Perfect place for lunch in Canterbury’s busy spot. The dishes are varied from meat to seafood based. Enjoy everything we ordered - octopus tapas, beef steak, croquettas, shrimp tapas etc. Lovely waiters and atmosphere inside. Was not busy at all, so makes up for a great destination for a quiet lunch in the busy centre. Would visit again next time I’m in Canterbury

Fantastic authentic tapas. Everything we tried was outstanding for flavour and quality. The staff and owner provide a wonderful service. Warm welcome as soon as you step through the door. Great atmosphere with comfy well spaced tables. Wish I lived closer. I'd eat there all the time. Central location. Recommend you book well in advance as tables there are in high demand.

When visiting Canterbury, it definitely can’t be missed! As a former resident of Canterbury, El Sol takes the top spot in restaurants I would recommend to anyone visiting. A local family business that really know how to deliver in all aspects. The service is impeccable and every customer is met with the warmest welcome and smile, especially from manager Essa. The vibe of this establishment truly reflects comfort and friendliness, which accompanied with the incredible food ensures that it is the perfect dining experience. Chef Jerry visits every table to check that all customers are satisfied with the meals they are having and is more than happy to discuss menu items and listen to queries. This bespoke waiting experience is a welcomed change from other restaurants and truly creates a wonderful dining experience.

I am writing this review from our amazing room in the Sun Hotel just above the restaurant. The food is sublime; the best meal I've eaten in a very long time. The seafood was amazingly flavourful and we also particularly enjoyed the chorizo and the steak slices (forgotten the name...). The mango cheesecake dessert was a perfect ending to the meal. The servers are quick and attentive and polite and the chef/owners are also super friendly and personable. 6 stars is not enough!

The chef is absolutely amazing!!! He’s from Greece and worked as a cook for over 30 years. He’s expert in Spanish cooking and his homemade passionate fruit cheesecake is a must try. We arrived in a rainy afternoon and chef greeted us with a tour to The Sun Hotel, where Charles Dickens stayed when he visited Canterbury. You have to come dine in El Sol

Superb service, scrumptious food and warm atmosphere. We were so lucky we managed to get a table on a fully booked Saturday night. The staff were wonderfully friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. The food was so good we forgot to take pictures but the highlights were the meatballs and this glorious, unforgettable mango cheesecake which we snapped when our bellies were full :)

Lovely little Spanish restaurant! Highly recommend the seafood paella, was so tasty and as good as what you would get in Spain. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the chef even popped out to ask how the food was which I thought was great. Good selection of drinks, and nice decor. Will definitely return when next in Canterbury.
