So after visiting Paris last month, wanted a gentle reminder of France and visited Madame Fromage with my partner.
The place is brilliantly set out in a old Victorian arcade with plenty of seating, but be prepared to wait during busy times... it’s worth the wait tho!

Fantastic selection of cheeses that varies depending on the month. Guys here are also very knowledgeable. Ideal for lunch as they give good sized portions for reasonable prices. If you are lucky you also might be able to get yourself on one of their Cheese and Wine tasting nights, which are superb.
This is a restaurant that lives up to its reputation! We had the special Cawl made with lamb which came with a side of garlic bread. Was delicious. The Welsh Rarebit is also worth trying.
The staff was also patient and friendly. Its not very big inside with some seats in the arcade.

Cute little cheese cafe with great service and amazing food. Welsh rarebit soooo yum!! We also got the Welsh lamb cowl and sweet potato soup (both specials of the day). Safe to say there were no leftovers!
Madame Fromage is a spectacular example of what you can do with a simple idea and small space. Set in the Castle Arcade in Cardiff, the deli come lunchtime diner doesn’t seat too many people. No problem though as we will just take you across the walkway to another booth with plenty of tables up and
The deli was very pretty with amazing section of of Welsh and French cheeses. Service was great. They were very cooperative towards our preferences in regards to cheese boards. Also, amazing value. For the quality and the size of those platters, they are very cheap.
Took a few friends here to introduce them to some Welsh dishes. The Rarebit was very good and filling. Loads of craft beers available in the fridge. Welsh cheeses and tasty treats also available. Staff are friendly and attentive. Popular spot so you’ll probably have to queue on the weekends.

I had a plate with camenbert and a lamb soup. Both were amazing! I want to visit Cardiff again just because of this place. You need to pay at the counter and tell them the table number.
What can I say, Madame Fromage just never fail you. You can come here for a hearty rarebit after a night of drinking or a bowl of cwal in a rainy day, it just make you feel joyful. Very friendly staff and great outdoor seating for people watch. The red devil cheese is also my favorite.
Google told me this was the place to go for a Welsh rarebit (open faced grilled cheese sandwich). A simple dish, with the option top add bacon. Because the shop has gourmet cheese, I doubt you'll find a better rarebit. There's the option to eat outside in the covered arcade, which feels like outdoor
Just great place with friendly staff and salad. On the pictures there is baked camembert topped with bacon and maple syrup and next to it there is the goat cheese toasted salad. It’s quite busy on Saturday, you might wait a little bit in line to be seated but it is worth the wait. I recommend it.
Details in the shop, details in the produkts, details in the outlook. A shop-cafe to sit and to relax, to buy and to eat, to chill out and to wonder. The menu had a nice variaty of small dishes. Staff very, very friendly, showing the atmosphere of Madame Fromage.
We went there yesterday for a cheese board, asked for the Welsh cheeses were 🌎 class! I ordered a white wine with the cheeses #relaxing. If you're near the castle and looking for a nice place for lunch Madame Fromage is for you.
