Best Roast Pork EVER.. Strong words I know but bear with me. This is the sister pub of the far more famous Sportsman in Seasalter. They may not yet do a tasting menu but blimey can they deliver quality pork. The flavour of the meat is extraordinary as it's apparently cooked for three days in goose fat - yes, that's right - three days - and it's topped with the most perfect crackling. There is some truth in the reports of over seasoning of the vegetables but if pork is on the menu, just make the trip, you won't regret it.
Enjoyed the offer of 3 courses for £15, which is excellent value for money. I had the mushroom on toast (no photo) followed by the chicken curry, and the brownie sundae to finish.
A very nice upmarket traditional English country pub on the outskirts of Canterbury in a rural setting,
Good food, and service.
Plenty of parking.
Card payments only.
Not cheap but you don't expect it to be, we had 4x the most expensive Sunday roast dinner on the menu which is the Mixed Roast at £24 each, 6 Beers, 2 wines, 2 pint Lemonades and 2 desserts and the bill came to £167,50.
Recommended.
Had a nice meal here, Booked before coming which was good as they were really busy and turning people away. Food was nice, pub had a nice feel to it , only thing I would say is the service is quite slow with long wait times between meals.
Had lunch here the veg roast was delightful
As was the veg served with the roast. The carrot was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Good choice of gins and a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend if in the area. Booking a table is advisable.
We had a table booked for Tuesday 2:1 steak night and enjoyed every moment. The service was very quick and efficient and with a smile. We ordered chorizo nibbles to share which were really tasty, although we could have done with a little more bread. We then had a rib eye steak each, and they were cooked to perfection. We were a little disappointed with the garlic butter as it wasn't very garlicky and was more like mayonnaise in consistency. But it was a lovely meal and we had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely go again.
The Granville is our "local" pub/restaurant and it never disappoints. They are always busy so occasionally the service can be a little slow but this is made up for in spades by the quality of the food and the reasonable prices. The gluten free offerings are also good, especially the fish in batter. Staff are always friendly and they have good offers on frequently.
Lovely 3 course lunch. I would highly recommend the tempura cauliflower as well as the leek and cheese macaroni. I was disappointed with the cookie dough dessert, whilst there was nothing wrong with it, it was different to the description on the menu so not what I was expecting. However, the starter and main course and friendly staff meant we still left very happy and very full!
Pretty large Shepherd Neame pub with bar and restaurant areas and a lovely open fire. Popped in for dinner while staying nearby, it was quiet (2nd Jan!) but food and staff really good.
I visited The Granville on Friday 22 November 2019 in the evening, a weekday during term time. I was with one other person. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place.
I parked in the pub car park outside - parking was easy.
The restaurant comprises primarily of one fairly large sized main dining area with a large wood burner as a centrepiece - there are plenty of tables with full table service. We booked in advance, which was easy and is the best option as the restaurant was very busy despite it's fairly remote location.
The pub and restaurant have a very warm and welcoming family atmosphere due to the decor, the layout and the mix of lights and candles. The kitchen is open and visible, which gives you even greater confidence in a restaurant. The tables were larger than often, giving you plenty of space. The restaurant is also dog friendly for those with four legged friends.
The team were very friendly, welcoming and attentive - we had absolutely no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I enjoyed a chicken and ham hock terrine for my starter, the burger with added camembert and bacon for my main course and a part baked cookie dough for my desert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was very good value for money, I paid around £35 for three courses and drinks, which felt good value for money for gourmet pub dining.
Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and visit again.
We held the wake for our mum here and they catered for the 65 guests beautifully ,helpful staff and a very tasty buffet with a great selection of food would recommend highly
Great food, nice atmosphere. Lovely roaring wood fire. All good
Fantastic food so much choice it is difficult to choose what to eat.
The staff are so lovely too.
The pub has a great atmosphere and cosy in the winter with the log burner going.
Good friendly service from the young staff. Well managed restaurant even when busy.
Family friendly and welcoming to going baby.
Food good quality. Burger good but not fantastic, beef patty seemed a bit dense and not top quality but still a 4star burger.
Good wine list, seasonal beers, well stocked bar. Free wifi.
The chips were fantastic!!!
All the food was really good and the service was good, especially considering it was busy. Plus they have a lovely garden in the back.
The perfect pub lunch experience.
Did I mention how good the chips are !?!
Excellent lunch - prawn cocktail followed by very tasty salmon fishcakes. Busy bank holiday Monday - service and food excellent.
1st visit, and worth it. Looking for somewhere on the road between Canterbury and Sellindge, saw The Granville, and thought why not. Plenty car parking space, so easy to park.
As the norm now, table service only, but being a nice day we sat in the back garden, tables socially distenced.
Menu good and varied, main menu and a fixed price set menu, set menu between £12 to £16, depending on how many courses you chose. We chose the set menu, actually we did a bit of mix and match. Service was good and food excellent. Chose the steak, and it was cooked to our liking, along with mixed salad and fries, dessert was unusual but tasty.
Was a very enjoyable visit, on leaving the pub had become quite busy though the inside is quite large and cosy.
So if passing just pop in, don't take my word for it.
