Ate at Mirchi a couple of years back but at that time the food wasnt what he hoped. Thought we'd try it out again this Ramadan especially with the greatly valued buffet. And I have to say we haven't had food this good in years. Excellent food. Not one dish to complain about in the Iftar buffet. Will definitely be going down again and again and again...!
Came here for my daughters 21st birthday, with the family had a lovely meal. The food is better than some places in Southall in London, got served by a lovely lady, would recommend the family platter, delicious, and also loved our curries, daughter enjoyed it as well, as blowing out her cake, so thats all that matters, could be back for my boys birthday.
Very authentic food. We had chicken tikka, Nihari, Lamb Karahi and Kerela Dall. All the food was excellant.
And best of all value for money with soft drinks it came to total under £40. Not bad for 4 people!!!
Excellent service from greeting to leaving.
Im a regular customer at Mirchi its mine and my childrens first choice when dining out. We went there this evening what can I say the restaurant looks amazing! I was instantly lifted! Decor is looking on point. We had our usual starters of masala fish and lamb seekh kebabs. I thought I'd give the meat samosas a try, they were hot and crispy with a generous filling reminded me of my mother's. Special boneless lamb karahi 10/10! Oozing cheese naan yum! Service was excellent especially Maria! Smiley, friendly and attentive don't let go of her! And to top it off Complimentary Falooda! 1 very pleased birthday girl!
Great hospitality by the owner Asif and food was delicious. Would highly recommend and revisit. Came from Luton
We were so hungry and hadn't eaten on city Rd before this was perfect lush food!!
Maria our waitress was so kind
Always had excellent food very friendly especially Maria nothing is ever to much trouble would highly recommend eating here
Went for the iftari buffet yesterday, food was very tasty and was of authentic Pakistani taste. Family really enjoyed the food and there was plenty to go around as the staff was working hard to ensure that everyone was looked after.
Great food. Great staff. Have catered wonderfully for our registry, birthdays, family get togethers. Even catered for my mehndi!!! Professional and sincere people! Excellent food (must try the sheesh kebabs) and excellent prices!!!!!

Fantastic little restaurant and take away.
Delicious food and good service, reasonably priced and generous portions.
It's one of the yummiest food cuisines in the world
After a day hiking the Brecon Beacon nothing better than a mix of great food at Mirchi. The restaurant is situated on the high road Cardiff. We visited on bank holiday Monday and roads were very busy and we managed to find parking. Please be mindful restrictions in place during non bank holiday times. The restaurant has a good decor and lots of seating. The BBQ and charcoal grill is at the front and customers can choice and see while the food is bring cooked by the chef. Staff were very friendly and we were seated in a very nice spot curved sofa seat and table. The restaurant has its own VIP wing if you want to treat that special person or for a family event, birthday etc. Once seated we given menu and able to relax. The waiter gave us enough time to read menu and told about specials on menu if we wanted it. We went for the mixed grill, king prawn karchai, meat and chicken karchai, mushroom rice, butter nan and nan. The waiter brought us popadoms with sauces on the house and also gave us a water bottle on the house. They don’t serve tap water but the waiter gave us a bottle water on the house. We also ordered a jug of mango lassi. The mixed grill came first and after a short wait all other dishes arrived. The mix grill had good portions and enough for 3 of us. All meat was well cooked, tender, fresh and well flavoured. All the dishes were great. They tasted delicious, hot, great flavours and spice not to hot and not to mild for us Deshi boys. The food was just what we needed after that hike. Great food, great service and great place to eat, relax and have a laugh. Next time your in Cardiff and looking for a curry give this restaurant a go you wont be disappointed and the price was excellent for 3 people eating.
My Pakistani friend brought me here for authentic food. Judging by the amount of south Asians frequenting the restaurant I suppose the food must be pretty authentic.
Their chicken Karahi is one of the best south Asian dishes I’ve tried and I come back just for this dish. Their biryani is also very good. Additionally their naans are very fresh and tasty.
I’ve subtracted one star for the service, which can be slow and inconsistent at times, plus occasionally I find their dishes a bit heavy on oil. Still delicious though.
It was A nice place i have ever Visited in my Life.
When we stepped in we were welcome by a Nice Manager and he walked with us to the table.
We get poppadom with 4 sauces free of cost and then we get clean plates again for food.
The Food was so delicious that i Ever tasted in my life.
It was amazing visit to Mirchi.
Recommended again and again and specially when you got friends and Family so peaceful environment it was.
Thanks ☺️
There is a multi-award winning restaurant in Cardiff that has to be at the top of the list for those who enjoy authentic Indo-Pakistani cuisine.
Located on the busy stretch of City Road, Mirchi is a large and vibrant 130-cover curry house that has been serving its community in more ways than one for 13 years now.
The fact that it added to its tally of awards by winning the prestigious Welsh Asian Food Awards ‘Curry Restaurant of the Year’ in Cardiff last year speaks volumes of its commitment and endeavour.
HALAL STATUS: Fully Halal
The single best authentic curry I have had; amazing service, great portion sizes, great value for what you get. Even though we had a takeaway, it tasted fresher than any other Indian curry I have had in a restaurant. If this is how good a takeaway was, I will definitely be coming by again to try the restaurant experience. Highly recommend.
Authentic pakistani restaurant very good karahi. Quick service. Lovely relaxed family atmosphere came with my kids. We all enjoyed food thoroughly will be back soon
First time going the food was not hot seem a bit cold but the portion for briyani was good compared to some London locations, the food over all was lush will definitely go back there.
Very nice warm welcome as soon as I stepped foot inside the modern, clean, restaurant. There was lots of space as I looked around, separate spaces for couples family’s parties etc. I was asked at one point how my meal was, I ordered the biryani and t.dhall. The food was amazingly delicious. Nice and light but could taste all the aromatic spices. The lamb used was of quality to say the least. Really enjoyed all the food as did my daughter. Will definitely go back with extended family next time.
We are from Poland, we travel around the world and this restaurant positively surprised us. Very nice service and delicious food, especially meat, freshly grilled for us. We recommend.
Tastes authentic pakistani food. We ordered lamb karahi chicken biryani. The meat was sooo tender and juicy we will definitely visit again
Great place on City Road to try traditional Pakistani cuisine. Been coming here a number of years now, always opting for either the mixed platter or lamb karahi. Service can be slow on times, as this place gets super busy!
A glass of mango lassi goes down well with every meal - keep in mind this is a dry restaurant.
Order :
Half Lahori Murgh Karahi
Fried Egg Rice
Portion of Fries
Naan x 3
2 drinks
Total - aprx £22
The Karahi was delicious, full of flavour and perfect for us as we don’t prefer too much spices. ( they do have spice levels if you prefer more we selected Mild )
Coming from Solihull ( Birmingham ), we didn’t expect the food to be very impressive but it was, and we loved it.
- Food was priced fairly
- Service could be slightly improved ( not that it was bad but it was on the slower side even though it wasn’t busy )
- Food quality was good
*Tip to the management : a waiter/staff member coming the table once the food has been served just to ask how it all is and if there’s anything extra required makes a huge difference on the first impression a guest gets while visiting a restaurant
In absolutely love with their food and the staff is also very friendly and nicer. Thanks to “Mirchi” for it’s delicious and mouth-watering recipes. Will visit again and again and again as always❤️
