came here to eat in! We had so much food we had to take some (half) home in a doggy bag 😂 Rivals some of the big dogs like the big easy in London. Only way to improve would be to have cocktails as an option! (Frozen slush ones?!) And maybe a few more craft beers and then we would be in heaven. Still it's 10/10 Recommend the brisket, burnt ends, rib tips and pulled pork.

Outside parking for only 2 cars but there is a car park a short walk away. Although a pub, the food is restaurant quality. The short rib is very, very good. Burger was a little dry, but still tasty. Great atmosphere, music just right so you don't have to shout to be heard. Pleasant and helpful staff. Definitely recommend a visit.🥂

Went into the beer garden for my first drink since lockdown ceased, the staff were brilliant and helpful. Drinks delivered to the table very quickly and staff were lovely and polite when doing so. Thoroughly looking forward to being able to visit inside once the restrictions lower.

Hidden gem in Chelmsford. I know this pub used to be a little rough around the edges but I was so impressed. Often when places say they do “barbecue” it’s a frozen burger with some store bought bbq sauce. But this isn’t the case with oddfellows arms. They have gone out of there way to smoke meats properly and deliver amazing results. Great selection, real star of the show was the brisket, melt in your mouth. Also recommend the pulled pork, you can tell it’s been cooked slow and low and isn’t your standard microwave packet most pubs use. The sides were great too, flavourful beans, top class Mac and cheese, cornbread had great flavour, if a little dry. Staff all lovely and great service. Easy to use app for ordering, simply scan, order and pay. Then everything arrives quickly and perfect. I do not have a single complaint about this place, was really impressed, will be recommending to all my friends and will definitely be back soon. Also pour a bloody good Guinness.
