Food was lovely (I had the pork schnitzel) however menu items are bit pricey. For somewhere that charges £20 per main and £6 per side dish I would expect more than satchets of ketchup and mayonnaise. I would at least expect a generous serving in a condiment ramekin. Beers are London prices, the fact you have to order at the bar and food being served prior to cutlery being given to us whilst sat outside isn't ideal.
Visited for a Sunday morning breakfast courtesy of my employer.
Peaceful setting within country aide beside the Channels housing area. Well kept gardens and tidy surroundings make a good impression upon arrival.
The interior is a mix of thick timbers, glass, polished steel and smart seating. Big windows and light colours on the walls open up the space we sat within and enhanced the aesthetic.
Staff were courteous and welcoming throughout whenever coming to the tables or walking through the restaurant.
Food itself was delicious, smashed avocado, chili & lime jam on seeded toast. Boss also hash browns for each table which were enjoyable.
Being an April morning the outside seating was unoccupied but looks to be a wonderful place to enjoy a summers evening meal. Chef's herb garden & "Puddingstone" artefacts enhances the openess & friendly atmosphere where you can go see where parts of your meal come from.
A place I would certainly like to visit again to try their extended menu with my lady.
Went here for a Sunday Roast for 5 people. The food was quick to be served, but well prepared apart from the cauliflower cheese was lacking on the cheese. The vegetarian option was a bit limited, I had thought the No Meat Roast was a nut roast or similar. However it was just the veg, if there was more of an option this would be amazing. As it was it was still a good meal, but could be even better.
Loved it .. what a find ! Close to a weekend holiday let we had so gave it a try .. tapas/starter dishes were absolutely delicious and felt really modern and seasonal. Mains were just as good. Friendly staff .. live band and a great selection of decent wines and beers!
Well, incredible. My first visit. I certainly hope it's not my last. What a lovely place for lunch. Serving staff really lovely. Cookery outstanding and unusual, and interesting. To start, Pig Cheek Doughnut. Gooey, crispy, unctuous pulled pork, cheesy sauce and pineapple too. Fascinating and gorgeous in equal measure. Main: Pie of the Day. Today was braised beef. Have never had a better pie in my life. Didn't want it to end. Awesome and delicious. To finish, I had the Cherry Bakewell dessert. They seem to de-construct their desserts which normally I'm not fussed about. But my word, this cherry dish was beautiful. The chocolate crisp thingy was incredible. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to really go out with a bang. I loved the atmospheric and pretty surroundings but I did notice sitting near the kitchen, which is open format, the cooking smoky fumes did creep a little into the seated area, which was a shame. But last word must go to the chefs. Chefs, AWESOME! And thank you.
Amazing food and very good service!
Went for breakfast, choice is minimal but you can build your own if required. There's no continental pastry options. The full English was a little disappointing for the price, mainly a load of mushrooms and a tin of beans, oh and you get 1 slice of toast.
We had a family breakfast here - a party of six. We all had something different from the menu and it came out piping hot, poached, scrambled and fried eggs were cooked to perfection - I would personally recommend the eggs Royal-just yummy! Staff attentive enough without being fussy, a good start to our day.
I love a good Sunday roast and this place does a banging Sunday roast.
My wife and I both had the pork rack (although hidden under roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pud it was still a decent portion size) everything tasted amazing, quality ingredients cooked with care and attention. I would go every Sunday if I could.
The price is fair for the quality. 3 courses for £30 is decent. Its the drinks that'll stack up but that's standard.
Recommend for sure.
The staff were friendly and professional.
The table where we were seated to dine was intimate and made it easy for us to enjoy each others company
The food was good with portions a reasonable size (not too big or small). I had beef with beans. The beef was fantastic. The beans were undercooked and slightly hard, which was a shame.
The price was at the upper range of reasonable (without being especially expensive). On that basis I scored below optimal. But I would definitely go again because the overall experience was very good.
Nice food & staff plus dog friendly in the bar. We had some confusion with the cost of the battered fish and chips as there's two different prices and we'd ordered from the Wednesday 'Thai' menu (same meal is £2 more on regular menu). Dessert descriptions are a little odd.
10 Stars more like it.
Staff are always absolutely brilliant, food is always delicious.
Lovely atmosphere as well ❤️
Lovely establishment. Food and service are excellent. I can't do anything but rave about it.
Amazing venue on the edge of Chelmsford, been going here for years and the staff, the food and more importantly service has always been 5 star, nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend channels bar & brasserie so much that I proposed to my future wife here.
Hope you enjoy as much as we did 😊
Stayed as part of my 50th year celebrations. Unsure of cost but enjoyed the room and bar below immensely. Very clean with all the amenities you could want for a night away. Bed was very comfortable. Stayed in the Aspen room, quite low ceilings but added to the charm of the place. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious and the staff overall were very helpful and made us feel welcome. Only negative was noise from function room across the courtyard which my wife felt disturbed her night's sleep. Thankfully I never heard it. Would definitely stay again
Excellent service gave the waitress some instructions around delivery of foods and this was carried out to the letter. Food was was also excellent and plentiful
