Beautiful pub with friendly staff and a new menu of excellent food! Delicious! Highly recommended
Just enjoyed an incredible steak on steak night. Great meat, great wine, amazing chips and fabulous service!! The waiter could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Thanks for such a lovely visit! We are two very happy customers
I love this place! I stop here on my way to the Gower from Gloucestershire every now and then with my young baby and it's so welcoming with a wonderful atmosphere, plus the food is definitely worth the visit! Great place to take some time out.
Been here a few times over the last couple of years. Amazing food each time, really impressed. Had the sharing platter, simply divine...oh and the thrice cooked chips are out of this world ! Will return asap.
We had an absolutely fab lunch yesterday food and service was amazing! Highly recommend will definitely be going back! Pub is also dog friendly so our dog was able to join us in the Beer Garden! Pawfect!
Friendly, warm atmosphere. Always a good selection of drinks and the landlord is incredibly knowledgeable on ales. Tasty food with some interesting selections on the menu which are a nice change compared to what you would normally get in a pub.
Amazing place to relax and dine, an amazing event in the cider festival, the staff were amazing and the manager/owner was amazing to, they were all so friendly
New favourite spot for Sunday lunch, delicious food and friendly, helpful staff
Great lamb/beef pie. Nice selection of beers. Good service. Friendly staff. Dog and children friendly. Recommended.
if you want good food then look no further than the kings arms I had the salmon starter which I just could have continued to eat and then the lamb melted in your mouth. I wondered why people would only eat welsh lamb now I know why best ever. had the Eaton mess which was nice but I did still like the sticky toffee pudding best so still my number 1 on menu for pudding. the chocolate brownie with white choc milk shake a close second. looking forward to trying new menu looking forward to seeing what is on menu with new head chef exciting times.
Always a warm welcome and a lovely team. A genuine part of the village. Great food to boot!
Excellent food and service, worth a visit
The service is really good. Both my kids love coming here and the food is good aswell.
Excellent welcome, friendly service, excellent food and drink.
A fantastic meal with family this weekend. We had a large party with lots of children and the staff were all amazing- thanks so much again for your patience. My venison pie was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals. Will visit again
Great pie & chips on a Saturday lunchtime. Tried the venison and wild boar, both excellent. Such a warm welcome and a pie menu plus a bar menu.
Best pub around :)
Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff
The food is really nice and the few vegan options
The vegan steak with the peppercorn sauce is delicious and so is the vegan fish and chips.
We were told by a friend who just happened to come across this pub/restaurant when looking for a family meal venue, that the food was amazing! They weren't wrong, we had a drink in the bar/lounge area which you can also choose to have your meal. I wanted an aperol spritz my husband a beer but were told they only sell the spritz in two as per the size of the processco bottle, that wasn't a problem for us just unusal. The only negative of the bar area is that they have a lovely fireplace with log burner which wasnt on when we were there, but when the staff came into work they just threw their coats/ jackets to the side of the log burner so you could just see a pile of coats, surely they have a proper area to hang their coats etc!. We proceeded to go to the restaurant area which you go through the snug area of the pub which seems mainly the locals catch up, but I'm sure anyone can stay in there. We went in the restaurant area and ordered our meals and drinks. The staff were polite and promt. The food was delicious we ordered the chilli prawns and beetroot falafel for starters and went halves as usual! I had the lamb rump which was cooked to perfection , my husband the vegetarian pie which je said was one of the best he's had. for pudding I had the cheese cake bit found a bit bitter after taste so didn't eat all, my husband the creme brulee which he loved. We enjoyed our night there for my birthday meal and will go again
What a lovely little pub, staff are very attentive and food is amazing. Well done looking forward to visiting again on my next visit to Wales
We were dropping someone off at Cardiff Airport and thought we'd stop for Sunday lunch nearby. We chose the King's Arms, and I'm so glad we did. We we're greeted by a friendly member of staff who guided us through to the restaurant. We ordered 4 soft drinks and decided on 3 roast beef and a roast lamb. It all arrived very quickly. The portions were very generous and came with separate veg. We then decided on rhubarb crumble, lemon cheesecake, and brownie for dessert. All throughout the staff were very friendly and polite. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely be back 👍
Visted first time and it did not disappoint!!!
