Reviews The Bike Lock

This place is basically a manifesto on why you should always spend your money on a local independent business instead of a chain. First of all, the food and coffee. The owner made me try their "world famous fish fingers sandwich" and oh boy! Bread was fluffy and thick, the sandwich was tasty and even the salad dressing was surprisingly good. The Victoria sponge cake was amazing, wonderful taste and moist, plus it was a real slice, not the tiny lego piece you get in certain coffee shops. The coffee is also really good! There are a lot of good specialty coffee places in Cardiff tho, so for me the star of the show was the FOOD. Later on, when I was contemplating my choice of diner, he offered to put a twist on my egg sandwich and yet again, 10/10, flavortown. My tastebuds were having a party. And it was so appreciated that he took the effort to make the sandwich even funkier than it was. Second point, the owner is so kind! He was incredibly accommodating and helpful and without being invasive, he made sure I felt welcomed. You can tell he really wants you to have a good day and tries to create something special in here. Last but not least, this place has so much to offer. They have lockers you can rent for luggage storage, a SHOWER, a small conference room type of situation, and pretty much anything for the bike fanatic. I don't bike but it's pretty cool that they offer workshops! The atmosphere is very relaxing and wholesome. In conclusion, go support them. They're amazing!! It really makes you wanna have something like this in your own city.

Smooth, easy to use, very secure cycle storage in the centre of Cardiff. They do a cracking fish finger sandwich too, delightfully soft bread, generously sliced. I was a bit unclear on how the cycle storage all worked, as I wasn't sure if it was ok to just wheel my bike in through the front door, but it turns out that's exactly what you do. The staff are friendly and right there at the counter to help out or direct you to the best storage for your needs. They were even willing to help me lift my heavy bike onto the storage racks, although that turned out not to be necessary as it was quiet so there was lots of room to park my bike on the flat. You lock your bike up, then leave a name and contact number with a member of staff, and you can pay upfront or on departure. It's really flexible, and such great peace of mind if you're very fond of your bike like I am and don't like parking it on the street. I'm so happy something like this exists.

Highly recommend this lovely social enterprise coffee shop / secure bike storage/ meeting space that is dog friendly too! I hosted a company off site making use of the meeting room; it was great to have a dedicated space for sessions and to also be able to break out into the main cafe area. The WiFi is excellent. Tom and the team made sure we had all we needed for the day. The room hire was really reasonably priced and comfortable. Coffee (and the espresso martinis) and the food is great too - all locally sourced and fresh. Thanks Tom and team, keep up the amazing work you're doing for the community!

Absolutely delicious breakfast sandwich offering. Spicy bacon sandwich. In order to get fresh bread they get it from the market, so wait until half 8 for hot breakfast. Fantastic local coffee. A lovely place for morning treats.

After my neighbour had his bike stolen in the city centre, I decided to look for a safe place to park my bike. I went to the Bike Lock expecting to drop my bike, meet a colleague, and go into a meeting in the city. The welcome and atmosphere in the Bike Lock were so good we met up and stayed for a drink in cake. Great casual, friendly environment with good food and drink catering for a variety of tastes and diets. I will be back. And it was great to go to my meeting knowing my bike was in safe hands.

I have found a safe space in this lovely cafe. The owner Tom is super friendly, not to mention the coffee is actually super delicious. The food is also affordable and really yummy. The wifi is very fast and they have a good range of tables for those looking to study or just meet a friend. Highly recommend this great cafe. Nb. Also if you cycle they have storage spaces for your bike for free whilst in the cafe and a small fee if you want to leave it and go. (Showers and great bathrooms too)

Really tasty food, good coffee and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly for remote workers. Highly recommend this place and especially the bacon sandwiches - thick bacon, fresh doorstop bread and the chilli salsa is something else. Drop by and check them out!

Got to say this is one top place to visit, particularly for me during lunch breaks. The staff have been so friendly and deliver well on all levels. I’ve visited twice and ordered the fish finger sandwich each time.. it is so tasty and made so well. I’ll definitely be visiting more and regularly as i’m still yet to try the other stuff. Great addition to this part of town.

Food is fabulous, the juices are great but the star was the flat white. So good it could have been made by a Kiwi.

First time visit to Cardiff and this little gem was recommended. The lovely Luke made us very welcome. Great cosmo/industrial vibe with vegetarian options....and a bar!! Great place to hang out at any time of day.

Fantastic people with a great agenda of being a safe place for all wanting a cuppa and potentially wanting to store their bike! Very clean and friendly
