Visited here last night with 3 friends and we all ordered fillet steak. The meal was outstanding, cooked to how we wanted. Compliments to the chef, but please please improve on your coffee/tea facilities. No coffee was available only tea and it's just so nice sometimes to finish off such a lovely meal with a nice coffee. Looking forward to visiting again x

We visited yesterday while we are on our camping trip. We were all given a lovely warm welcome and our dog was welcome too 😊 the food was absolutely lovely, the views were fabulous as we sat outside and the staff were great too 🙂 thank you for a lovely meal, we all thoroughly enjoyed it 👌

Got a voucher off groupon as a xmas pressie for 2 rumps steaks upon entering the pub (1st visit) the decor n warm welcum was very nice not many in but a Sunday evening sumtimes expected afta Sunday lunchtime we ordered starters which was very nice highly reccommend the garlic creamy mushroons lovely the waiter explained that there ad no rump steaks left but were we willing to have sirlion which was absolutely beautiful cooked just to perfection and very tasty n tender 1st visit but definitely wont be the last very nice food and friendly staff we will be back and will definitely tell friends n family
Went on Wednesday and loved it the food was cooked perfectly and the waiter was great. Will definitely be back. Best steak we have had in a while. Deserts were lovely too :)

Beautiful venue, has a very cosy welcoming with a combination of wood and coal fire aromas flying about, the staff are as polite as anything.
NOTE FOR VEGGIES - check menu before coming, my partner was very limited to choices she could have, was literally 1 starter and a couple mains.
For starter I had the Italian bomb which was one of the tastiest starters I’ve ever had, beautiful creation and packed full of flavour.
Partner had garlic mushrooms with the cheese melted on top and was very rich and tasted fantastic.
The hanging kebab is quite overpriced for £23 for what it is and the amount of meat you get, did not understand why it comes with a naan bread either, naan bread just crumbled so couldn’t really do anything with it, wouldn’t buy that dish again sadly as the meats tasted great.
Partner had the teriyaki halloumi and she said it was faultless.
Overall a very nice visit and I’ll happily return, just avoid that kebab next time.
Booked Sunday lunch. Service was excellent staff were attentive and helpful they get 10 out of 10 for me along with food quality and quantity. A must try if your in the area.
Great Food, around 20 minutes for the starter and main to arrive. Absolutely delicious. Warm and cozy atmosphere with stunning scenery in the beer garden over looking Durham City. Friendly Staff and Locals. Highly recommend!
Had lunch today staff very welcoming and polite.great idea no starters on Sunday lunch menu you enjoy the mains better and room for a very nice selection of dessert.well worth the money and the travel from consett area .

Pleasantly designed interior, with soft colours that make for an enjoyable eating and drinking experience.
Staff super friendly, polite and civil.
Now....the food....OMG! Great sized portions, hot, loads of taste and flavour. Veg comes as sides, is piping hot and delicious too.
If you're in the area...get booked in and get in there!!

Sunday lunch today was amazing. Melt in the mouth roast lamb 😋 my partner had the beef which she said was delicious. The veg was cooked to perfection, we added cauliflower cheese as an extra, very tasty too. Huge Yorkshire puddings and lush gravy. Although very busy the service was spot on. Will definitely return.
What hidden gem 💎 this place is, great service from friendly and efficient staff who were warm and welcoming as is the general atmosphere and ambience of the place. Drink and food orders taken swiftly and only a short wait for food which was delicious (Crispy bellypork Sunday lunch 😃😋😋), even decided to stay for another drink in the beer garden/terrace after food. Cocktails were available and the electric jellyfish is a masterpiece.
All in all very very happy as were my companions.
Lovely place with querky decor..we went as a large party and all members had a lovely meal..portions were big and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great outdoor space if anyone wanted to sit outside. Only thing that was a slight let down for me personally is menu has changed and some of the classics have gone so limited choice for plain eaters..this is not the venues fault, just not ideal for my pallet so would have to have a child's meal if i returned. Again lovely place.