Stunning food lovely staff, we opted for Market Menu! Need to pop back to try the pies!
Lovely location, atmosphere, staff and food. Truly an overall fantastic experience.
A traditional village pub with gastro pub food and some traditional modern British pub classics. For real ale the Kings Arms had Young's bitter or Brains SA on handpump on my first visit, with Courage Best instead of SA on my second. While this generation of Best is a bland pint, it is ok for an afternoon beer or a driver. The cider is Inch's keg. Upmarket high quality pies and food (market menu) and wine at upmarket prices. A less fancy and pricey but still high quality pub menu. Large selection of gins. Dog friendly. Friendly and welcoming staff. A nice outdoor patio when weather permits. A wide range of customers making a pub that is part of the community and attracts wider visitors. On our second visit, with close family who recently moved to Pentyrch, we had the Sunday lunch. I had the leak and potato soup, then the lamb - as an occasional meat eater / mostly vegetarian in the last ten years. It was very good. My wife thought the vegan steak was a bit boring - trying too hard perhaps. She'd have preferred a decent pie or maybe a regular veggie burger choice which are available on other days. The waitresses and waiter were familiar and confident with different dietary requirements and checked with the kitchen that my wife's choices were dairy free, suitable for lactose intolerance.
A delicious Sunday roast. Excellent value, friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
March 2017. Friendly NEW owners and lovely atmosphere. Great service. Fast delivery. Helpful staff. Dog friendly with two open fireplaces. Can't fault this beautiful classic old pub. The NEW owners have done a great job of the extensive refurbishment.
Glenlivet 12 in hand and dog at foot I look forward to falling asleep in a comfy chair next to one of these open fires.
The smell of a smoky fire wofting outside on a crisp spring day as you stand in the sun with a cool brains gold ale is to be encouraged.
Good selection of brains Ales.
Amazing Sunday Roast with lovely vegan and vegetarian options and the meat eaters were just as happy.
Do exactly what they claim. Quality stylish but unpretentious food, keep a quality cellar. Give a warm welcome, but unobtrusively. Excellent service and help with wheelchair access. We recommend the King's Arms especially if you walk, cycle or otherwise visit Garth Top.
10/10 from the moment we stepped in!
Dan and his team were very welcoming, the food was also excellent. Our only problem was choosing what to pick from the menu due to it all sounding incredible!
We will definitely be back soon to sample more of the menu!
Cold and draughty inside on a cold evening. Heating would have been appreciated as we all dined in our coats! Restrooms were even colder!
Food was tasty but portions on the meagre side. Expensive for what you get.
Young staff pleasant enough but not particularly attentive. Had to find them to ask them to take the dessert order after a significant wait.
Just an ok from me I’m afraid
Lovely pub. Lovely staff. Delicious food. Social distances measures in place. Would happily go again.
A slightly delayed review! We had our wedding reception here at The Kings Arms in October 2021. The staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough to make our special day run smoothly. The venue is stunning and the food was amazing. All of our guests gave compliments on how delicious the food was. We’ve found wedding food can be lacking in flavour with small portions which is something we were passionate about avoiding and eating at The Kings Arms as two big foodies was perfect! We highly recommend. Sorry for the delay in posting! Two children and a puppy have been keeping us busy! 🫣
Really enjoyed Sunday lunch here today. Nicely presented meal with beautiful flavour. A gorgeous sunny day so enjoyed our meal outside which was peaceful. Served by lovely staff too. Definitely will be back.
A great stop off just outside Cardiff. Lovely food, great staff and dog friendly!
