Very accommodating service. Excellent food for vegetarians! Wonderful Srilankan flavors, what a pleasant surprise. Didn’t care about the cocktails much but we loved every food item that we ordered. I could eat that food every day! Portion sizes are small so plan to order more than one time per person.

Stumbling upon this hidden gem in the middle of Cardiff city center is one of my greatest achievements in Cardiff! The food here takes you on a true gastronomical adventure to Sri Lanka! Delicious Sri Lankan dishes curated in a perfect manner. The perfect spice level which is quite palatable. Friendly staff and speedy service! Amazing ambiance too! I was particularly fascinated with the bar counter top which was made with coins. Drop by for a real food adventure and I’m sure it would be one of the best meals you have ever had!

Interesting and tasty menu! Food is very flavourful and has notes of coconut and warm spices such as cardamom. Some items can be very spicy, yet only half of the spicyness from their origins as we were told :-) Weird drinks also. The good weird. You should order five(ish) separate items for a complete meal. Very affordable prices. Downsides? Loud atmosphere. Loud music and loud clientele, at least on a weekend evening... If you want a romantic, candel light dinner, you shold consider something else.

Stopped in on the way past for a quick cocktail. Was really nice. The food that was coming out looked amazing il definitely be back for food! Update! We came back, food was amazing. Cones in small portions street food style which we thought was great. Was a good way to try out lots of different dishes. The goat curry and the black pork was our favourite. Very reasonably priced. They also take blue light card for 20% discount. Absolutely cannot fault it. We said it before and well say it again. We will be back :)

Found this place while looking to try something different, rather than just stick to what we would normally go for, and very glad that we did. The food was amazing Sri Lankan street food which was extremely tasty. There was a good variety of dishes, including a good range for vegans too. If you’re unsure what to try, then the ‘Can’t decide’ option on the menu is good, as you get three randomly selected dishes. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were very polite and courteous. Would highly recommend eating here, particularly if you’re a fan of Far Eastern cuisine!

I recently dined at 'The Coconut Tree' and was impressed by the exquisite Sri Lankan cuisine and exceptional service. The manager, Rodney, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The dishes were bursting with authentic flavors, and the manager's attentiveness and knowledge about the menu made our visit truly memorable. A big thank you to 'The Coconut Tree' team, for an unforgettable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

We were trying to find a place that could also offer vegan dishes and the coconut tree looked perfect from what we've seen in the menu. When you walk in the atmosphere had been really good, and the gentleman at the entrance named Rodney was very nice and polite throughout our time there. We were offered a seat wherever we wanted since we were the first ones there and immediately we were told how the menu works and explained everything so we understood. Rodney was very informative and polite, we also ordered a lot of drinks and never in my life did i order as many drinks as i did today with him while having any type of food. 😅 We've had two pina colada zero and 2 virgin mojito passion fruit and then one of each ice teas, so raspberry and passion fruit. For food we had a plain hooper and an egg hopper, parippu and a fat sister, kale & cabbage sambol a bit of rice (vegan rice was really good) tct chili paste, which was quite a lot and too much of it for 2 people and spicy as well. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and even Nisa, which helped serving the drinks was very nice and polite to us and checked that everything was okay, which we really appreciate. The music was also very chill 😎 It was my sister's 3rd day in Cardiff and she's never had such an amazing service in her life. I'm really happy that she was also happy as well as I, and I will book it for next time as well.

TCT is a good option for anyone wanting to try Sri Lankan / South Indian food in Cardiff. The chicken curry, roti and chicken kothu were amazing. I’ll definitely recommend the hoppers as well for people who haven’t tried it before. Cheesy Colombo was the only dish that was highly recommended but I dint like it but it could just be a matter of taste.

Love the coconut tree. The food bring me back to when I was a child back in the Caribbean. It just can’t be beaten just so good. I would always recommend the coconut to friends that come and stay

Sri Lankan food is being served at the CTC. Whether it is authentic, I wouldn't know (as I have never been to SL) but it certainly is tasty! If you don't like coconut, most of the dishes are off-limits; you can find some alternatives though. The menu (although not particularly extensive) even offers a couple of vegan, gf and vegetarian options. Cocktails are slightly expensive, but extremely good and they offer 2 for £10 / 2x£12 options as well. The table was a bit sticky and the restaurant itself looked a bit tired. The table set up and the napkins (kitchen roll) might surprise you at the first (in their simplicity), but it doesn't take long for the food and the staff to win you over. Every person working there had a nice smile on their face and was very corteous and helpful. On their website there is a section on 'what to expect' and I have to say, they deliver what they promise. Overall, I would definitely go back again!
