Picked up a takeaway here tonight, tried a lot of Caribbean and african food outlets and first time with one on my doorstep, The Rocking chair.. Can't believe I missed this one! Great food guys well done.

Friendly and helpful staff, they can't do enough for you. Even though I didn't hear a single Caribbean accent, which I was looking forward to (missing it) these guys were so lovely.
The place is clean, comfy and welcoming. Tables are nicely spaced out for social distancing, it wasn't crowded. Music was good and set the ambience. You can see into the kitchen through a window and watch chef work his magic!
I was hesitant because many "Caribbean" restaurants, anglicise the food and ends up tasting unauthentic, but I was very pleasantly surprised with The Rocking Chair. It tasted so close to home, best I've had in Wales. I would just add, you should know Caribbean folk like a bit more gravy. 😁. I judge Caribbean restaurants by their jerk chicken, once they get that right I will try other dishes. Ital next for me!
I would definitely recommend, it ticks all the boxes. (Except please make more veggie and beef patties! 😂)
Tip: on the menu it just says "plantain", the whole plantain is sliced and fried. I was curious how many pieces, but it was enough to satisfy this fried plantain lover.
Another Tip:the takeout menu is cheaper than the dine in.
My friends and I had a fantastic night here. From the moment we walked in all the staff made us feel so welcome. The barman made us a special Caribbean cocktail 🍹which was so good. We headed here before a big night out so also had some food. Soul in a bowl. Delicious. Food and drinks were so reasonably priced. Music was great too. We felt like we were on holiday. We danced and laughed the whole time we were there. Thanks so much to all the staff who work together to make this place great. We will be back for sure and next time we will bring all our friends. Xx

I moved from London to Cardiff 4 years ago. My family is Jamaican. I had given up of getting any authentic yard food. That was amazing. Perfectly spiced, fall apart meat and so much food I have lunch for tomorrow. I will definitely be back to try everything. Thank you. I'll actually take my Mum. Best compliment I could ever give!

Always outstanding food and services. Just need to add, I went tonight and I can honestly say that that was the best priced food and the best cooked food I have had in cardiff. Th service was personal and friendly made me feel like I went round a family members for food, even my 11yr old eats everything. Thank you guys for another special night. ❤
Went to the rocking chair again with the family and once again the food was outstanding the service was 10/10 this place is special. Honestly if you don't like this place or the staff you got something wrong. Love you guys thanks a million for more memories ❤
Was a lovely chilled atmosphere with great music.. staff were polite and friendly. Food looked amazing (I didn't eat but some of the girls did) .. will be going back again :-) x

Popped in here for a takeaway when I was on a stag do. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Ordered a mutton curry and a couple of festivals. The food was amazing and the portions were massive. Probably could have fed 2 people with it! I'll definitely be coming again if the opportunity arises

Went to watch the Wales game recently and was made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Very friendly and the service was top notch along with the food. Well recommended and will go again.
My family and my self had a cracking meal last night on 02/10/18 in Rockin’ chair. My mother had this fish mixed with vegetables in an onion bhaji style with salad and homemade sweet potato chips and myself and my father had this Jamaican style chicken with Jamaican BBQ sauce and kidney beans and rice with homemade coldsaw and salad. For sides we had this homemade doe balls made with Fried fresh bread and a small dish of mild Lamb curry and the food for me 10/10 as it was the nicest meal I ever had in Rockin’ Chair. Red stripe is the nicest Jamaican larger that I had out of all the largest I’ve had ever. I would definitely recommend this place for a meal, night out and etc...
