Visited here for two meals recently. The first on an evening, we had their home made pies which were delicious. The second was Sunday lunch when we had their roast dinner. Again it was excellent with a good quantity of veg and tender beef. Service was excellent on both occasions. Loved that it was very dog friendly too.

We had lovely dinner with very very warm welcome and great customer service. Fabulous place to eat hot and fresh food, with backing music, very attentive Staff Members who doing everything to accommodate you.Fire on dark, rainy day while you been on hike, homemade fresh pizza, fries and tea was our personal heaven and full happiness. We love Castleton and Hope Valley. George will be our choice for further stays. We advice to book table , as it goes busy!(the best place to eat, also great place to stay, and smiling , friendly and professional Team make experience great). Greetings!

We had a nice meal at this pub. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. The dessert menu was extensive - the only problem was choosing one as there were so many 'must have' options. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. Will definitely return for another meal when next in the area.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in Castleton recently and came to The George for a meal. Without a reservation and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The whole time they gave the perfect level of service. The food was fantastic and when I asked for an alteration to my meal they said yes without hesitation. Would recommend to everybody and will return if we are ever in Castleton again!

The food is absolutely incredible. I cannot emphasise this enough; both the vegetarian calzone and nut roast are the best we've ever had. Great beer selection and lovely staff as well. Easily 5 stars, you won't regret coming here!

Our favourite village, The George being a popular place to eat and drink, always has plenty of people in it and strives to create a good atmosphere along with good food. Having said that I've always eaten the pizza. Superb sitting outside on a summer's night....Pizza and a great pint of Madri. Service is very good, Saturday night with the rugby on ...never got up once as drinks were brought straight to our table...Two hot and spicy pizza's ordered for my wife and I. Well done to all the staff at the George....look forward to our next visit 👍

Place was pretty busy when we arrived but we were found a table pretty quickly by a friendly bearded bar man. Had a slight wait due to how busy the place was but the food was well worth it, two pizzas were both really tasty and the sea bass from the specials was to die for. We will definitely be returning

Live locally, but fancied trying somewhere new (to us) for dinner - booked a table for two and a dog and couldn't have had a better time. Our server (Tom, I think his name was) was very friendly and was happy to ask the kitchen our questions and helped out with some dinner for our dog. Food was delicious (especially the homemade homity pie!) and always happy to have a pint of Black Sheep available. We will be back again, hopefully to share this great experience when we have people visiting.

Fantastic Pizzas, well sauced, good toppings, generous sizes. Very well kept beer, speedy service, and pleasant staff. The dog loved the piece of Pepperoni I dropped on the floor.

What a lovely place to stay in Castleton! When we arrived to check in, after a day of mountain bike riding, they cleared space in the armour plated bike store for us while we had a nice pint. Really lovely people running the pub and we were offered a table for dinner. We didn't take the offer as we fancied wandering off elsewhere around Castleton. The room was lovely, and a decent size with decent facilities. There is a carpark out back with 3 or 4 spaces for guests only. The single only slight downside of The George was that the incredible breakfast (which really was amazing) wasn't until 9 which meant that getting out for the day had to be pushed backwards. We would definitely stay at the George again in the future.

After a long walk, nothing better than finding a cosy pub with a roaring fire. Nice selection of beers and good home cooked food, the steak and ale pie was especially good

We had a fantastic meal with the family & the pies & deserts are superb. The staff were amazing & it was great they had full knowledge of the menus & drinks available at the bar, they just reeled everything off the tops of their heads. We will definitely be back.

I stopped off here to take shelter from the rain whilst out walking on the Mam tor loop. I ordered a 12 inch pizza to take out and a pint of Madri total bill was about £16. The staff were friendly and welcoming would definitely return.

Very friendly staff, nice seating inside and on the front of the pub. Dog friendly inside and out. Food was very good, only small comment was that the breadcrumbs on my Mac and cheese were not “cooked” so scooped them off. But otherwise very tasty!

Lovely friendly bar staff.Cannot comment on the rooms as did not stay here.Just want to add ...this is probably the most dog friendly pub that I have ever been in and that EVERY pub needs someone like Jess on the team 🤗 maybe a Patrick or two ? as well

Best roast dinner I have had. Generous portions and the nut roast was delicious! The apple crumble was also really good. Great location and a cosy atmosphere

Stopped in for some food and drink after a nice walk. Great location after a day in the peaks. 6 of us ate and the food was superb, especially the pizza from The Pizza Box. Great staff who are really attentive. To top it off, after an issue with our car, the staff drove us to Bamford to collect our friends car. Absolute lifesavers as the kids didn’t fancy walking a further 6 miles. Thanks so much!
