The Cook's Tale Restaurant - Canterbury - Photo album

We tried The Cook’s Tale yesterday for the Sunday lunch. WOW it was absolutely delicious. We had the shared chicken and the single lamb dish and shared between 4 and there was plenty. Spice was just right. Dev the chef presented us with our dinner and we were able to chat with him which was a nice
Fantastic Indian. Unexpected find in Canterbury of all places. I eat a lot of Indian food (Central London, Tooting, Southall, Delhi) but this was possibly the best I had. Great taste, classy atmosphere, excellent service. Prices are probably medium/high for Canterbury, but more than justified by the
Amazing food. The service was a little slow as they were short staffed, and they had chefs serving as waitors, but the food was still outstanding and great atmosphere.
This is a lovely restaurant with a really interested menu that mixes British dishes with Indian flavours and sides. They had vegan options which was great to see and they also had a good cocktail menu. It is worth mentioning that the restaurant is cold so you should dress appropriately. We had a he
We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate here. It's a unique dining experience. There's a talented pianist, who NEVER stops, playing everything from the Game of Thrones theme to Julie Andrew's "My favourite things" at a high tempo, which the head waiter/manager zips along to, from table to table like
Amazing restaurant. Friday at 6 didn't book and a got a table. Didn't know anything before hand and were surprised with the most amazing menu - hard to pick what we wanted. Whatever you opt for get a side of the okra it was divine. Portion sizes really generous for how good the food is. We will defi
Decent restaurent good location attentive service above average food. Thali seems to be the specialty dish but I found lamb kebab a good choice.
Food was very well prepared. The service was exceptional, for once it was chef Dev himself who brought the plates and did the service (not as a chef). Thanks for a great night!!
Wow, what a great place, came for lunch and was not disappointed. We had the Thali which was super tasty and there was a vegan option, the waiter was very helpful and informative. Will definitely come back.
Must visit place, the staff is very polite making my parents extremly comfortable amazing service , Crispy okra 5 stars we also enjoyed Vegetarian thali ..
I have eaten here many times of the years including prior to when it was the ambrette. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. All the tasting menus I have had here are top notch and are affordable. The house red wine is always dependable and anything I have ever tried I have thoroughly enjoyed.
I had lunch with my wife here and it was excellent. We both really enjoyed the tapas and the chocolate samosa at the end was wonderful. The staff member who served us was brilliant and gave really helpful recommendations. I very much recommend the restaurant and look forward to coming again.
The vegan Thali was absolutely incredible, I highly recommend it! The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was fantastic.
Formerly known as the ambrette, this is now the Cook's Tale. Inside retains the old style, but I think they are in phase of renovation, which could put someone off. Don't be fooled, this restaurant is a specialty in Canterbury. Can do both Set menu or A la carte, good and great selection of dishe
This is my partner and I’s fourth visit dining at The Ambrette (the first since it’s been rebranded as The Cook’s Tale). I find it difficult to review, as while there are many positives, there has always been something that’s disappointed us on each visit too. This time, we were crossing all our fin
We had dinner on a Saturday evening; restaurant was not full but still had quite some guests. There was live piano music. I felt the music really helped elevate the ambiance of the restaurant. Our waitress was new so service was just ok. My 9 year old ordered the kids menu which offered a diverse me
I ordered breakfast as a treat for my Mum and the boys this weekend. Mum text me and said "It was all delicious. The lassis were absolutely yummy and very filling! We couldn’t eat everything but did our best. I liked the halloumi cheese roll best...very good and also very filling! Thank you ver
