What a great pub with serious history of railway heritage. Go in and have a good look around. To get upstairs foot the iriginal cast iron Great Western Railway staircase. Staff are efficient, helpful and generally everything you'd wish for in a pub.

Exceptionally busy pub. Convenient for the station and city centre. Typically Wetherspoons - cheap beers with a good offer of staple choices plus guest ales. Service is brilliant. You might have to stand but a sacrifice worth making for affordable drinks.

We had breakfast and were back for a few drinks in the evening. Was a decent breakfast and impressively prompt. Drinks as ever in a spoons were cheap. Atmosphere was ok but not great. Worth a visit 👍

One of my Favourite spoons in Cardiff. Nice to have a bit of music and a few drinks. Food was absolutely out of the world. This was the best spoons food I've ever had. Ideally located near the Cardiff Central train station. And a short walk from the city centre. Lots of space. Few floors with loads of seating. Can't wait to return. Fast service by the staff.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere and incredibly cheap drinks. I had a double XIX berry vodka and lemonade and it was less than £4 and a double Jameson and coke was roughly £4.50. That is some incredible value for money!

The Great Western is a must-visit on a pub crawl in Cardiff. It's right next to the train station, has cheap beer and the food and service is always excellent. The pub is always pleasant even on a Saturday night.

Good place to go before the rugby. Friendly staff and quick service. Does get a bit full after the game. Only down side is they prices up for the internationals. Not far on people who pop in everyday for a pint and a chat

Excellent manager here, cares about the customers. It’s a cut above your average ‘Spoons. If your running a high class joint, poach this places manager, wouldn’t be out of place in Mayfair .

Kofi was an absolute start tonight- best customer service I’ve received from spoons. Accidentally ordered a red wine instead of a rose and he had it switched in less than a minute, food orders were under 10 minutes but Kofi made the night with his service- hope this review gets him good recognition because he was a star. Thank you so much Kofi! Will be returning again

Only popped in for a coffee my friend had larger. Was so pleased you have a disabled toilet downstairs. It was very cosy and staff were lovely. Coffee machine wasn't very hot and had no sprinkles for cappuccino and I personally cleaned the area on three occasions with my own tissues. Would however go back again to try the food as it looked good passing us.

Brilliant pub next door to the Cardiff Central Station, hence the name in honour of Train Line GWR. Wetherspoon, lots of seating, good beers, good quality food with good pricing for a city central location.

Breakfast was mediocre, it was far too quick coming out of the kitchen and subsequently luke warm, this was though gratefully received as the day before (and at a Wetherspoons up the road) it took 1 hour 20 mins.
