Decided to give the restaurant a try tonight for the first time and was not disappointed! The food was absolutely amazing (lamb rump and the fish and chips) I could have eaten a second portion of the lamb it was that tasty! Followed by chocolate brownie which was to die for!! The young blonde waitress was lovely and welcoming and the pub itself had a warm and welcoming atmosphere! Cannot wait to return!! Thank you xx

I had my 50th birthday meal on May 27th with 20 friends. The service and food was simply outstanding all evening. Nothing was too much trouble for the whole evening. I have been today to collect some things and I have praised the staff to the on duty manager. One of the most memorable evenings of my life made so special by this establishment. well done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My husband and I ate here last night. The food is simply outstanding. The staff are smart, polite and helpful. The decor is warm and inviting and there's plenty of parking. The prices are a little high to make it a regular place to eat but you can't fault it for a special occasion.

Had the Sunday roast beef dinner this weekend. The service and food was faultless, have already booked with friends for the coming weekend.

Great service from being welcomed and then all the way through our meal. Food portions and quality were very high. Would go back again for sure.

The food was great value and full of flavour. The best thing about this place is staff and service. The assistant Manager a lovely welcoming lady called Charlie, was full of smiles and made us feel very welcome. We Will absolutely be returning.

Truly enjoyed my Company Christmas Lunch at Pointing Dog with a Great Quality Food and Services! Meal Choices pre ordered that made easier for party of 50+ people. Free parking on site. Easy access from A34 and Airport by Pass. Beautifully decorated inside and has nice seating area at the back for warmer weather times. Highly recommended!

Only stumbled upon this place while we was looking for somewhere to have Sunday dinner. Food was really nice and the atmosphere was great. They have a dog area in the pub that was nice to as we now know we can come again with friends or family with dogs. The manager found us a table without a booking that was good of her. Would say only ever so slightly more price wise than u would pay at a normal chain pub. But definitely worth it.

Nice location and surrounds, fair assortment of drinks and really nice food (chicken, chestnut mushroom and truffle pasta was great, everyone in our party enjoyed theirs.) Just one star dropped for a couple of little service things: One food order was plated a long time after the rest after a chase and a drink order went missing. Nothing so bad as to keep me from trying some of the other menu items next time! Update for 2023, Service still rather meh, but dishes good (when they appear) Can add the sea bass and camenbert to the "worth a go" list. Few more pics added with up to date evening menu and wine lists, plus current draft offers. JW Lees, so beers solid.

I have been here on several occasions over the past couple of years, each time I have experienced great service, good food and of course a lovely relaxed setting. A nice classy establishment that's perfect for a meal and a couple drinks to catch up with good friends and family.

Just under new management of JWLees,so decided to call in on Saturday night. Beautiful place, but it seemed more geared up for food than just a drinking establishment, and the drinks were on the expensive side-but I'd definitely recommend the stout because it was lovely Unfortunately, it was really quiet when we called in, so not much atmosphere, which is a shame, and despite having 3 bar staff on,2 of them seemed more interested in having a chat than serving. While we were there, we bumped into friends who'd just had a meal, and they were very impressed, so we'll definitely go back and try the food.

Came in with my mum around 2 weeks ago just for a light lunch, the food was delicious and our waiter Dan was absolutely lovely. We will definitely be coming back.

The Pointing Dog is in a great location with a spacious interior and exterior for drinking and dining . We visited on Sunday 16th July 2 days after it reopened under the new ownership of JWLees . There were many meals in the menu we could’ve chosen but decided to go for the Sunday lunch for 2 sharing platter . Our son chose Chicken Chasseur . The meals were all delicious - the sharing platter was huge with 3 meats and all the trimmings. Our waitress Lauren was lovely and attended to us promptly when we realised we had not been given the pigs in blankets which she duly fetched for us . Neither my husband or son are fans of the house beer and If we were to make one suggestion it would be to offer a couple more guest lagers/beers . Happy customers who look forward visiting again in the future

Has the potential to be fabulous! Lovely fabric... service was a little hap hazard, which we put down to him being new... opportunities missed for upselling... Food was delicious xx
