We arrived around 1230 on a Saturday having walked from a local village. Although we were the only customers the greeting was super friendly and the service was brilliant. The food was delicious, especially the home made soup. Definitely going back, and this will become the new half way point.
Having visited other pubs in Castle Donington this is one of the best by far.

The Nag's Head it's probably the best place to eat in Castle Donington! Fish and chips was great and the Sunday roast is awesome! Great choice and great value. Staff is friendly, prices are good. I highly recommend a dinner or a lunch here!
Great staff, excellent selection of beers and awesome food - the steaks and (homemade) burgers are really worth a try.
Visited the place a few months back.
The staff were friendly and attentive, the beer was cold and crisp and the food was delicious (I had a burger and chips because Lee is too lazy to do Ploughman's Platters at night 😁 ) and reasonably priced.
Also there's plenty of parking behind the pub.
Lekker like a cracker
We were in Castle Donnington for our daughter’s wedding. Family started arriving the night before, so we needed to find somewhere to feed 19 people. The Nags Head said they could accommodate us so we booked.
We didn’t expect to all be seated together, so when we arrived to find a large section reserved for us and tables arranged together we were so grateful and knew we had made the right choice.
Our server (so sorry can’t remember her name) was friendly, attentive and efficient, a real credit to The Nags Head.
Drinks were flowing, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was fabulous.
All the meals arrived together, hot and freshly prepared. Drinks arrived without delay.
Thank you to the whole team for making the evening a huge success.
Would definitely recommend The Nags Head and will certainly go back.
Amazing place! Asked for my burger to be extra hot and was presented with the most delicious and unbelievably spicy dish! A burger topped with a Carolina Reaper! Amazing. Should definitely be put on the menu! Not only is the food excellent, the staff are welcoming and attentive and the whole place has a vibrant and warm atmosphere, great evening!
Lovely, hearty, and tasty British pub food.
A to die for burger and chips and a fantastic gammon and eggs meal, accompanied by a couple of lovely cold beers.
What more could you ask for, you say? Welcoming and friendly bar and kitchen staff.

My father-in-law has been going to this pub for decades, and introduced us to it a few years ago. It is a lovely pub with great food and beer.
Sadly he passed a few weeks ago, so we decided to hold the wake in his honour at the Nags Head.
Cindy and her team were magnificent, opening the pub to us all. They laid on a delicious spread, and couldnt do enough to help us through this emotional time.
We gave my father-in-law a send off that he would have loved.
We will, of course continue visiting and enjoying this lovely pub with our family and friends.
Popped in here before download festival this year, service was amazing and the staff were even better 👌 the owner was so lovely and we felt so welcome, I will 1000% be back at The Nags before next years festival! ...we'll try and make sure Chris keeps his clothes on next year 🤣
Such a beautiful place with a really friendly welcome, and amazing food. The garlic fried mushrooms starter with warm bread is absolutely fantastic , we would definitely recommend it, but everything coming out the kitchen looks mouthwatering. There are amazing dishes to suit every palate; from meat eaters to vegan diets (and everything in between). We will definitely be coming back. Without doubt this place is a gem 💎.

Absolute gem of a pub! Beautiful food, the steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was beautiful- I had the peppercorn.
The children had the spaghetti and the portion sizes were generous. They really enjoyed their food.
The puddings were gorgeous and really finished off the meal well.
