I went to Cod Mate today as my daughter wanted to treat me and her father, I was blown away by the quality of the food, they sell line caught cod, their sauces and marinades are all homemade and freshly prepared. The service was excellent, the staff amazing. I had a cod burger and was unsure if I had choosen correctly but was amazed at how crispy the batter and succulent the fish was. They do chips with the skin on which were triple cooked and were to die for. They do red onion vinegar which is delicious and the rest of the family had freshly prepared burgers which were lovely. We will definitely be going back soon as it was such a treat! They apparently do 4 different types of sausages and I think at least 4 different burgers, which included a pork chilli burger, they also do haddock in a light batter with R White lemonade in, the mind boggles. Looking forward to the adventure!
Absolutely delicious food. I've never been a fan of fish and chips but you have made me to change my mind ! And the pies...yummy. Thank you for the great meal, lovely staff and great atmosphere.
Ate here today with partner and daughter. Amazing fresh food was beautiful!! Kids mini mates fish was fantastic and my 4 year old enjoyed it greatly. The home made onion rings with sour cream and parsley sauce was delicious. Can not recommend enough will definately be returning, customer service was great and loved the interaction between staff and customers.Thankyou x

Just ordered a large lemonade batter fish and medium fish & chips. Phone order to collect. Food was fresh and ready on time. Guy serving was polite and extremely helpful. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had!!
My brother got me takeaway from here the other day, battered sausage and chips, I got given home made onion vinegar, the chips were awesome and they were the best battered sausages I have had in years, will come here again

I went to CodMate recently after work on a Friday evening, I am a bit of a local foodie fan and browsed their website earlier in the week, I was impressed with their offerings, being an avid environmentalist it was great to see responsibly sourced Icelandic Fish available, skin on chips? (now that’s different). Kent based Korkers Sausages, locally made pies and so much more, supporting local produce, wonderful. Now oddly enough I am not reviewing their fish or local produce delights. I was greeted by the exceptionally friendly Kamil, who showed me to a table of my choice then went and prepared a hot beverage for me.
I browsed the in premise menu and was drawn to one of their “All day breakfast” offerings, which Kamil explained were proving to be very popular at any time of the day. Sold – so for the next 45 minutes I had the most mouth-watering, flavourful, delectable “Full English” with a bowl of chips, local sourced sausages, literally 100% beef, burger, and all the trimmings. I was so full afterwards.
So this review is not about the Fish or other offerings this time, that friends will be very soon. Thanks Kamil & your assistant, you made me very welcome and hungriness more than satisfied.

We think the meals are reasonable prices and very friendly staff. The food is very nice, especially the pies. We go in codmate for our meals every weekend on a Saturday or Sunday. Our children love the food from codmate as well, they ask when we will be going in there again every time.
Today we have a nice day with deliciou food and super service. Love it must come and try ��
First time have tried fish&chips and hope everywhere tastes like that. Have been there few times allready, tasted different dishes and will definitely pop in again. Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Keep going guys. Fingers crossed.

Perfect place to eat all the meals you want: breakfast, luch or dinner .I totally recommend this lovely restaurant.
Incredible food, service and atmosphere! We cannot recommend this place enough. We ordered the burger and the fish and chips…. Best in Chatham! Cooked perfectly and served with a smile. It is rare you meet service staff who are happy to take your order.

Very friendly reception and helpful service throughout . Set places were clean, well lit if a little cramped. Menu choice was very good and very reasonably priced. Pensioners Fish and chips were more than adequate and well presented. Take away available next to the restaurant area. Only comment, which was passed on at the time, was that the fish batter was could have been a little more crispy, however the fish was moist and flavoursome. Excellent value for money and great service makes this new venture WELL WORTH A VISIT.
Cod Mate is an exceptional restaurant, which is under new management. The food is amazing, high quality, they do amazing burgers! The chips which are skin on, are chips that are freshly cut up and triple cooked, take a bit longer but well worth it. I had a fish burger that was amazing. It is a place that uses local produce, it doesn't use any additives and line caught cod. It does home made sauces, which taste lovely. It is like a higher class food without the cost. Exceptional service and staff, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Me and my other half my dad and step Mum and little sister all went there, for some lunch yesterday.
Now normally I an quite fussy with fish and chips as most places are not that good. And I was quite worried that this would be the same.
However as soon as we got in I knew this would be a brilliant place. The Owner went out of us way to get us a seat so we could all sit together. He was lovely and friendly and recommended a few things.
We didn't have to wait long which was brilliant as the little sister was getting a bit ratty as she was hungry.
When the food arrived it smelt wonderful. My sister had a child's portion of mini cod and chips but the portion was just right not too big or too small. And she was very happy with it.
My dad had the steak and ale pie which was out of this world and he loved it. Everybody tried strapping it. We had the sausages and they were to die for they aren't you're normal cheap sausages and the chips you had the option of skin on or skin off. (I loved having the option for that) We all had skin off and we loved the chips all lovely and hot and fresh. And we found out by the owner that the red onion finger was homemade and it was lovely. So lovely we brought a bottle of it. And he told us it should be on the shelves next year. At Aldi. We even tried some of the burger sauce which was home made too. And was amazing.
The owner and the chef both went out of their way to make sure the food and the service was out of this world. And I highly recommend this place to everyone.
We will be going back very soon. And can not wait. 😁 well done guys. Two very impressed chefs too. (Me and my other half)
Went there tonight..and I must say am pleasantly surprised. Proprietor was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. The lemonade batter on the haddock was amazingly light and skin on chips were a nice change. Will definitely be recommending and will be back :)
Had the best beef pie and chips in my whole life, no grissle, beef melts in your mouth. Amazing pink onion vinegar to die for, and the spicy scotch bonnet sauce is out of this world. What they have is passion, great service and great ideas, look our for lemonade batter on the fish and chips with skins on. Will definately go back again when I visit my sister again 10 out of 10.

This is by far the best take away restaurant I have been to in a while. The food is 100% every time I come and the staff are always polite, welcoming and friendly. I think the homemad pies and the wraps should definitely be tried by all ;-) It is a highly recommended restaurant and I willl definitely be returning again :)
