Called in for lunch. We were greeted and made to feel very welcome. Good choice of food and drink. We just had sandwiches from the lunch menu. They were extremely tasty and the chef accommodating leaving the sauce separate.
The Frickles are a must to try too.
Will be back again very shortly
I had a very good beef Sunday roast which was gluten free including the tasty gravy (though sadly not the Yorkshire pudding about which I heard a glowing report from my other half to whom it was donated). Thank you to The Ship staff for expanding the GF menu to include roast dinners!

Had lunch here on Friday. Excellent welcome, service and food. Clearly targeting and achieving a higher than normal level of pub food. Creative menu and my choices were presented extremely well with good taste and combinations. Fairly quiet hence the 4 stars for atmosphere but nicely decorated and a little gem which deserves to be supported
Really excellent. From the welcome in, through the very well kept beer, and the best veggie burger, it was obvious how much effort has gone into this pub. Nice bar area and slightly separate eating area makes it great for both. Staff were all great. Highly recommend a visit.
Nice atmosphere. We love places near fire-feels like at home) want to return again and again.
Came last night for food with 9 of us. First of all, the staff were incredibly lovely, we were a little bit late however they were so nice about it and still accommodated us. They saw that my 1 year old was getting cranky so allowed us to order for her early and they tried to entertain her which was super nice of them! The food was lovely, I had the fish and chips which was cooked beautifully and everyone else enjoyed their meals. The reason for the no 5* is because there’s no child’s menu:( they offer half portions of the normal menu for children however a lot of it isn’t really child friendly! She did enjoy the cheese pudding starter and chips but it’d be ideal if there were either more basic items on the menu or a child’s menu itself!
Again though, staff were lovely and so was the food.
We went early Friday 29th Sept we had a lovely welcome, the staff were very friendly and attentive to us. The lady who took our order was absolutely lovely, there was no pressure to order food she gave us plenty of time to decide. When the food came it was absolutely delicious , cooked beautifully and the Sticky Toffee pudding was divine 😋 lovely and light. The Chef is amazing 👏,, we will definitely be going back and will recommend all our friends, thank you xx
Under new ownership after a troublesome last few years. Great atmosphere with welcoming, friendly front of house. Dog friendly which, despite not having a pooch, I like. Don’t be visiting if in a rush but be assured the wait is worth it…..food is lovely, freshly prepared and locally sourced. A nice touch is half portions available for the smaller appetites. Overall, a great place to visit and I wish the team every success as the pub goes from strength to strength.
Very nice food, the lamb was stunning. Very stingy portion size for a roast and barely any gravy on the plate. Asked for more gravy and got charged £1.50 which I thought was poor form for a meal costing £17.50.
Apple crumble was delicious and a good size but literally came with a thimble full of custard. Asked for more which was brought quickly and without charge this time.
Place was also very cold. Lady on the table next to us was eating in her big coat which staff should be noting.
I realise the pub trade is under the cosh at the minute but this could have easily been a 5 star review if they weren't so desperate to cut corners.
I thought it was a very limited menu, portion of food we ordered was quite small, although delicious! Dessert menu only had 3 options. However the staff were lovely and welcoming, and to be fair they are a new venture and I wish them luck.
