This was my 3rd Visit to Tawa Kitchen and I have to say that every time I walk in through those doors I’m impressed with their impeccable service & the heartwarming staff which always goes the mile to accommodate all your needs & make your visit a special one. My friend had to catch a train & we requested them for a table very last moment. They were kind enough to get us one & also made sure we were served in time so that we could rush & get that train. The food is always top class. Feels as if I am eating right in India ! Thanks for keeping up the legacy and serving such delicious food with a beautiful dedicated team !
After trying to get a reservation for ages we finally managed & Tawa kitchen did not disappoint. The staff were lovely & very attentive & the meal was fantastic. We had the okra nibbles with onion & aubergine bhaji and tandoori lamb chops to start, followed by the pomegranate chickpea chole, chicken tikka masala and the chicken chettinad. Couldn’t fault a thing, the meal was delicious & we will definitely be back!
Awesome value and healthy hearty food for lunch. Will come back for lunch and probably dinner soon and often, even just for takeaway :) The convenient location is a plus, though there are many other higher end or family style Indian restaurants in town.
The chaat is so much larger than the waitress’s gesture suggested. Definitely not an “extra” as stated by the menu either. I was ready to go for a pricy snack but received big plate , there must be a can of chickpeas😅. Very good value. I am stuffed. This alone can be a meal, and it tastes wonderful. Creamy chickpeas and crispy kale and noodles. And the sweet sour tamarid chutney sauce tastes wonderful with a hint of spiciness.
The side salad is also substantial. Instead of a few green leaves on the side, it comes as a bowl tightly packed with shredded veggies, cherry tomatoes, radishes, and pomegranate seeds! The citrusy dressing is very refreshing. Probably the best “side salad” or “green salad” I’ve had. ❤️
The lamb wrap has a good balance between meat and veggie. Mildly spiced. The wrap is soft and stretchy… though I hope it can be toasted a little warmer. Will try the express thali and curry and biryani next time.
Seems to be a quite popular lunch place for those working in the nearby offices. The stews on the stove look nice.

2nd visit
Invited a friend to try the dinner here. The portion is surprisingly smaller than lunch, and my favorite salad doesn’t seem to be here.
We had a lamb and a chicken dish. Following recommendation I ordered the more spicy chicken chenttinad—only a warm hint for me but tasty. Tariwala gosht appears similar. It has a more pronounced cardamom flavor.
Thepla is quite rare in restaurants, pliable and goes well with the food. The flavor isn’t as strong as the ingredient suggests.
Butter naan comes warm :) crispy outside and soft inside. Not too greasy.
Kulfi has a small amount of pistachio and more rose petals. Not too sweet. Cardamom gives a complex flavor to it. I probably have never tried Kulfi in American Indian restaurants, so the recommended flavor is good—mango one might taste like frozen mango lassi.
Ambiance-wise, some background music could help. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.
Delicious experience. The service is excellent, and the staff actually listens and incorporates your taste preferences perfectly. We ordered chickpeas, and the taste is comparable to actual Indian homemade food. It is also close to the station and hence easy to go to. A must go to.
Food was so good. Chicken 50/60 the kids loved. We ordered daal and chole as well as masala chips, chicken biryani with some parathas.
Really decently priced meal for five of us and really nice and filling.
Would highly recommend.
Amazing Indian food place very near the to Station. Never fails to improve not matter how many times I go.
Very popular and can be crowded to would recommend booking a table far in advance.
I love Indian food and this was my first visit to Cambridge. Tawa kitchen was an highlight of my afternoon. Mida was so friendly and listened to our specifications lovely atmosphere and the food was top notch
Overall five stars but that’s being slightly generous. Scotch egg was way overdone. Should’ve been slightly runny but it was basically nuked. Service was very hit and miss. Seemed like they were training a couple newbies and it was rougher. Very convenient location right by the train station.
Tara is an excellent (but hard to find) Indian restaurant a 30 second walk from Cambridge station. There is a large outside covered area and an inside area with a chic and modern interior - the ceiling is exposed and you can see into the kitchen.
We’ve been here 5 times now since we discovered it - it is the best curry house I’ve ever been to. And I love a good curry!
The service is great - e.g. they just picked up an inside table and put out it outside for us so we could be outside on a balmy evening.
The food and booze is superb. Great flavours, succulent meat, tasty veggie dishes. The paratha is as good as Singapore (my wife is from there so we go a lot) and the prawn curry is firm favourite. The chicken biryani (recommended by our waiter) is prepped imaginatively, and the aubergine curry is superb. Get here before it gets too busy!
Although they do takeaway it’s better to come here and the excellent service, food and atmosphere.
Update May 2023: it is just as good if not better!
Delicious food at this great bustling modern Indian restaurant. The foods super fresh and tasty - nothing is oily, lots of fresh herbs and fabulous flavours. Have had probably half the menu over the last 3 visits and it’s all been great. Friendly service too !
I had the lamb chops as starter and the tikka masala as mains. I think the food was amazing even if the restaurant was completely packed up. I'll definitely be happy to be back.
authentic Indian food located conveniently close to the station.
The choice and quality of food is great

Stopped in here after our train was terminated in Cambridge - it made it worth the hassle of the delay. The food was very different from the norm and was delicious :
Kkurkuri bhindi- beautifully tasty okra nibbles
Spicy coconut petis with tamarind sauce was sublime
Mysore lamb - fantastic tasty masala sauce and tender lamb
Cochin prawn curry - spicy creamy and beautifully tender prawns
Basmati rice perfect
All very fresh
And the staff exceedingly helpful and friendly... worth a train ride here just for this
Each dish was super flavourful and came in reasonable portions for the price. Their Chicken Biryani is a must try! I'd also recommend ordering their Malabar Paratha which goes with pretty much all of their mains.
I have seen many good reviews of this restaurant and finally made a visit, wow they were not lying! This is truly good. Delicate and delicious food, friendly services, reasonable price. I was already planning for the next visit before I even leave the restaurant :)
