6 of us came down to The Half Moon for Sunday dinner. Everything was spot on! The service was excellent and very friendly, most of us had the roast dinner but I had the ribs which were superb, maybe the best I've ever had! I had 2 pints of Guinness which were very nearly as good as you would get in Ireland!
We would highly recommend this pub and will definitely return
Great pub, the food is excellent, the staff are friendly and their music nights are lively and get you up dancing! Would highly recommend.
Second time I went. Food was impeccable once again, great prices, and lovely staff. I had the ribs and my friend had the fish and chips. We both loved our food :)
Today I have visited the Half moon and can honestly say what a warm and friendly pub/restaurant it is.
Dave the landlord made me feel very welcome and was very accommodating for gluten free meal.
I will be returning at some point very soon x
Terrific English countryside pub, best steak and kidney pie I've ever had. Phil, the owner, treated us to after dinner brandies, and then had one of his wait staff drive us back to our B&B. Incredible! 5 stars.
I booked it for the other half's birthday and he said it was one of the best meals he has ever had! He loved the draught Cornish beer. We had moules marinieres and lamb rump and they were lovely, the meat was very tender. I've noticed since that cauliflower cheese is on the menu, my favourite, so I will have that with it next time. The service was excellent too.
Travelled all the surroundings of Horley and I eat pretty much the same thing, this place though.. Best steak, best chips and veg just right (and they had olive oil for this fussy bugger)
Excellent friendly staff too
Might just be my favourite
Good job
Had a lovely lunch there today, with five members of my family and my 3 year old granddaughter. The service and our server were brilliant, food was great and plenty of it! new to village and this is now my local give it a try!
Friendly staff, good food, great atmosphere in an historic location
Had the most warm welcome today and enjoyed a lovely Crab Salad for lunch, will be back to try The Banoffee.
Delicious Sunday roast with great ambience. Moonfest band playing and we had such a great time. Highly recommended to all!
Well worth the travel from Great Bookham, a very enjoyable family meal & very attentive service. Staff & other customers always welcoming, cannot fault it. Will definitely be having another meal very soon
Great little pub! We were made feel very welcome straight away. We had drinks and lunch 'aL fresco' in the lovely beer garden.. We were a tad late for lunch but didn't make feel to rush ordering or similar :) Loved the old fashion intimate mood .. Also, easy parking just outside the front door!
Nice friendly pub
Excellent food and service
It’s all about good food! This was a first time visit for us and we both had the roast rump of lamb with seasonal veg and cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pud. Next to my own cooking which is pretty damn good this meal ticked all the right boxes and the roast potatoes were amazing. I highly recommend you visit *****
I neglected to mention the young lad who welcomed us and served our food. He was amusing, helpful and faultless in his serving of our orders. He wasn’t local but his knowledge of local area was good. I’m sorry I didn’t ask his name . Thank you again for making our visit so enjoyable 👍
We're local to the area but only recently stopped by the Half Moon for a Sunday roast after a dog walk in the local woods.
Our expectations were exceeded - the roast was great. Well-cooked meats, fresh vegetables, spot-on roast spuds, homemade gravy and generous portions. Precisely what you want from a good pub roast. We're extremely pleased to have found it.
Pub staff are great - very dog friendly. Lovely little boozer.
Great pub in a lovely location. The chicken panko burger was outstanding.
Stopped in on the recommendation of our B&B host. Awesome recommendation. Great food, outstanding service and wonderful atmosphere. Sunday roasts, fish and chips and dessert were amazing. Thanks Alan and staff for a great evening.
Lovely pub that we stumbled upon whilst out for a little drive. Will definitely be back. Such lovely staff who were very sweet with our little baby too. Great food. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were staying at Gatwick Airport and took a taxi to this lovely local pub. Three of us had the Fish and Chips and thought they were fantastic. The burger was excellent too. We had originally wanted the Roast but you had to pre order which we will do next time!
Pleasantly surprised 😮 as I hadn't visited in a while. Had understood place had become bit of a wine bar...but quite untrue. Easygoing atmosphere, decent beer, no prob.
The Halfmoon provided a buffet for my son's first birthday and all I can say is WOW! Absolutely delicious and plenty to go around. So many people commented on how great the buffet was. Lots of options and as my son has a health condition that limits his diet they even cooked some special options that he could enjoy too. Tasty vegan and veggie options too!
The team are great and set everything up. Fantastic service and food that made celebrating our son's birthday so special.
We have been in England for a week, having travelled all the way from Australia. We're a family of 4 adults and we all 100% agreed that this pub has the best service that we've encountered thus far. They were so welcoming and attentive throughout, and were very happy to have a chat and a cheeky laugh with us. The food was also absolutely top notch and we couldn't recommend it more👌 the only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 for atmosphere was because there were only a few other people there (it was mid week and raining heavily)
Really good food. Nice ambience. The burger (Panko Chicken) was homemade, delicious and was well portioned. The coleslaw on the side was sweet and creamy; perfect in my opinion. Hostess was friendly and attentive. No complaints, just good yummy homemade pub grub.
