Always stop by in this pub when visiting Cartmel. The food is good quality and good value and the beer is very good. A nice pint of draught beer whilst eating lovely fish and chips!

Popped in on the way back from a winter walk with two muddy dogs and got the warmest of welcomes from the staff. They made a fuss of our dogs, and they even got a free dog treat. Thank you so much 💓

Pub is really nice. Friendly staff. Only went in for a drink as the bus service doesn't run after 2.30

Only popped in for a drink. They are dog friendly which is brilliant. They have a nice garden plus a sort of conservatory. They serve comfort food fish and chips etc, but didn't have a chance to try any.

Wheelchair access is tricky because of cobblestones and a pothole in front of the entrance. Loos are on a level surface but very small. A large part of the interior is accessible but not the conservatory or the beer garden. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food and drink are excellent.

Really friendly staff. The kitchen took our order a few minutes before their scheduled end of dinner service which, having previously worked in hospitality, is a rarity. Terrific selection of beers that you wouldn't even find in a taphouse in central Brighton or Manchester. The first place I've found in the UK serving dunkel beer!! Dog friendly is a bonus and they put up with our bouncy girl.

Stayed for one night in one of the rooms and enjoyed the pub as well. The room was newly refurbished and extremely clean. The furniture and design touches were very nice. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom well thought of and stocked. Breakfast was across the road at another B&B and was delicious. The pub has a very good atmosphere and there was live music when we attended. All the staff were incredibly polite and helpful Overall can recommend The Royal Oak

A decent village pub with an exceptional beer garden. The food was good without being spectacular. A year ago prices wouldn't have been as hiked as they seemed to me. £7 for loaded fries. £8 for two pretzels. £15 for a main. A meal for four with two rounds of drinks came in about £100.

Came here for my 50th birthday. We had a lovely Sunday roast, which is the best I've had. Staff are lovely and friendly. There is a lovely stream nearby, where your dogs can play in. Ask for thr cauliflower cheese, it's the best!!

Regularly enjoy Sunday lunch here. Highly recommend a visit to anyone in the Cartmel area. Great food, beautifully cooked meats, imaginative vegetables, best roast spuds for miles, gravy, and extra gravy available! As I'm a Lancashire Lass, I was born with gravy in my veins, so this is a very important and impressive feature of Royal Oak Sunday Lunch! Sit outside on a lovely day, cosy up inside on cold and/or rainy days, or there's the conservatory for the in-between weather! Service is always absolutely impeccable and noteworthy. I really appreciated the lovely person in charge who noticed my dad was disabled and unsteady on his feet and so just seated him at the closest table and just swapped the reservation signs around to save him walking further than absolutely necessary. Whether you want a leisurely, relaxed, tasty, and friendly Sunday lunch experience or a good night out with friends and tasty food and events mid week, give The Royal Oak a try. You won't regret it, or its warm Cumbrian welcome or, indeed, the lovely cheerful service of all their engaging and interesting international bar staff members.

Fantastic pub, been here many times and their drink selection is excellent. Perfect place to sit by the roaring fire and enjoy the fell brewery beers. They also have a great selection of guest beers. Would recommend the fell draught stout for any Guinness drinkers. Food has also been really good, keep an eye out for specials.
