A return visit to this quirky pub on a coach trip & was good to be recognized by the landlord even though my last visit was a couple of years ago....that is one good sign of an excellent landlord.
Other ways in which this pub excels is the good choice of beer, including a mild, Rudgate Ruby Mild, that was in perfect condition & taken from the cask. Pork pies & other hot food on offer, good value tasty fare. A pub dog to greet you & then the landlord drawing a map pf god pubs at our next destination but I was reluctant to leave this convivial old inn. That Ruby Mild was by far the best drink that evening.
A quirky, individual pub. Great pint of bitter (Burton Bridge) and a range of pub snacks including the best pork pies you will ever taste (best coupled with one of their pickled eggs).

Stayed over night with wife in motorhome . Made to feel very welcome by landlord and locals .Fascinating place full of interesting antiques of which the landlords knows everything from how old to how much they cost him and were he got them from. Like stepping back in time.. Pie and mash very good .Recomend any in the one in the area a must to visit this pub will definetly return .And to top it all it snowed.
