Having tried unsuccessfully to find a pub that does a good Sunday roast I’m my area of Devon, I came upon The Chagford Inn. Absolutely amazing beef with exceptional vegetables served in a nicely decorated room. Worth the drive from south Devon
A great place to stay/eat/drink - preferably all three. We had a lovely comfortable room, just over the courtyard from the main inn. Excellent home cooked, locally sourced food and rather too delicious beer and wine. Highly recommended!
We visited The Chagford Inn last night for a meal. I cannot recommend this pub enough!
Nice decor, lovely ambiance, fantastic menu and beautifully cooked, presented and flavoursome food. We will definitely be back! Thank you and keep up the good work!
very relaxing place to eat, service top notch, menu to die for, love the interesting ways Russel cooks all the different cuts of most delicious local beef.
Never fails to deliver the goods, if you haven't already you should definitely check this place out.
Great staff, excellent food - quality as opposed to 'pub grub' - dog welcome.
Had a really great homemade burger and nice pint of local ale. Lovely atmosphere too.
Abit pricey but your in the south,
But really a fantastic place.
Fantastic food & wonderful service! They were very accommodating of our kids pasta request. An absolute must when in the area.
Lovely pub, excellent atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty food and cold beers! I don't think I need anything else to have a great dinner out!
Excellent roast beef Sunday lunch which was amazing value. The venison pie was packed with flavour and dessert was delicious.
The service was really friendly and they were very accommodating of our dogs. Will definitely return.
Had lunch here with my wife. Young lady serving was excellent and very attentive. Best burger I’ve ever had bar none. Wife’s Venison was “melt in mouth good”, and the wines were top notch. With starter, £62 for lunch. Absolute steal for food of this quality with great service. This is on our list of revisits to do. Thanks to you all.
Wonderful food, well cooked with lots of interesting flavours.
From the outside it is very unassuming but I would wholeheartedly recommend this as a place to eat.
Stopped for lunch while on the road. An unexpectedly delicious lunch! The menu has some Italian influences which are perfectly executed. All the ingredients are local and the plates were carefully thought out, tasty and filling. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth. Our highlights included the hake, braised beef, venison ragù and chocolate delice (pictures below). The service was also warm and welcoming. Not a single complaint- I highly recommend!
Lovely, quaint pub with a gourmet menu of deliciousness. Very unassuming and relaxed atmosphere. We came to Chagford for an overnight stay and dinner date. The staff were very welcoming and accomodating throughout. The hotel room was comfortable and nicely done. Would definitely recommend a visit to this place if you are in the area.
Very good food though you'll need to order sides or several courses if you're hungry.
Went for Sunday Lunch. Interesting menu which regularly changes. Good quantity of food and absolutely amazing flavours. We had the lamb with mint sauce and it was the best mint sauce I have ever tasted. Staff were friendly too. Would recommend and will be back.
Best food in a long time, and coming from London we are quite spoilt, fresh ingredients, friendly service, definitely recommend if in the area. We had the braised beef, hake, burger and venison with polenta, all desserts also great and a fantastic cheese scone.
More of a fine dining experience than pub. The meals and service were excellent. Prices really reasonable. Massively exceeded my expectations.
Good food & wine, a pleasant evening and the staff were friendly
Had a excellent meal on our recent trip to Chagford. Well prepared food and good service.
The staff were very nice and the pub had great character. The food was excellent: portion sizes were focused on flavour and quality. The beer was one of the nicest pints I'd had in Chagford (Otter).
A lovely pub serving absolutely belting food. Top drink selection too.
Superb overnight stay and delious lunch. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended.
I was hiking the Dartmoor Way and stayed here for one night. The room was great and I had a delicious steak. It was huge, I hadn't looked at the weight when ordering. No room for a dessert. Service was excellent. They don't serve breakfasts, something I hasn't noticed when booking but there is a lovely cafe, Folklore Kitchen just opposite which is great.
The food was good but the service was not great. I think the waitresses were quite inexperienced. My sister and I ordered the Dover sole. That was all we got! A fish on a plate. We were not asked if we wanted sides, and the other 2 meals came with a full compliment. The fish was tasty but it would be better to offer sides when the meal is ordered.
Jordan, Ollie and the rest of the team went above and beyond for us! Cannot recommend The Chagford Inn enough because of their kindness and care.
After telling them we needed a table at short notice, they gladly fitted us in.
We also had a toddler coming! As most parents know a meal at 6pm is a real danger ground, but they made a special plate full of snacks ready for our arrival, to keep her happy (and it certainly did!) They also made sure she had the meal she wanted even though tomato pasta was not on the menu!
The food was absolutely delicious, I’d have eaten three portions of my mains if I could!
The atmosphere lovely and relaxed. It made going out with our family such an enjoyable experience that we cannot thank them enough and are looking forward to the next time!
A wonderful pub situated within a wonderful village. The atmosphere was calm and the staff, welcoming. The courses were neatly and exquisitely prepared for us at just the right sizes for a three course meal - my favourite being the chocolate torte at the end. I look forward to returning soon!
