A return visit to this quirky pub on a coach trip & was good to be recognized by the landlord even though my last visit was a couple of years ago....that is one good sign of an excellent landlord. Other ways in which this pub excels is the good choice of beer, including a mild, Rudgate Ruby Mild, that was in perfect condition & taken from the cask. Pork pies & other hot food on offer, good value tasty fare. A pub dog to greet you & then the landlord drawing a map pf god pubs at our next destination but I was reluctant to leave this convivial old inn. That Ruby Mild was by far the best drink that evening.

A quirky, individual pub. Great pint of bitter (Burton Bridge) and a range of pub snacks including the best pork pies you will ever taste (best coupled with one of their pickled eggs).

Stayed over night with wife in motorhome . Made to feel very welcome by landlord and locals .Fascinating place full of interesting antiques of which the landlords knows everything from how old to how much they cost him and were he got them from. Like stepping back in time.. Pie and mash very good .Recomend any in the one in the area a must to visit this pub will definetly return .And to top it all it snowed.

This place never ceases to amaze me ! Even more picture postcard attractive in the snow and with a raging log fire almost as warm as the welcome from the staff and locals 👍

A pub that time has forgotten. Forget all your mod cons, nice new furniture, deco up to the minute, this is where you can relax, be yourself, take a step back in time, enjoy chit chat with locals, take in the atmosphere and wonder of all the artifacts dotted around from time gone by. Not forgetting Alan behind the bar who has been there years always a friendly smile for anyone.

6 of us were out for a 6 mile walk, 3 miles on and it started raining, 1 mile later we reached the Yew Tree, hooray we thought, we will be able to get out of the rain and have a drink! BUT it was closed. We got there too early!Disappointed and just walking away we were amazed and pleased that the landlord took pity on us and let us in. The hospitality and beer in this incredible pub is outstanding - not to mention the outstanding passion that has driven a collection of interesting stuff that is on display, I can't explain it, you need to see and experience this for yourself. A great place we will be back.

Love it , it's a traditional pub and you just enjoy it so much why? Because it's not all plastic and piped music the client and the customers are genuine and we hardly hear any football talk . Yes I love the place and it's worth the forty mile round trip I do to visit

Had a lovely home cooked vegetarian chill with rice. Their are not many places that serve excellent veggie food so this was a real treat. Just the right level of spice and a nice mixture of vegetables. The Yew Tree Inn has a comfortable and friendly vibe. Highly recommended, I look forward to my next visit. *:)

Top pub of the type that is fast disappearing. Long may it continue! Visible history with fine ale and a warm welcome.

I fell upon this pub quite by accident in 1978, not really knowing the area. I couldn’t believe it when I revisited 37 years later and it was the same landlord! It is truly worth a visit.

Quirky little place. Very friendly. Excellent service. Greeted by Maude the resident dog who kindly shared her biscuits with our Millie and other visitors. Lunch was lovely and a great pint too. Definitely call again

An interesting old pub, with lots of unusual things scattered around and about, e.g., old motorcycles, farm machinery, one arm bandits, bicycles, furniture etc etc......oh, and a live tortoise in the room wandering around its enclosure by the fireplace! Food was a basic wholesome affair. We had steak and ale pie, mash and mushy peas in gravy followed by cherry pie and custard...very welcome after a long walk. Quality and price were excellent. Recommended!

Absolutely amazing place! Lovely, welcoming and exciting! So many things to see here, the beer is top notch and the live music is very good. Only saw the pub because of the sign on the main road but I would 100% recommend going to this pub if you’re looking for something fun and exciting!

What a perfect, no frills pub. I proper pub. After a long wet day at Alton towers we came here and received such a warm welcome, this and a homemade cottage pie was just wish we needed! Its very interesting and quirky inside, the owners are just lovely and made us feel a part of everything. It’s full of antiques and dog friendly, just a lovely find!

Around 13 of us turned up unannounced on a rainy Sunday for food and drinks. Atmosphere of this pub is amazing, really traditional pub (not many left) the staff are friendly and dogs are allowed which is great for the location. We took it upon ourselves to sit in the beer tent set up for the mini festival just gone to which the landlord kindly allowed. He was also happy to serve us drinks from the German beer menu which wasn't actually running that day. After we got a bit rowdy (13 half cut blokes left to it) I think it was really accommodating of the landlord to provide us with some traditional games to which we obliged (kept us well put of trouble) Great visit

A proper pub We didn't eat there but the food served looked good. Talked to local people and had a very social time. Exactly what a pub should be with many interesting artifacts including some clockwork music players. Has to be seen to be believed. One hopes it never changes.
