We recently celebrated a 70th birthday here. The venue, service and food were exceptional (our guests were very impressed) and we would not hesitate to recommend the Old Post House to anyone considering booking an event. Having visited many other high profile hotels in Cardiff and Newport this was the best by far. Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon.

Just got back from my friends baby shower and I just wanted to say what a fantastic time we all had. I could not fault the service from when I first started organising the event right up to the last goodbye. The afternoon tea was amazing and very good value for money. Christmas Sunday lunch 11/12/16 with the family, the food was excellent , atmosphere fab and a special visit from Santa, the kids really enjoyed the afternoon with plenty of after lunch activities , well done to a wonderful team

Stayed here on a busy rugby weekend in the city last November- ideal location to stay while enjoying a theatre break away from the hustle and bustle of city centre! Lovely place with spacious, newly furnished rooms; staff were very friendly and helpful. Will certainly be back and would highly recommend!

WOW!! We were lucky enough to have a wedding day here back in July, and Chris, Faye & Lynsey ensured the whole day went to plan and without a hitch! Their attention to detail is exemplary and they are so approachable and attentive. A venue that is intimate, yet spacious, in a beautiful setting, with fantastic hosts! Oh, and the food....just amazing! � we will see you at Christmas!!

We had dinner on a Friday evening. The service was superb.
We all had fish main dishes with garlic bread as a starter. Our son loved the garlic bread. All the fish dishes were excellent. Shout out for the dauphinoise potatoes, which I could inhale.

Beautiful food me and my partner have been coming here ever since we found out about this place 2 years ago and now come all the time. Brought my mum and dad who said it was the best food they have tasted and also my friend who agreed. Their steak is 10/10! Stunning food and amazing service.
Went to The Old Post last night ( table 15). The food was absolutely amazing, I'm sure.Gordan Ramsay was in their kitchen, that's how amazing the food was. Staff friendly and very attentive.. I seriously can't wait to go back for a delicious Lamb Rump.. See you soon.
Only went for coffee and cake with a friend. Coffee is delicious, and most cakes are handmade and beautiful. I've been twice now with friends for a catchup and the lady serving us with short dark hair is very friendly and helpful.
Most stunning food I think I've ever had. Can't praise it enough. I would eat here every day if I could. Will return very soon

As a group of six foodies lol, we go out every four weeks to try different restaurants. On occasions we are pleased and at times not, even though some continue to thrive on past recommendations. The Old Post House in St Fagans, Cardiff should hold their heads high. From the first greeting upon arrival, to being escorted to our table was a wonderful experience as the decor and little nooks and crannies where other diners sat was exquisite. Us six came for the Christmas Menu, which can leave you underwhelmed or excited, the Old Post House fitted the super excited category. The little touches through our meal was joyous and each and every one of us enjoyed our side appetiser. My starter was simply wonderful with poignant tastes tantalising your taste buds, all six verified the same. I went for main course for the Christmas Dinner, turkey wrapped in bacon with the most delicate textured gravy and wonderfully prepared vegetables, in fact we all agreed that the food was sensational considering the kitchen staff must have been under a lot of pressure. Our deserts were perfect, along with ice cream to die for. After our meal we sat and relaxed and never felt under pressure to move on. The service from the serving team was 5 star each and every one knowing their boundaries and knowledge of when to interact with their guests. Now this is how a restaurant should be, in house training to perfection and it shows. We live local to the Old Post House and we never realised what a gem was on our doorstep, we shall certainly be returning to try out the other menus on offer. The Old Post House and their team should hold their heads high, as this is a little gem, I advise you all try, I guarantee you will return.

Lovely friendly staff, nice ambience and above all delicious food.
Prices are reasonable for freshly cooked food with thought and flavour.
I usually order fish mains as they do them so well - Hake & Sea Bass a personal favourite.
Good wine & desert options available.
Looking forward to dining here again soon
