Extremely late review but I absolutely loved my work experience here, I met some of the most influential people who were very open and honest about their journeys which enabled me to receive a completely different hands on experience that you would not gain from working amongst a ward or hospital type setting. I was delighted with the staff and there constant positivity in the centre as well as the variety of cases they take on. Throughout the days I spent at the centre a number of activities took place and I was informed that this happened on a regular basis, and I noticed that many of which were run by attendees of the centre. The Umbrella Centre gives a real sense of community and I would highly recommend it to any of those seeking work experience particularly in the mental health department as I have learnt alot here and cannot wait to begin writing up my coursework on this unit. Thank you so much for taking me on, I must pop in at some point this holiday:)

I'd not long moved to the area when I first came here, so didn't know very many people. Straight away, I felt really welcome and it's great to have somewhere I can come any day I fancy. Tuesday is my favourite, though, due to the art

The Umbrella Club is a fantastic place to come and meet new friends and also air any problems you may have with Staff and friends. Many activities to do throughout the week and also have fundraisers to help out in and Outings as well. I'm hoping to restart my voluntary work at the club soon.

This place is so inexpensive. It's a great resource for Canterbury. It's a great place for adults with learning difficulties and disadvantaged adults to come with their carers and families. They do workshops and activities. Drop in for a coffee or cup of tea. They deserve to be supported. The premises are clean and tidy if a little basic.

Canterbury Umbrella is a brilliant hub that supports a large number of people in the wider community. It is a 'drop in' centre from which a number of services are based. A friendly restaurant run by staff and volunteers that provides great home cooking at a very good price.
