Had my Dad's surprise 60th birthday celebrations here on Friday 8th September and it was such a great night! The food was really tasty and the decor, especially the beer garden is just fab. Lynne and all the staff could not do enough for us and really made the night for my Dad amazing. Highly recommend! Will definitely be arranging more family nights here. Need to try the rest of the menu �
Had our Christmas meal here last night with fairwater leisure centre members. Absolutely excellent value, great service especially from the female barmaid who was so friendly and attentive. The food was probably one of the best Christmas meals I have had, Turkey was tender, starters were fresh and desserts were very tasty. We really enjoyed our evening and would like to thank the Heathcock for such a lovely time.
Stopped here today for food, had the 2 burgers and chips and 2 Budweiser’s for £15! Lush home made burgers, tasted soooo fresh and not frozen which you get in most pubs. Amazing quality of food and very reasonably priced! Also the bar staff are very friendly �
Had our gym xmas meal here last night ( 15 dec) Not a bad word to say , food was great staff were pleasant with fantastic service and have to say the chocolate fudge cake was absolutely amazing , definatly making another visit soon!!!
The Heathcock is now reopen under new management , All welcome new and old customers come and enjoy a few beers and play pool on the new pool � table
Stopped here on the way back home for a very late lunch. Even though it was a Sunday and I hadn’t booked they let me order some food.
I had a glass of white Viognier and some rarebit. Delicious!

Exceptional food, great beer, but a pub is only ever as good as its staff. We visited today, and it was the team that made it for us. Super chilled, very informal, but no less attentive. We were really impressed. Landlord; you owe these guys a beer, as they are the best thing about your lovely pub.
Lovely garden area with heaters. Friendly staff, nice drinks. Haven't had food there yet but it always looks delicious so will definitely give it a go soon. Dog friendly.
Edit: finally got around to trying their restaurant and it was amazing! Delicious food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere (apart from a table next to us that kept laughing uncomfortably loudly, but not the restaurant's fault - some people crave attention) and reasonably priced, especially if you consider being the Michelin Guide Restaurant.
Definitely a destination pub, but take the salt pot out the kitchen!
Reading some of the reviews I keep reading over & over again about too much salt in the food. Sadly we had the same issue resulting in a reduction in our bill.

Don't consider the Heathcock "just" as a Pub : it's a really fine dining experience, with fresh products (oysters, homemade surdough, asparagus mousse,
But it's also an experience, with really great atmosphere, with a nice beer garden and good beverages, but sufficiently separated so that you can chose your ambiance, and even go from one to the other (pre dining drinks in the garden, and a more quiet room for the dining).
To be noted : the service here is absolutely marvelous. Nice, friendly, helpful, you feel welcome as a family member, while not being too pushy at the same time. Real kudos to all personnel here !
Lovely pub and beer garden, great selection of ales and ciders. The food is very special, you'll be pushed to find better food in Cardiff. Recently had (amongst other things) the homemade gnocchi with mushrooms... still thinking about it! Yum.

It's my local pub (also a restaurant and they have accommodation too). Beer is well-kept, service is good, the bar guys are really friendly. I go there twice most weeks

Wow, what an absolute food dream! The Heathcock is bar the best restaurant, dining and food experience I have had in all my travels and entire life. How lucky I am to have stumbled across this hidden gem in a Google search. Walking into the venue, it had a relaxed, warm and cosy UK pub vibe. The dining room, though, felt elegant and charming, which matched the food being served. Although travelling solo, I booked in for the Sample Tasting Menu and what a truly delightful and memorable experience it was. Each dish consisted of the best and highest quality ingredients, which all married together perfectly to create mouthwatering creations that had me unable to put down my spoon and fork. Each dish was fresh and flavoursome, and you could tell a great deal of thought, love, and care had gone into making them from scratch. The service was equally exceptional, and it felt like you were in a 5-star restaurant but in the comfort of a home. The Sample Tasting Menu was every bit worth the cost and it's still food I dream of often. If I could, I would jump back onto a plane to Wales for this food alone. A huge congratulations and my gratitude to the team at The Heathcock for creating a food menu of dreams.
One of the nicest pubs in the area, lovely decor and a great atmosphere. A good selection of food and wines and top notch food.
Great meal at The Heathcock tonight. Marinated oysters were incredible. Starters very well prepared and mains exquisite. We finished with a choc moose, cheese board and some port. A very enjoyable night. Thanks to the team. We'll be back xx
Amazing choice and clarity for coeliacs, sharing options are great value! We were seated outside and were allowed to order from the restaurant menu which was much appreciated. Only downside was it got very busy so we were forgotten about a bit as the evening went on. Decided to pay and not get dessert
